good lord

only pictures can explain

Flooding has killed at least 41 people and forced 2 million others to flee their homes Saturday as heavy rain pounded large areas in southwestern Japan.

At least 51 people have been injured and another 36 people are missing, according to the Fire and Disaster Management Agency of Japan.

Japan floods and heavy rain leave 41 dead, dozens missing - CNN

What climate change?

I put myself on a news timeout today - too much madness - and had this urge to check headlines about 15 min ago

That's terrible. I was going to say that at least it isn't snow, but I think the snow would be much easier to survive.

Oh this is horrible, my daughter spent a year in Japan in one of the affected areas. I hope her exchange family is OK...

Thoughts with the people of Japan. I hope the fatality rate won't climb.

Mud slides! Horrifying. Mother Nature can be brutal. Pray for the lost and the survivors.

My daughter is there right now with her friends. They are safe. They are in their way to Tokyo tomorrow.

My nephew is there. Trying to check on him.

My daughter lives in Osaka and she said the city wasn't affected too much so far other than disrupted transit but the surrounding prefectures got it pretty bad. The city is on alert with the possibility it could worsen. This is right on the heels of last month's 6.1 earthquake. I want to teleport her home.
