JB and BC worked for the MDCPD at the same time.

This is really old news--there was a thread on this months and months ago--turns out it's not true--IIRC, he was in law school during the time and could not have been representing clients by himself in court--certainly not if any jail time would have occurred from the offense.

Was the thread about BC and JB working together or just JB's record?

  • #22
JB racked up a record of winning 32 of his first 34 trials and one loss was overturned on appeal.

Given that DC, who wasn't working for JB at the time , was out looking to, IMO, destroy evidence does JB's record in the MDCPD seem at all hinky?

When JB's handling of this case seems to fall under the worst lawyering I remember ever seeing it really makes me ponder what was going on back then.

It's got me doing a :waitasec:

Also, BC was working for MDCPD with overlapping time with JB it may have nothing to do with anything but supposedly DC was working for A's.

Just something that makes me go

(my bold)

I continue to be totally blown away by the 'coincidences' in this case, and I think that folks should continue to scrutinize JB's & BC's actions.

He has only had a law degree for 3 years. He just got into the bar in 2005 in Florida. I don't know how he got that record considering he was not practicing attorney then.

How could BC overlapped with JB unless JB was doing something else for the Public Defender's office. As far as I know, most newly licensed attorney start out as Public Defender's, so I imagine many know each other.

I find it extremely interesting that everything that surrounds Cindy ,George and Lee and the people who are suppose to be helping the Anthonys. They all seem to be connected to JB one way or another, with the exception Of Mark NeJame they have all done things to make you go:eek:they have made alot of people turn against Grieving Grandparents and Uncle. I am starting to believe JB is Dumb as a Fox................JMO

Only JB's claim that he had 32 wins (or whatever number) and a reversal on appeal. I recall even looking it up myself and he was a law student and not qualified to do such work--even as an intern.

Sounds like he is a good lawyer to me. 32 of 34 wins and one loss overturned? That is an impressive record by anyone's standards.

But then who can convince her of anything, she knows it all
.

Was this before he finished school and worked under another atty? or was this actual cases he worked on his own? IIRC he interned for two years while in law school (but he claims it as a job on his resume`)? Then he says he worked for a 'non profit or something' for a few years between finishing law school and taking the bar. He was really snippy when he said this to someone questioning the time between finishing school and passing the bar.

Regarding KC, don't forget she is the CEO, the boss and in charge of her family, JB and LE. They all work for her according to Geo!

:waitasec:

Ok, he was admitted to the Florida Bar in 2005.

The other site says;

Baez is a former criminologist who received a B.S. degree in criminology from Florida State University. He began working for the Miami-Dade County Public Defender's office in 1995 and created a reputation as a fierce advocate who fought his cases until the very end and also distinguished himself by creating a division record for the most trials where he won 32 of 34 jury trials within his first two years with the office. (Note: one of his two losses was a reversed appeal). Prior to opening his own private practice, Baez worked for Lexis-Nexis, where he taught judges, lawyers, and law students about methods of using the Internet for investigation.

It seems the two don't add up.:waitasec: The Florida Bar page obviously is a much more reliable source. So I'm going to see if I can find a reliable source for a biography about him. His website's links don't work for me.

I'm going to look for a reliable source that has a biography of him.

It's probable he started working for SA office in 1995 before completing the bar exam. He probably wasn't a lawyer at that time.

My info comes from this site.

Baez, José – Member of Casey Anthony’s defense team. Casey's lead defense attorney. According to his website, Baez is a former criminologist who received a B.S. degree in criminology from Florida State University. Baez has been involved in several high-profile cases in Florida, including the defense of Nilton Diaz, Kissimmee Mayor George Gant, and Elvira Garcia.

Conway, Brad – George and Cindy Anthony’s new lawyer (after Mark Nejame quit.) Worked at public defender's office from March 1992 through December 1997 and began private practice in December 1997, specializing in criminal defense litigation. In 2004, he was voted one of Orlando's AV (top rated) criminal defense lawyers. [/quoteI think he was a law clerk who just worked on cases. jmo

. The Florida Bar Association shows Jose Angel Baez to be in good standing with them, with offices in Kissamee, Florida. He was admitted to practice in September 2005.

The man is a liar. He wasn't even an attorney when he claims to be a public defender.

This writeup says it's taken from info at the Orange County Clerk Of Courts website.

Here is an excerpt:

His history is a little shakey to say the least. Prior to becoming involved with the Caylee Anthony case, he represented Nilton Diaz, a Lake County man arrested in the death of boxer Wilfredo Vazquez’s granddaughter. Nilton Diaz has been found guilty, and is awaiting sentence.

Prior to the Diaz disaster Baez represented Kissimmee Mayor George Gant. This 2007 trial was entertainment at it’s finest. Gant had been suspended from office and accused of sexual battery in connection with a gynecology exam in 2002. This air tight case fell apart when the prosecutions star witness suddenly refused to testify. So score one for Baez, but it was hardly due to his legal abilities.

Sort of O/T but my question is how is a guy who's mayor be involved in a gynecology exam?? :waitasec:

I just can't find a comprehensive biography of this guy. Can anyone else?

He looks to be the KC of the legal world. I'll just tell them anything and they'll just believe me. Two peas in a pod.

I'm glad that two others have confirmed that his links don't work and haven't worked since at least October. Why don't they work? Well I think it's obvious now.

If KC is convicted I believe she'll get a re-trial based on ineffective counsel. :puke:

I am guessing that David Lohr didn't do his homework. I have yet to see any law student who was able to work full time while attending law school full time. Law School is not easy and Jose Baez (high school dropout) is not the most intelligent of men. I would like o see some SERIOUS investigation into this man's claims. Given his performance in court on his motions and the way he has filed them, I would venture he has very LITTLE legal experience. Has anyone verified his "criminalist" background?

Ineffectual counsel does not mean stupid or lying counsel. It means that the counsel did nothing to defend the client. Baez has hired every expert in the country (almost) and that alone will negate ineffective counsel defense imo

That's very cool to hear.

I'm extremely surprised that nobody has looked into Baez's past yet. Unfortunately we live in a society that uses investigative journalists very rarely anymore. People say crap, politicians, business men and others and it's just accepted as fact. :furious:

BTW, why is an attorney not allowed to hug a female client? I think it would just be a compassionate gesture. It's not like they were making out.

I have long been of the opinion that............. JB is either a bumbling idiot OR brilliant. Kind of reminds me of playing pool. Pretend you stink, can't play, don't know the game....then come in with the big guns AND rake it in. He may be inexperienced lead counsel, but that doesn't mean he isn't consulting with very qualified and more experienced attys. IMO, he must have something up his sleeve. Everyone is entitled to "counsel" regardless of guilt or innocence. What I believe (IMHO) is happening is an effort to trip up to prosecution on a technicality. Perfectly legal, totally unethical. IMO
