Jason Wishert Has Threatened My Family.

  • #81
Hi, gitana... he said this in his letter:

Once I begin my retaliation upon you, the only way I'll stop is for you to remove my name and all references to my family entirely from all your websites, publish an apology, and pay me the sum of $743,000.00 in damages.

Thanks. Okay, I don't know why I missed that. Delusion.

Blackmail is illegal please get ahold of his and your local LE asap.

BTW i think he has a few screws lose ( this is MY personal Opinion )and he is more then welcome to sue ME for saying so.

We'll need a doctor with a flashlight to explain that.

And, don't forget...the exam gloves cuz JW had to pull that figure outta somewhere...lol

Tricia...you don't deserve this kind of harassment! Hugs!

Some fools will go to any lengths for attention. Sounds like he hasn't been getting enough lately.

I'm so sorry that you've been subjected to this nonsense, Tricia. You're absolutely right to take his threats seriously. I've read some of his posts around the web. The guy's been asking for trouble. Do you what you've got to do. FWIW, I support you 110%

Jason inserted himself into the media coverage about Kyron. Instead of just contacting LE about what he knows about DDS, he also contacted the media. He made the decision to go after some media spotlight with interviews and the letter he wrote for the media.

He must be missing the media spotlight by now. Does anyone have a contact with the Portland media? If so, please point them to this thread. Jason needs more media attention, and this thread would be perfect for showcasing him ... and his family.

Since his first try at 15 minutes of fame did not go well (negative comments on forums), I cannot understand why would he would think his threatening email to Tricia will show him in a more positive light.

I haven't posted here in a month or so, I needed a break from the frustration that has become this case.

But prior to that, I read everything I could about it. And I have to say, I didn't know who on earth this man was, or what could motivate him to threaten another person and their family. I knew Dede had a boyfriend that gave some interviews... but that was all. So I believe that perhaps whatever negative exposure he feels he's received, is probably blown out of proportion in his mind.

That being said, how on earth could the exboyfriend of the bestfriend of the stepmother of the precious child have gotten himself knee deep into something he probably knows nothing about?

I lose more faith in humanity everyday.

Hi Tricia,

Can I make a small suggestion? Do you want to keep your street address on your posts?

Just worried about you.

Hugs,

Mel

Where on earth did he get that figure?

Anyway--it's a shame that this case about Kyron has evolved into this... mess. I hope that Mr. Wishert realizes the futility of his threats and drops his silliness.

I have a thought; Kyron was 7 when he vanished into thin air, and DeDe is 43 years old according to the article. wala, 743. He's been working as a "child advocate" for 10 years and it's 2010 now, so he became a child's advocate in the year 2000, so there you get the three zeros. Oh my, did I say "three?" ... lol

Honestly I have no clue, but he has no one to blame but himself for putting himself out there. One thing though, imo, is when a person puts themselves into a case, then something may be up.

So, he dated DeDe for 10 months in 2009. She was friends with TH for years, I don't remember how long, but anyhow, he must have met Kyron, and Kaine, and possibly around the time TH had baby K?

What kind of "child advocate" is he, btw?
tia

moo and all that.

Trisha, though I'm sure many violent crime offenders dislike your forums, I'm sure you already know what an encouragement, and comfort they are to victims' families. God Bless you abundantly for all you do.

IANAL, but that sounds like a threat of extortion to me.

It very much does.

Wow, when I read the very wordy letter he wrote a while back about his relationship with DDS I just thought it was written by someone who might be a bit out there. I may need to re-evaluate my original thoughts.

Stay safe.

ETA: It just occurred to me how ironic it is that he posted/wrote some less than flattering things about DDS, insinuating that he thought she should be looked into further concerning Kyron's disappearance. And sent his opinions to the press to make sure everyone saw it. What is that old saying? Something about a goose and gander....

I gave a friend a synopsis of this case and the issue with Mr. Wishert. Her immediate response was, "Did he take the kid?" I don't for a moment believe that's the case but the instability that is apparent from the letter to Tricia combined with the bizarre letter to MSM about DeDe makes me understand this response.

Wow! so sorry Tricia please be safe. The tone of the letter is very disturbing.

I must had miss the posts here but read plenty else where that I by pass.

He had no information that would help find Kyron. I never did understand why he put his self out there.

This is what I found on him sorry if post already.
http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Who_is_wishert

Wishert may refer to the last name of Jason Wishert of Multnomah County, Oregon. Mr. Wishert is a 6 time Oregon Supreme Court appointee, elected to the OJD State Advisory Council in July 2006 at age 37, and a writer with several articles published in The Hillsboro Argus in 2008. His biography states he is pursuing a criminal justice degree at Washington State University. He is founder and owner of Embassy Enterprises, an Oregon based fencing company.

