Military chief enters Gaza to hold assessment with Israeli forces​

IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Herzi Halevi held an assessment with forces inside the Gaza Strip today, the military announces.

A video released by the IDF shows Halevi meeting with the commander of the 162nd Division, Brig. Gen. Itzik Cohen, and other officers.

The courage of the IDF Chief of Staff to enter the Gaza Strip is amazing. He knows anything could happen.

These IDF soldiers are all so brave, IMO.

Compare that to “men” whose choice was to kill babies and so many innocent, unarmed civilians; asleep, dancing, or otherwise unprepared for their murder.

Hamas terror reign will have a very long term and far reaching effect on Palestinians. I don’t think anyone chanting that genocidal chant at rallies is thinking this far ahead nor do I think a majority of them understand what they are chanting. IMO

If I'm reading this proposed legislation correctly, then this legislation would apply to anyone who holds a passport issued by the Palestinian Authority and entered the U.S. after October 1, 2023. In addition, it would bar entry to the U.S. for holders of passports issued by the Palestinian Authority.

Basically, it says that the U.S. does not recognize passports issued by the Palestine Authority beginning October 1, 2023.

Gallant vows Israel will kill Sinwar, says if Gazans reach him first ‘it will shorten the war’​

After touring the northern border today, Defense Minister Yoav Gallant says he was told by reserve soldiers that they are prepared “to fight until victory.”

“There are fighters here who are prepared to do everything,” Gallant says during a press conference.

“This determination characterizes the entire population of Israel,” he adds.

Gallant says Israeli forces are engaged in “difficult” battles with terrorists in Gaza over Shabbat and are attacking Gaza City from both the south and north.

According to Gallant, Israel has far killed 12 Hamas battalion commanders.

“We’ll reach everyone, the chain of command fighters on the ground,” he says.

“We’ll reach Yahya Sinwar, we’ll take him out,” Gallant continues, referring to the Hamas leader in Gaza. He says that if Gazans get their hands on Sinwar first, “it will shorten the war.”

IDF says it struck Hamas sites using intel from interrogation of terrorist​

The Israel Defense Forces says fighter jets struck a Hamas site on the roof of a building in the Gaza Strip, as well as a tunnel near the building, following intelligence information gathered from the Shin Bet interrogation of a Hamas terrorist.

Ground forces also battled gunmen in the Strip today, killing several of them, seizing weapons and intelligence materials, and locating tunnels, the IDF adds.

The IDF has struck some 120 targets in the Gaza Strip today, including Hamas compounds and anti-tank launch positions.

One of the main challenges the ground forces are facing in Gaza is terror operatives coming out of tunnels and launching RPGs at armored vehicles, though only a handful of cases have resulted in fatalities.

IDF releases recording of tank commander helping infantry troops before being killed in Gaza​

The Israel Defense Forces releases the last recording of Lt. Col. Salman Habaka, the commander of the 188th Armored Brigade’s 53rd Battalion, shortly before he was killed during fighting in the Gaza Strip on Thursday.

Habaka had assisted the Golani Brigade’s 13th Battalion during a fierce overnight clash, in which troops managed to fend off a Hamas ambush.

“Can I help you with something? Immediate extraction? Over,” Habaka is heard saying over the radio to the 13th Battalion’s commander, Lt. Col. Tomer Greenberg.

Greenberg asks Habaka to keep his forces in the area to cover them, in order to deploy more troops out of their armored vehicles amid the battle.

“I rescued you, now you’ve come to help me. Over,” Greenberg says.

Habaka was killed later that night during clashes with Hamas gunmen.

More Palestinians from Gaza arrive in Egypt for medical treatment, Egyptian official says​

A total of 84 Palestinians needing urgent medical treatment have entered Egypt through the Rafah border crossing so far as of Saturday, an Egyptian government official told CNN.

The injured Palestinians all had injuries sustained from airstrikes, according to the official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity since they are not authorized to speak to the media.

Most are currently receiving treatment in hospitals across the country, and more are expected to arrive in the coming days, the official added.

Blinken also "reiterated his thanks to the Qatari government for its work to secure the exit of U.S. citizens and foreign nationals from Gaza, the release of hostages held by Hamas, including two U.S. citizens, and continued efforts to prevent the conflict from spreading."

Qatar has served as a key negotiator in discussions with Hamas amid the conflict in Israel and Gaza. The US has credited the Gulf nation for its help in securing the release of four hostages held by the group, as well as for the eventual opening of the Rafah border crossing between Gaza and Egypt.

Erdoğan accuses international community of 'turning a blind eye' to violence in Gaza​

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan accused Israel of "deliberately attempting to destroy Gaza’s healthcare system," in a statement in which he condemned ongoing Israeli attacks on the enclave and accused the international community of “turning a blind eye” to the situation in the enclave.

In a statement released on X by Turkey’s Directorate of Communications, Erdoğan said that Netanyahu was the “main person to blame” for the ongoing siege of Gaza. “For us, Netanyahu is no longer approachable," Erdoğan said. "We severed ties with him.”

Erdoğan added that Turkey would not support “gradually erasing Palestinians from history.” Separately, he told reporters that Gaza must be part of an independent, sovereign Palestinian state, once the Israel-Hamas war is over, according to Reuters.

Erdoğan's increasing hostility to Netanyahu has put him at odds with other NATO members and the E.U., which Turkey has long hoped to join. The Turkish president initially pitched himself as a potential mediator in Israel’s war with Hamas, having previously had relations with both parties.

Adato told the publication that Sinwar survived a brain tumor thanks to an operation Israeli doctors carried out while Sinwar was serving multiple life sentences for the kidnapping and murder of two Israeli soldiers in 1988.

Responding to claims that Israeli prisons were holding Palestinian prisoners in inhumane conditions, Adato brought up Sinwar's case and said it was the only reason he's alive today.

"When they say they are not being treated well, I would ask you and others to give a phone call to one specific person, Yahya Sinwar, who is alive nowadays just because of life-saving surgery he was given," she said.

Hamas publishes footage of its members attacking IDF armored vehicles in the Gaza Strip. The IDF is aware that one of the main challenges ground forces are facing is terror operatives coming out of tunnels and launching RPGs, though only a handful of cases have resulted in fatalities, The military believes the armor is holding up against the attacks in the vast majority of cases.

National Security Council official says one third of Hamas' list of Palestinians hoping to leave Gaza were Hamas fighters​

A senior administration official at the National Security Council said negotiations to get Americans out of Gaza through Rafah crossing were delayed by Hamas trying to include its own fighters in the list of wounded Palestinians.

On an initial list sent to the council by Hamas, one third of the names hoping to leave Gaza were members of the terrorist organization, said the official.

"It was just unacceptable to Egypt, to us, to Israel," said the official. "And so, this went on for some time. Eventually what was worked out was that the wounded Palestinian civilians leaving with the foreign nationals were not Hamas fighters."

6,000 foreign nationals, including around 400-500 U.S. citizens and their families, cannot leave Gaza, "because Hamas would not allow anybody to leave," said the official.

The official added that another cause for delay when opening the Rafah crossing was the need to resolve Egypt’s concerns stemming from a 2008 episode when thousands of Palestinian civilians breached the Rafah crossing into Egypt.
