Why don't they stay with one seivert or another!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! arghhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

  • #902
They would not run from microsievert levels, imo.

  • #903
OK this may be stupid and I know there is a no fly zone and all that, but would it be feasible to use those super scooper water droppin' airplanes like they use on our wild fires out here? Wasn't there talk of helicopters dropping water anyway? These aircraft could fill up in the ocean and keep dumping tons of seawater.
this is not a stupid question many people Ive talked too have said the same thing.. :waitasec:

They didn't explain anything, other than they don't know wth is happening. jmo

  • #905
I think they are purposely trying to keep everyone confused regarding the numbers.

  • #906
I'm wondering if they left because they know there is fixing to be a big boom?

I'm thinking the same thing. I bet him and his crew are getting the heck out of there.

They have have graphics with numbers now. But it's in Japanese.

Fukushima workers withdraw after radiation spikes

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-pacific-12755739

Quote: Mr Edano also said that the radiation levels were now falling: from 1,000 millisieverts on Wednesday morning to 600-800.

(millisieverts NOT microsieverts-- that presser was nuts)

The IAEA site does get bogged down and hard to get into periodically, but just keep trying-Latest update from the UN watchdogs:
Japan Earthquake Update (16 March 2011, 03:55 UTC)

Japanese authorities have informed the IAEA that a fire in the reactor building of unit 4 of the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant was visually observed at 20:45 UTC of 15 March. As of 21:15 UTC of the same day, the fire could no longer be observed.
Fire of 14 March
As previously reported, at 23:54 UTC of 14 March a fire had occurred at unit 4. The fire lasted around two hours and was confirmed to be extinguished at 02:00 UTC of 15 March.
Water level in unit 5
Japanese authorities have also informed the IAEA that at 12:00 UTC of 15 March the water level in unit 5 had decreased to 201 cm above the top of the fuel. This was a 40 cm decrease since 07:00 UTC of 15 March. Officials at the plant were planning to use an operational diesel generator in unit 6 to supply water to unit 5.
The IAEA continues to liaise with the Japanese authorities and is monitoring the situation as it evolves.

All workers evacuated according to CNN and Fox. They are walking away from it (suspending the operation on fox's website). God help them all. This has got to be the worst disaster in history and I fear it is about to get worse.

Anderson is now on tape - this was earlier. Notice its not snowing.

Jim Walsh on CNN looks VERY serious.

My friend is okay. Just heard from him tonight and wanted to tell you all. I danced with relief. He went to his restaurant and checked it out today, saw damage. He had no power, no water. He did get the messages that we had been calling there. He said he called the water company to come out and fix his pipes. He said they told him he was wayyyy down on his list. He didn't grasp the severity. He wondered about power and why he couldn't get them to work on it and we had to tell him about the nuclear reactors and he had heard "something." He doesn't know a lot; we know more than he does. He tried to go to the motorcycle factory that he grew up in Sendai and see if his friends and family are alive but they won't let him past the reactors. He does believe they are all dead. So, with mixed feelings I had to tell you guys, I heard from my friend Saman tonight, and he is okay. He doesn't know what to do. He's stuck but okay.

I'm just going to say I agree with CNN....why haven't the big dogs like the IAEA, been there already?

But he is talking to Walsh about the workers being pulled. I am way confused as to when this was. good grief. And you are right---it was really snowing a little bit ago and now nothing. Maybe it just stopped??

Tokyo Electric Power has found it difficult to spray water from a helicopter to cool down a storage pool for spent nuclear fuel inside the No.4 reactor at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant.

http://www3.nhk.or.jp/daily/english/16_05.html

The article goes on to say that the hole in No. 4 is "dozens of meters from the storage pool", and helicopters can only hold a limited amount of water. So maybe those super scoopers would work. On the other hand, this article doesn't mention what Owl posted about the danger from the pressure of dumping large amounts of water.

CNN is replaying the last hour show. Regrouping perhaps?

I know that it was on Saturday that I read that IAEA was getting their info from Tepco. Their hands were tied, so to speak. Big mistake----big mistake.

This was his first hour tonight. This weather guy - I remember seeing him and explaining all this earlier. Wonder why they went to tape? Last night they did because Anderson had to leave. But tonight?