Mr. Wishert is a child advocate, serving on a board that provides Judicial oversight to children placed in State custody. He is a supporter of several non-profit child outreach organizations including CCF out of Richmond and Friends of Pimpollo out of Salem Oregon. His personal motto is "Trust God Everyday, and Never Give Up".

That only the part that gave me a hinky pause. Being that we talking about a missing little boy.

Okay, this is very odd. Did this guy post this about himself? An OR Supreme Court appointee? Is he saying he was a commissioner for the court? What?

I'm very glad Tricia has taken steps to protect herself. Tricia, clearly he has no case. The basics of libel law prove that. He is definitely a public figure, for one, which means, for those who would like to know, that in order to win damages, one must show actual malice existed in the publishing of FALSE information. Actual malice means the person publishing knew the statement was false or acted with reckless disregard to its veracity. It makes it a bit harder to win a libel case, then, when a person suing is a public figure and that would be anyone who inserts themselves publicly into a high profile case such as this. It would also apply to people who do not willingly insert themselves into public issues but are there anyhow, like the miners in Chile, for example.
In any event, even if Mr. Wishert was not a public figure, he would have a real hard time proving any case due to posts on websleuths. He could not do it because the TOS are strict here. No one made any allegations against him of any kind in past posts as I recall. There were just questions and concerns about the tone and content of his letter to the press. Saying, for example, "Wow. This guys seems a bit odd. Why is he so concerned with what DeDe ate or how clean she was?", that's not a false statement. It's a statement based on what was before us at the time.
Now we are making some assumptions about Mr. Wishert, based on the past letter to the MSM coupled with his extortion attempt against Tricia. Those assumptions would not constitute libel either because he could not prove those assumptions are false or that we know them to be false. I think we have excellent grounds to be concerned at this point about the danger Mr. Wishert may pose to Tricia and her family as well as other website owners and their families and to come to some conclusions about the motivations of this man as a result.
I love this site. It's a joy to come here and have real discussions rather than having to sift through immature attacks on other posters or victims or against witnesses or suspects. It's wonderful not to have to read foul language rants every other post. Things happen here. Our input has helped to solve serious cases, because this is a serious website with devoted mods who work hard to make sure it stays a top notch site. That's why Mr. Wishert has no case and never will.
But Tricia does:
Extortion: The obtaining of property from another induced by wrongful use of actual or threatened force, violence, or fear, or under color of official right. http://legal-dictionary.thefreedictionary.com/extortion
Tricia, thank you so much for having this excellent site, devoted to solving crimes and preventing others from occurring. We all appreciate it so very much. Take care of your family and yourself!

This boy has a serious judgment problem. He's his own worst enemy. Writes a threatening letter with (IMO) all the evidence you'd need to get a restraining order against him. Hopefully, you have one by now; I'm betting it won't be the first one he's ever had taken out against him.

All the millions his family business makes while he eats stale bread and ramen noodles. :shakehead: And to think WS has ruined his family too. :floorlaugh:

Wild guess: $743,000 is the net present value of an estimated calculation of future lost income from his non-existent career in criminal justice. :blushing:

In all honesty, I'm sending a prayer up that he seeks and gets some qualified counseling and changes his major to English & Literature. He was never going to make it in criminal justice. Certainly not after the Dede pscho-babble backstabbing ex-boyfriend mess he so carelessly slopped up for publishing in the newspaper. However, he could sharpen those skills and write a great crime story some day.

I'm sorry you have to experience this - even when you know it's foolishness, it still must be very unsettling to know someone would think it's wise to outright threaten you.

Hang in there, Tricia! And thanks again for letting me play in your forum. :blowkiss:
Or maybe just the total of his student loans. :p

I will await his arrest for those letters, Tricia.

That is a highly disturbing/threatening letter directed at you and things/people you hold dearest.. coupled with a money amount....
I hope he is put in jail for these threats... If he is not arrested for them, I will be shocked....

So much for child advocatcy... He has sealed his own fate with this letter... what an idiot.....

what a foolish man. I had to google at the second post because I had completely forgotten he existed. I bet I wasnt the only one. now I remember and wont forget again. what a thing to do to himself.

I understand being very sensitive as I am myself. but he thrust himself up into the public, if I recall correctly wasnt he the one that sent his letter to media before LE?

if not, being in the public eye surely was not his fault yet we're all entitled to an opinion. but this is not the way to handle it at all. now he looks petty.

