Jerry Sandusky sentenced to 30-60 years in 2012 *Appeal denied 2023*

I wonder if Sandusky will face more charges. I also wonder if they probably find past complaints going far back as Sandusky being a teen. It is far from over. :stormingmad:

I would doubt it, as he effectively has life. Unless he would face the death penalty for something, I doubt if there would be any practical reason.

Even death would be unlikely, because it would take a decade, at least, prior to execution. Gary Heidnik, who was even more brutal that Castro in Cleveland, took 11 years from being charged to being executed, and he was suicidal and I don't think was actively fighting the case. There has not been an execution in PA for about 14 years; he was the last.

Other crimes, by some of the other defendants or by persons uncharged, would be possible.

Maybe something from the Feds. Certainly they have a case although I'm unaware of the status. They did seize his computers, I believe.

Jerry Sandusky has not killed anyone as far as I known. Of course nobody knows. Jimmy Savile had 400 known victims during his reign of terror. Makes me think Sandusky has many victims as well.

Gary Heidnik is quite the sadistic torturer and murderer he is. He murdered at least 6 people. It is unknown of Ariel Castro murdered anyone, which is possible as there are other missing victims. Heidnik would be a psychopathic torture-murderers, where torture is the primary motive. In most cases, the crime has a sexual motivating factor.

He would be similar to Charles Ng and Leonard Lake, Edmund Kemper, Jeffrey Dahmer, Pedro Alonso Lopez, and Jim Jones.

Interesting he attempted suicide multiple times. Serial killers rarely commit or let alone attempt suicide.

One year after verdict, Jerry Sandusky case is a "teachable moment"

http://www.pennlive.com/midstate/index.ssf/2013/06/one_year_after_verdict_jerry_s.html#/0

It’s a side of the Jerry Sandusky child sex scandal many may never have imagined.

Throughout Pennsylvania and beyond in recent months, judges, prosecutors, college administrators, court administrators and others have literally been going to school on the Sandusky case and what it could mean for them.

“I think you’re going to find people across the spectrum who have been teaching about various elements of this,” said Ellen Staurowsky, a professor of sport management at Drexel University in Philadelphia.

He did wave around what appeared to be a redacted report from the victim in the shower McQueary saw, stating the victim claimed no abuse took place. Since he claims no abuse took place, Paterno isn't guilty of anything.
Everyone is just "horsin' around" I guess.

I had an extensive twitter exchange last night with John Ziegler regarding his claim that he has, in fact, identified V2 - (You can read the tweets on my charity Twitter - @4TreeClimbers)

I also posted the discrepancies I found in his research here

Appeal hearing set for 9/17: http://www.centredaily.com/2013/08/15/3738511/sandusky-appeal-to-be-held-sept.html

The issues:

A. Not enough time for an adequate defense.

B. Jury instructed that they may disregard the reporting time (that would not apply to Victims 1 & 6).

C. Judge should have ruled that statements referring to Calhoun were hearsay, and inadmissible.

My bet: Sandusky loses on B and C. He has an outside chance on A, but I doubt it.

Jerry Sandusky makes further headlines by writing letter from prison to producer of a documentary about Joe Paterno. Sandusky expresses his unhappiness with Penn State for settling with his victims.

Interestingly, the article states that settlement has been reached with 25 of 31 victims. The trial was only about 10-12 victims, right?

Jerry Sandusky seeking new trial; appeal to be heard Tuesday

http://www.cbssports.com/collegefoo...-seeking-new-trial-appeal-to-be-heard-Tuesday

Jerry Sandusky is planning to challenge his child molestation conviction, and his appeal will go before a Pennsylvania Superior Court Tuesday.

According to the Associated Press, a number of issues will go before the court, including a determination as to whether prosecutors improperly referenced the fact that Sandusky did not testify, a question of whether jury instructions were mishandled, and if the defense had been given enough time to review documents prior to the trial.........

Three trial Judge reviews Sanduskys' Appeal today 9/17/13

Does anybody remember Jerry and his pal attorney insisting they had adequate time to prepare and demanding a speedy trial? Yes and now they didn't ....what a waste of taxpayer dollars.

By Karen Langley / Post-Gazette Harrisburg Bureau

HARRISBURG -- Former Penn State University assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky will appeal his convictions on 45 counts of sexual abuse before a three-judge panel of the Superior Court today in Wilkes-Barre.

Sandusky was sentenced in October 2012 to serve at least 30 years in prison.

An attorney for Sandusky will argue that the trial should be thrown out for a number of reasons, according to a court filing.

Attorney Norris Gelman wrote that the court should have agreed to requests by Sandusky's trial attorney to delay the proceeding so he could review thousands of pages of discovery handed over by prosecutors. He wrote that the court erred by not instructing the jury that it could consider delays by victims in reporting their abuse. And he wrote that a prosecutor had cast doubt upon the decision not to have Sandusky testify in his own defense when the prosecutor, referring to a televised interview, said of Sandusky: "I only heard him on TV."

Sandusky will not be in the courtroom, Mr. Gelman said in a phone interview. He said his client is being kept in restricted housing in SCI Greene.

I wasn't too sure where to post this, but I thought I'd post it here.

In about 7 hours, it will be two years since there was the first reference to Jerry Sandusky/PSU scandal on Websleuths: [ame="http://www.websleuths.com/forums/showpost.php?p=7320190&postcount=567"]Websleuths Crime Sleuthing Community - View Single Post - PA PA - Ray Gricar, 59, Bellefonte, 15 April 2005 - #6[/ame]

It seems longer.

Two ironies:

1. It was not on a Sandusky thread.

2. The case referred to in the thread still has not been solved.

Jerry Sandusky, in a sense, steals show at his pension hearing: he was the only witness

http://www.pennlive.com/midstate/index.ssf/2014/01/jerry_sandusky_in_a_sense_stea.html

Jerry Sandusky’s pension forfeiture appeal ended Monday with any recommended findings by Hearing Officer Michael Bangs likely several months away......

SERS’ argument is Sandusky maintained a secret “de facto” employment with Penn State after his public 1999 retirement, as outlined in an agreement with then-Athletic Director Tim Curley.

Along with a $168,000 severance payment, free football tickets and access to fitness facilities, the two men agreed Sandusky would get on-campus office space to continue the “‘mutually beneficial relationship” between Penn State and the Second Mile.

For the forfeiture to stick, SERS must show that Sandusky was a “school employee” after 2004, when the pension forfeiture was changed to include sexual acts committed against students by school employees.

SERS attorneys tried to show Tuesday the language in his retirement agreement, and the benefits that flowed from it, meant Sandusky continued to work as a roving, goodwill ambassador for Penn State outside the bounds of his pension agreement.

But the disgraced ex-coach, testifying for the most part in a folksy, matter-of-fact manner despite handcuffs that forced a corrections officer to assist him with case exhibits, said to him they were simply perks for a job well done, and for staying at Penn State as a loyal assistant to Joe Paterno even when higher-dollar head coaching offers were coming from places like Marshall University and Temple.......
