Joan Rivers 'stopped breathing' in surgery

  • #241

So her personal specialist (ear, nose and throat md) that went to the endoscopy clinic took a selfie with her while she was under anesthesia!!??!!
The same MD that, allegedly, performed a biopsy on her vocal cords, without prior consent from her

Why hasn't this doctor been named yet?

Clinic staff probably didn't know her because she didn't practice there. Cohen is staying quiet because he knows he will be in a lot more trouble if he talks. Surely he won't admit allowing the wrongs that occurred.

I hope we will someday get to see the medical record from that day/procedure. Not likely, but we can always hope.

I still feel bad for the staff at CHO who, due to HIPAA, must remain completely silent, while Jahi McMath's family and associates are free to basically accuse them of negligence (at best) and even willful homicide at worst. It would be so hard to know that you had done your job, done it well, and have to read in the paper every day these harsh accusations with absolutely no ability to defend yourself.
I fail to see the difference between this medical record and those of Children's Hospital Oakland. The same HIPPA provisions apply! Children's Hospital Oakland is no better than this clinic IMO!!!

I wonder if Drs. Cohen and Korovin attended Joan Rivers' funeral??

You can see the medical records of these procedures if a lawsuit goes to court. If it settles, then it's less likely. Please don't put words in my mouth. And it's HIPAA, not HIPPA.

It seems Dr. Korovin likes to take care of celebrities and has had plenty of them as clients. Why, then, would it be necessary to take a selfie with Joan while she was asleep rather than awake, which I imagine Joan would have been more than willing to do? The plot sickens...

Korovin obtained her undergraduate degree at Cornell and attended medical school at Upstate Medical Center at the State University of New York, where she graduated in 1984. She did her internship at Lenox Hill Hospital, and she’s a clinical assistant professor of otolaryngology at the NYU School of Medicine, according to Independent Doctors of New York database.

Celebrity might not be willing to have photo taken while they are in an operating room not looking their best.

Love your play on words, "the plot sickens". From reading about the ENT to the stars, I get the impression this ENT considers herself a star too! The ENT's website was invisible when I checked last night. Articles stated she was often backstage treating her clients just before they were to perform. Would like to know what she carried in her black bag that was such a miraculous cure backstage.

She was giving Ariana Grande a B12 shot in the butt, which seems wierd for an ENT to do.

Well I DON'T think Children's Hospital of Oakland did their job well. In my eyes they are every bit as negligent as this clinic!!!

Of course they wouldn't. But if this doctor is her personal doctor, surely they've had opportunities to snap a photo together when Joan was looking great. Why the need for one in the procedure room? It's bizarre indeed.

Until the medical records are examined, we can't say for sure that either of these facilities are negligent. So far all we have is hearsay from "anonymous sources" in Joan's case, and not even that from anyone on the inside of CHO. If that's good enough for you, fine, but people who actually get to decide negligence from a legal point of view require more evidence than quotes from anonymous sources.

Leads me to wonder what other treatments she gives her star patients. B12 is just very strange.

I follow a really good a cappella group who has had a lot of commercial success. I saw a "behind the scenes" video which showed one of the singers, who was really sick with a throat problem (infection I believe), meeting with a doctor while on tour in Europe. She said the doctor was going to give her a B12 shot to help her "feel better". I know nothing about ENT really, so I don't know, maybe this is common. Seemed a little far fetched, but what do I know.

Maybe a little MS04?

Ha ha. He had a really LONG needle. I don't know why that was neccessary. I used to work ICU, where most of our meds were given IV. Occasionally I would have to give something IM, which always gave me the creeps. That needle would have had me running out of the unit screaming. :D
