I wonder if the nuclear fall out dangers were told to the united states when we dropped two nuclear bombs on Japan during WWII? I wonder if the radiation from those bombs have gotten to the US yet?

Maybe that explains the Flower Children of the late 1960s and early 1970s. Eh? Those baby boomers were exposed to invisible radiation floating around the globe for years and years after.

I think the message we should be receiving is listen to what we are being told, but BE PREPARED, because sometimes (most of the time?), we aren't told the truth. Our safety is up to us and we can't depend on the government for anything, except taxes.

Federal environmental regulators say they are adding more radiation monitors in the western United States and Pacific territories as concerns rise over exposure from damaged nuclear plants in Japan.

Guess the feds are concerned enough to add more monitors.. this tells me they are not that sure what might happen.

I think it's the #4 reactor's spent fuel pool that is dry.

It depends on if the containment vessel has been breached... Without water, the rods will heat up...

If the container is still intact there is no immediate issue...

Ok so this link says:The EPA says data from the monitors are available on its website for coastal states, Hawaii, Guam and American Samoa.

If they aren't covered with water & cooled very soon, they will burn & melt - and emit hazardous levels of radiation.

This number of fuel rods have more radioactivity than a core meltdown. HUGE amount of radiation being released. mo