ETA so he was indeed the one who sent the mail about DS to the MEDIA. shaking my head right now.

I mostly lurk, I posted once but I did it wrong, sorry about that!

First of all, Tricia, I am so sorry you have to deal with this. I agree with everyone, it is not to be taken lightly and I'm glad you've contacted your lawyer and LE.

The whole letter is bizarre. One thing stuck out to me though, "Think about all that the internet community has learned about me in the past two months, then ask yourself if I am capable of delivering on what I say."

So he wants posts removed because he doesn't want people believing what they read about him online. But then says go read about me on the Internet to decide about my ability to "[deliver] on what I say."

That line made me wonder right away if he'd ever made any other threats before. Hmmm. Why would anybody want to raise such suspicions?

Maybe he's under a lot of stress and you know, part of me empathizes a bit. I hate to see people having a hard time. But almost always, we create our own problems (self included). And we just have to learn from our mistakes and move on, making things worse is not a solution! But I know, easier said than done.

I hope he calms down, thinks things through, talks about it with someone and realizes this is just not the way to fix anything.

MOO

That was my exact thought, too. I have to tell you, though, I am a little surprised he even knew of this way of assessing damages.

I totally forgot about the ramen noodle and stale bread thing. Let's say his family really is worth the amount he said they were...unless I really burned some major bridge with them, I'd never have to ration what I eat like that, and I'd probably be working for them in some cushy capacity. Me thinks there's a disconnect here.

If I can take anything away from this, it's that DeDe exercised poor judgment involving herself with one Jason Wishert, and one has to wonder if that same poor judgment was exercised with other people.

Just because someone says they are someone else's ex, doesn't make it so.

Tricia, I am laughing in disbelief.

I've posted to usenet since sometime in 1994 and have been the recipient of quite a few similar missives. As I am more than a little crazy and have a strongly developed fight reflex, I've done things like put my real address and real phone number on usenet, with an invitation to the writers of such letters to come talk to me face to face.

For some reason unknown to me, none of them have ever done so. You'd think that at least ONE of them would make good on their threats!

It could be that I just don't get off the farm often enough and am, therefore, too easily amused.

If you want to find several people who write posts like Mr. Wishert's letters to you, I suggest you check alt.kooks. Not only are there people like Mr. Wishert there, there are also ratings and monthly awards for them.

Take your ordinary level of precautions and look back on this in five years (or maybe just five months) for a good laugh.

Websleuths is my home and I've only read on one other forum (sm), the reason being I heard JW was posting there and I had to know if he really was. Believe me, anything said here is mild considering what was there, and he was right in the middle of it! I have to wonder if he is supposed to be on medication.

I think you AND Dede have a great chance of winning a serious lawsuit against this guy. He badmouths others, then threatens and promises harm to someone he perceives talked bad to him? But be careful in the meantime-this guy sounds seriously unbalanced and dangerous. His letter alone is enough to stop him from being a child advocate-if he really is one, has a copy of this letter been shown to his employers/coworkers? Or whoever determines his 'cases'? This person sounds far too dangerous to be allowed around children. I think if he is intimidating harrassing and threatening to harm or stalk any other forum owners as well, you all have grounds for a lawsuit, as well as serious LE attention. JMO

So let me get this straight. His family makes 50 million dollars a year yet he was eating Ramon noodles?
He injected himself into this saga, all by himself, and now he's threatening you and your family? Actually it sounds like extortion to me, with a side order of a threat.

I don't think he did himself any favors in writing these threatening letters to you. He should have just left things go, we had stopped discussing him long ago, unless that is why he did this, maybe he wanted us to discuss him more?

Stay safe Tricia - I sense unstable in his words.

Huh.

1. My first thought is that when someone waits until the spotlight is off them to complain, it's because they want that spotlight back. He's posted prolifically on other forums and written letters to the newspaper, so clearly he wanted the publicity. He no longer has it - coincidence that now that no one can really remember who he is, he starts to make a fuss?

2. As an employer, I would never hire someone who has written threatening letters to another person as Mr. Wishert just has. If his potential employers search the internet, they will find other people's opinions but more importantly they will find Mr. Wishert's own words - which clearly show a personality incompatible with criminal justice or involvement with children. I'm completely disturbed that the man who wrote the threatening email has ever interacted with children and if what he says is true about being unemployable in criminal justice fields, I'm relieved that the employers have made that choice not to employ him, on the public's behalf.

3. Here is someone who is tangentially related to a missing child, who is threatening what sounds like violence and extortion. I'm glad you gave this evidence to LE and hope this man is investigated further.
