Netanyahu: Goal of war is ‘to defeat the murderous enemy, ensure our existence in our land’

At a press conference in Tel Aviv, Netanyahu says Israel’s war aims are clear — “destruction of Hamas’s military and governing capabilities; and returning the hostages home.”

Netanyahu says the decision to begin the ground incursion was made unanimously, both by the war cabinet and the security cabinet.

“Our commanders and soldiers fighting in enemy territory know that the nation and the national leadership stand behind them,” he adds.

9:18 pm

Netanyahu: ‘Never again is now,’ Israel fighting ‘war for all of humanity’

He says his heart is broken after meeting families of the kidnapped, pledging, “We will utilize every opportunity to return our kidnapped brothers and sisters to their families’ embrace.”

Netanyahu also denounces those who “dare to accuse our soldiers of war crimes” as hypocrites and liars.

“The IDF is the most moral army in the world,” he says, again calling on residents of northern Gaza to head to the southern Gaza Strip.

Netanyahu accuses Hamas of war crimes for using human shields and taking fuel meant for hospitals.

“Israel is not only fighting our own war,” he continues, “but a war for all of humanity.”

Such a powerful image: a call for a genocide of the Jews in front of a monument built by Jewish slaves.

Nobody urged a ceasefire three weeks after 9/11. It was clear to the whole world that Al Qaeda must enjoy no safe refuge to plan more terrorist atrocities.

Hamas leaders net worth:

Abu Marzuk $3 billion
Khaled Mashal $4 billion
Ismail Haniyeh $4 billion

Hamas’ annual turnover: $1 billion

While Gazans are deprived of basic needs, Hamas uses aid & funds to line their own pockets.

BBM. The killing of civilians is never justified.

JMO
The Geneva Conventions specifically prohibit reprisals against civilians, private property of civilians in occupied territory, or enemy foreigners on friendly territory.135 Additional Protocol I is similarly unambiguous on reprisals: "Attacks against the civilian population or civilians by way of reprisals are prohibited."136 Although the relevant provision of Protocol I has not yet reached the status of customary law, it expresses the prevailing trend in IHL to prohibit reprisal attacks against civilians-and thereby pre-empt the vicious spirals of reprisal and counter-reprisal that frequently follow.137
I said Israel's reaction is justified, and I stand by that 100%.

UAE asks UN Security Council to meet on Gaza

The United Arab Emirates asked the United Nations Security Council on Saturday to meet "as soon as possible" following Israel's expanded ground operations in Gaza and the disconnection of telecommunications networks, diplomats said.
The 15-member council could meet as early as Sunday, diplomats said, and the UAE has asked for U.N. aid chief Martin Griffiths and Philippe Lazzarini, the head of the U.N. agency providing aid to Palestinians (UNRWA), to brief.

Demonstrations for hostage release, Netanyahu removal, take place across Israel

24440-2.jpg
Demonstrations in support of the hostage's families are taking place on Saturday across various locations in the country. In some of the protests, the demonstrators are also calling for the removal of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

In front of the Defense Ministry's complex in Tel Aviv, where a regular protest vigil by the abducted individuals' families takes place, dozens of people are currently participating. According to estimates, the size of the demonstration may change based on the results of Netanyahu's meeting with the families' representatives taking place at this time. This marks the third consecutive week of Saturday evening protests in the same location.

In Haifa, hundreds of demonstrators are participating, and demonstrations in support of the hostage's families are also occurring on Saturday evening in Haifa, Atlit, Caesarea, Be'er Sheva, and Eilat.

(My own personal note: Do protesters support Hamas prisoner deal of 6,000 or a one-for-one prisoner deal (swap) with imprisoned women and children????)
BBM. I'm surprised that only some of demonstrators are calling for the removal of BN. His disregard for the safety of the hostages appalls most of the world.

Listen to the opening monologue of @DanyCushmaro from Israel’s Channel 12 News last night.
“We want everyone to take a good look at the photos of the hostages and missing people.”

Memorize each and every one of their faces. #BringThemHome

BRING THE BRODETZ FAMILY HOME

Hagar Brodetz and her three children, Ofri (10), Yuval (9) and Oriya (4) were brutally kidnapped from their homes by Hamas terrorists.

They are currently being held hostage in Gaza. #BringThemHome

I notice this plane circling over southern Gaza today. I can't see any info about it, but it's stayed about 25,000 feet and circling the same area, plus another area off the coast. Anyone have thoughts on what this could be? Is it a drone or ??
I have no idea!
It was listed as NA while over the water, then disappeared.
Was it from an aircraft carrier? Who knows?

Military planes are likely over Gaza and they are likely blocked from the flight tracker. (AF 1 was blocked while in route from Greece to Israel)

Note: On your previous post (yesterday) about Tel Aviv having no traffic. I noticed it was night in Israel. I once stayed in a hotel next to Chicago O'Hare. I had a horrible case of insomnia and was anxious about a conference the next day. It was dead as a doornail in the middle of the night. All of a sudden around 5 am, the airport started to wake up. This was when O'Hare was the busiest airport in the world. It was really weird to watch.

Exactly!!!

On a human being scale...if you had a choice to either:

A. Live in abject TERROR from those who wish ( and have attempted to succeed...see 1400 + lives ) to annihilate you, or:

B. Wipe the TERRORISTS off the earth, so you and your families, as well as those around you, can live in peace.

I would choose B.

But....that is JMO

Senior Leaders in Hamas are continuing to state today that they are willing to Release all of the Hostages being held in the Gaza Strip in an Exchange for the 6-10 Thousand Members of Hamas and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad which are in Prison in Locations across Israel.

