Jodi seems to be very turned off by smokers in her testimony.
When she returned her rented car from budget, they remarked that the car smelled like smoke.
Does anyone think she'll try to throw someone under the bus in aiding her kill Travis?
The defense is making sure the jury knows that Jodi detests smoke/smokers.

Just trying to figure out the route they are going with all this.

If there are Mormons on the jury, do you think they will judge TA harsher than they will judge JAs sexual behavior? Thoughts???

I am still unclear :waitasec: can Juan call new witnesses since the state already rested ???

Yes, he can call new witnesses on rebuttal to address any new info from the defense case.

JA has a fairly high innate IQ. She speaks in complex sentences using unusual staid phrases. The testimony has been carefully prepared and the narrative practiced many times. She has an unexpectedly large vocabulary. She speaks fluently, almost too fluently. In certain areas of inquiry, the speech is torrential as if she were on a cocaine high or manic. Her ideas are coherent and targeted for effect.
As has been noted previously, however, she is devoid of emotion. When asked how she feels or how she felt ( as if that were relevant) she pauses and carefully thinks through a vocabulary. A psychopath does not feel authentic emotion and thus must describe emotions in a way that the psychopath thinks a feeling person might feel. She comes up with words like “betrayed” disappointed” “confused” “concerned” “vexed” - words that would be used in a crime novel. Her affect is flat and her demeanor and delivery are robotic. The lies and truths mesh imperceptibly. She merges fragments of truth with fantasy with total ease.

IMO, she is an extreme version of someone with Dependant Personality Disorder. She fits it completely and it explains a lot about her demeanor.

I'm old enough to be disgusted by all the details this defendant is putting out there...be it fact or fiction. Not sure I can sit through the sex tape.
There is no requirement that anyone outside of the jury has to listen to the details of this trial. This is not a case for the squeamish and/or easily offended or those who find any level of prurience unacceptable. There are plenty of murder cases one can follow that have no sex involved. This case will tax one's delicate nature.

I can't stand the way she pretends that giving TA a 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 was so upsetting. Makes me sick.

Especially since it was her idea. And there's that text where she says she can't wait to give him a mouth hug. The girl is trying to re-write history and it's not working.

Assuming she is found guilty, how long of a break is there in the trial between that and the beginning of the penalty phase? Does it just continue the next day or do they break for a month or so?

It's hard to believe that knowing there is no court tomorrow.. that she would testify about the murder, leaving so much time for Martinez to prepare for cross. But, who knows. Nothing the defense has done so far has worked in their favor. We already know that 'self defense' doesn't fly. Perhaps they will leave the jury with the 'sex tape' to think about over the weekend. (*gross*)

I'm pretty sure there is at least one or two jury members who are sympathizing with her at this point. The question remains.. what happened that made her 'snap' and kill so brutally... not just once.. but 3 times over. We all want to know exactly what happened... but do we 'really' want to know? How does a human being (a petite woman) can kill so horrifically.
An even better question would be... how does the defense team sleep at night?

Good to have you back. I don't think she "snapped". I think she planned the whole thing. I wonder too, about the defense team. It is so revolting to me, I can't imagine coaching her, or how they live with themselves.

I can understand Juan not constantly objecting knowing the Judge would be over ruling most of the objections possibly causing some of the jurors to feel her testimony was relevant. Juan probably doesn't want to interrupt her babbling.
Hopefully giving her a cross she will never forget.:rocker:

You know how we always say men never read the instructions? I'm a woman, but I was so anxious to post, I STILL don't know what all these buttons are for. lol
My thanks button doesn't work half the time, even after I refresh. But I've got no time to figure that out now!! I've got a trial to watch. Good thing this is an understanding bunch.

Oh boy, this is me!

I agree, however, she will have precious few details because she "blacked out" and doesn't remember anything except being slammed into the wall, like her father did to her. She blacked out and woke up to Travis back in the shower.

I hope I am totally WRONG! :waitasec:

I had this thought as well. She will likely try to describe in great detail how Travis terrorized her and made her fear for her life but will pretend not to be able to give many details about the actual murder she committed.

But they would not put her on the stand if she didn;t intend to explain the killing.

I think this will be a great avenue for cross examination. If she wasnt a smoker, then why did her rental car smell of smoke when she returned it?

Did you hear the body language (I think it was?) expert on NG last night? Really interesting, she was discussing how JA's eye movements didn't connect, were incongruent, with what she was saying, such as when she was recalling memories, images , etc.

EXCEPT she was saying that from the viewpoint that Jodi is righthanded....Jodi is left handed...didn't know if it would be the same.

While I find your whole post informative and agree, I wanted to speak out to what I bolded.

BBM

I agree 1000% that her testimony has been cafefully crafted and honed for quite some time, they had years to prepare for it .....So I disagree with the post here with pictures here of Bobbie and Victor I just do not see how the defense could be that sloppy to use same names of previous friends. Sounds like a very rare coincidense but one indeed.

I anticipate a whole lot of "I don't remember, it was all a blur and happened so fast. All I remember is Travis attacked me and I reacted because I thought I was going to die." Or words to that effect ...
