"Tribble was last seen at the Palmettos of Bluffton, an assisted living facility at 3035 Okatie Highway. According to BCSO, he was seen leaving the facility at 6 p.m. on Tuesday wearing black pants, a tan jacket, a white shirt and an orange hat."

Local to me. LE has exhausted their ground search but are still calling it an active investigation. It's so hot during the day here...I've seen LE out walking along 170 looking for any clues/items (I assume) as late as Thursday the 25th. They are asking people to look at their Ring cameras as well.

omg discontinued ground searches, and don't search areas you are unfamiliar with? Poor Mr. Tribble, this is outrageous, I added him to my prayers. Shame on them. I also question the facility's responsibility. Infuriating. Their website indicates in parts snipped by me, .. in a safe and supportive environment. ... attentive caregivers always within reach, our residents and their families can rest easy knowing that the quality care they or their loved one needs is always available. Residents and families can confidently put their trust in The Palmettos.

I am so very thankful, my wonderful Daddy, may he rest in peace, when in his last stages with dementia, was in a safe, secure, attentive location with incredible caring doctors, nurses and caregivers.

I know.... I don't have a link to back it up but supposedly he opened a door for a construction worker and then slipped out. It's just so sad. Edit- Held open a door and then walked out.

Gosh it’s 5 days today that he’s been missing. Not good at all. What if it was a child? He is very vulnerable.
If it was a construction worker that was not facility staff that he held the door open for did that worker not know that this was an assisted living facility and that he probably shouldn’t let anyone knowingly leave?
Was this a locked facility?

Yes, he's very vulnerable. If you look at the facility website, there are many options for care that promote as much independence as possible. I have no idea what his individual living arrangement was. As far as the construction worker goes....well, I'd hope there would be more care taken when working at a site as this but I'm not surprised.

I wonder why a staff member, security, volunteer or otherwise, was not watching the exit construction workers were going in and out of?

He probably was. And some dementia patient’s present really well with no mobility aides, etc… If the worker wasn’t told anything it’s not on them at all I don’t think.

I wondered the same when I first read about Mr. Tribble's disappearance. My guess is this is a result of a relaxation in policy/procedure enforcement. I've seen this happen in some schools and elder care facilities where in the midst of the daily routines the goings on aren't always 'by the book'. Unfortunately, it's not the case that everyone (including employees, residents/students, guests, and vendors) always follows the rules and recommendations set out to keep everybody safe. Usually all is okay until something like this happens.

I hope they find Mr. Tribble soon. It's already been 6 days.

Looking at the facility's address on Google Earth, there are many ponds & water features near there. I hope they are checking those!

Just sharing link again to "Find" page on FB. Looks like as of 40 minutes ago they are searching a pond in the Lawton Station housing development. Edit- Supposedly a lead same in that there was a possible sighting Wednesday afternoon in that area.

This just breaks my heart. My Dad went into assisted living (he didn't want to live with us in the "big city"). It was very $$$ (medicare didn't cover it, I paid out of pocket) but they had good security measures. He couldn't leave the building without punching into a code for the door and it changed daily. Even with the code, someone would sign him out and back in. I do hope this man is found.

Oh dear, poor Mr. Tribble.
I pray he was not in distress when he died, though I fear he was.
Nobody wants their loved one to die alone unless that was their wish.
These circumstances are troubling, and Mr. Tribble’s family must be so pained that this was able to happen. God bless them all. And if there was lapse in security present that set the stage for Mr. Tribble’s death, may it be righted so that other families do not have to experience this sort of tragic loss.
