I certainly hope not! Captain Sch*ttino should not be recognized for his heroism if he decides to take his own life. The media would love this, I'm sure, and the headline might be:

From the prostecuting states perspective it would be cheaper if he committed suicide. And no I don't really think he will, though I do expect an an announcement that he is "suicidal" at some point.

I don't have a link but watching IE this AM they are saying his wife is supporting him, and even goes so far as to call him a hero......

CNN report a few minutes ago: Search is still considered a "rescue" but will likely become a "recovery" A mother said that she wants her daughter to be brought home. Thoughts and prayers for the families of the victims.

I have to wonder. Have they managed to search all the areas of the ships that are above water? How about those that are just at waters surface? I don't know, it just seems too soon.

There was just a brief segment on the Costa Concordia tragedy on Inside Edition. Video will eventually be available on the IE website: www.insideedition.com

The segment includes an interview with a young blonde cruise staffer whom the Captain was wining and dining at the time of the incident. Also, reports about some of the missing and/or deceased passengers.

Yesterday there was an article on my IPS news feed regarding the rescue and there was a sentence that said something about (paraphrasing) 'visual evidence showed some bodies were at the bottom of the sea'.

I was going to post it but when I went back to do so, that sentence had been removed.

Just FYI as to a possible reason some have not been found as yet and why they want to get to recovery mode.

I guess we shall see as this continues.

Blonde ballerina Domnica Cemortan, who has dual Moldovan and Romanian citizenship, said she was dining with friends at the time of the disaster and denied that the captain was also having drinks on deck.

The captain of the Costa Concordia ordered dinner for himself and a woman after the ship struck rocks off Italy's coast, a cook from the ship told a Filipino television station.

In an interview with GMA Network, cook Rogelio Barista said Capt. Francesco Schettino ordered dinner less than an hour after the accident.

LOL now his bro in law is saying he came down from the ship to survey damage.... guess that might work better than he fell in the lifeboat. But still doesn't explain why he refused to go back on the ship to help with the evacuation. Whoops, I forgot it was dark so he couldn't get back on. Wouldn't it be hard to survey the damage in the dark?

Ballerina sounds like she doesn't want to talk to investigators.


Of the two articles above, it says that they hit the rocks at 9:41 pm, the coast guard first called the ship about 10:12 pm (roughly 30 min from the crash) and was told that it was an electrical problem, a black out was mentioned. The cook says that the captain ordered dinner for himself and a woman at 10:30 pm (roughly 45 min from the crash).

I was afraid of this, If they jumped or fell from ship and ship flipped over, they were trapped under it and drowned in water.
Crushed.........this is horrendous!
and so unsafe for the people trying to get them back for loved ones.
This all was so preventable, thanks to chicken of the sea and his head waiter!:furious:

anyone else think she has said this exact thing to her friends, but with a few small differences:

“[Capt. Schettino] is one of the best captains in the company. He is very skillful and experienced when it comes to manoeuvring (his) "ship" in enclosed spaces, like (guest cabins)".