I'm not worried, but it is possible that someone could enter Mexico and then the United States illegally. It happens, but:

First, they would need to leave Palestinian area
Get on a plane or boat
(commercial transportation would be very difficult because they require passports etc)
A small plane on private property is an option, but it would need to land somewhere and it would probably land in someone's backyard strip in the US. (Yes, they exist. We have one right here in a neighborhood. It's a strip with no radar, no nothing etc.) It can be done. That's how they ship cocaine. However, there does need to be refuel options. The Colombia to rural Florida route included a refuel stop in Panama.

It is possible that Hamas leaders could get here on a private plane. But they are not in Gaza or the West Bank.
  • It's entirely possible that any bad actor in any part of the world could get here on a private plane at any given time.

Now, let's look at commercial flights/boats...Passport..Maybe can be faked. I don't know.....With a fake passport, where do they land? US? Another country in the Americas? If they can get into any of the land countries of the Americas, they could probably enter Mexico and the US illegally.

Getting across the Atlantic is the hurdle.
I think terrorist leaders are all over the world. The billionaires who fund them have private aircraft and yachts. That is why our border patrol must remain so vigilant.

Yeah, THAT sounds like a good deal! Said no one ever...
"...they are willing to Release all of the Hostages being held in the Gaza Strip in an Exchange for the 6-10 Thousand Members of Hamas..."

Oh golly jeepers, you mean 6-10 thousand MORE of the same kind of savages who slaughtered, stabbed, shot, raped, dismembered, beheaded & burned alive innocent civilians? Hmm... tempting, for sure. Said all the demons in hell.

The link does not say Israel is carpet bombing innocent civilians.
Have checked around and haven't seen that theory published anywhere yet.
Although it's likely some Hamas' influenced publications may have claimed that ?

I do not believe the IDF is doing that .
More like surgical strikes on areas where they know Hamas' bases are operating ?
The possibility that Hamas are forcing civilians to gather in large numbers directly in those headquarters is horrifying.
These terrorists treat their own as if they're disposable; imo.
Omo.

You’re correct— that article doesn’t specifically mention carpet bombing. And I hope you are right that the IDF isn’t trying to obliterate the innocent Palestinians in Gaza in retaliation.

IMO, though, the number of civilian fatalities in Gaza doesn’t seem to indicate precise surgical strikes considering the thousands and thousands of Palestinians killed.

I agree the news sources that note “carpet bombing” tend to be left leaning publications that are listed as “mostly factual” by media monitoring sites. By the same token, at least several of the the media sources used heavily in this thread ( j post for example) etc are noted to be right leaning, “mostly factual” resources.

Gallant says return of captives ‘not a secondary mission,’ warns ‘long war’ ahead in Gaza

Speaking after Netanyahu, Defense Minister Yoav Gallant says there is not one moment he is not thinking about the hostages.

[...]

Turning to the hostages, Gallant says Israel is doing everything it can to bring the hostages back. “It is not a secondary mission.”

“Let’s not delude ourselves, our enemies are not looking for humanitarian solutions.”

Gallant says the harder Israel hits Hamas, the greater the chances Hamas will agree to release hostages.

“It will not be a short war. It will be a long war,” he says.

“It is us or them,” Gallant says.

Gantz says ‘no diplomatic time limit’ on Israeli military activities in Gaza

War cabinet member Benny Gantz also stresses that Israel is undertaking “every effort” to bring back the hostages.

Gantz, a former IDF chief of staff and defense minister, says the ground operation in Gaza can help bring them home. He adds that all of Israel’s leadership understands the scale of the mission, and is determined to return the captives.

Turning to world leaders, Gantz says “there is no diplomatic time limit, only an operational clock.”

“We will do what is right for us,” he says, calling on the world to keep the pressure on Hamas.

Article 5

Mexico is a U.S. ally. Its government isn't going to send militant invaders across our border. Canada is also a valued U.S. ally. All three of our countries have governments who work very hard to maintain peace with one another and I do believe it will stay that way.
Duh...obviously I do not expect Mexico to invade San Diego. That was not my point.

The point is, Israel was invaded by 1500 militant terrorists, who slaughtered women, children, babies and grandparents in their own homes. That insane situation is lost on many, imo.
Because of the war between the Hamas and Israel governments, the U.S. government has increased border vigilance so that terrorists do not gain entry to inflict terror on Americans. Our local FBI, police and sheriff depts. recently announced they have stepped up surveillance/protection of places of worship and schools.

afaik, the governments of Israel and Hamas do not share a history of cooperation or willingness to co-exist and it is their civilians who are experiencing incredible human tragedy.

Israel has shown a willingness to co-exist with their neighbours. They have given work visas and entries to thousands of Gaza citizens for many years. Many Israeli citizens have been volunteering to help Gaza citizens by driving them to Israel for medical help and other necessities.
JMO

There has been a marked increase in Border Patrol apprehensions of individuals with matches on the U.S. terror watchlist over the past two years. But they represent a tiny fraction of all migrants processed along the southern border. Such incidents are more common along the U.S.-Canada border, and not all those on the watchlist are suspected terrorists.

Netanyahu: "The war inside Gaza is going to be long"

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Saturday drew a connection between the conflict with Hamas and the Arab-Israeli War between 1947 and 1949, which occurred as Israel declared its independence.

“The war inside Gaza is going to be long. This is our second independence war. We're going to save our country,” Netanyahu said.
