I'm confused! Travis and Jodi are broken up, he calls her Hun, they have phone sex and are talking about taking trips, he's telling her it's about her, etc.
They sound like a couple to me!
Lots of ex's call each other endearing names and still fool around once in a while, including phone sex. (Not that I would ever do such a thing :what:) It doesn't make them a couple. Obviously, she knew they weren't a "couple" by her own words in the sex tape.

Darn, it was just on but I wasn't paying attention... I'm sorry! But I think so-called 'kinky sex' is what she was referring to. I have a problem with this.

For starters, she has never personally analyzed Travis, so I think such a statement is really irresponsible on her part (and I do agree with her sometimes). Second, as a behavior analyst, lawyer and her doctorate in criminal justice, she seems an odd person to reflect on human sexuality and what does/doesn't qualify as "dark".

I'm a total layperson despite growing up around and raised by mental health professionals/educators (talk about the cray cray! :) ) and took several courses in child development/psychology, so I basically know squat.

I DO know that sexually/mentally healthy adults have an enormous range of fantasies and turn ons.

I've not read but have heard about the 50 Shades series... I know people do all sorts of role-play, dress-up, like handcuffs, restraints, being tied to trees, (Dr. Jordan familiar with Chaucer's Canterbury Tales?) some people like being degraded verbally and otherwise... and some people don't like any of this.

Between consenting adults, none of these things signifies anything 'dark' or bad about their characters when part of a healthy sex life. Nor does disliking wilder stuff signify something wrong, either.

imv, Travis enjoyed raunchy/baudy conversation. He also liked to sing (badly) which I found sadly poignant and endearing.

He also seemed (in that short snippet in time) to be apologetically critical of other people that (to me) spoke more of frat-boyish immaturity and ignorance than some sort of drastic foreboding of darkness in his soul

Its really sad that MSM gets all googly-eyed about sexual lives that were never meant to be headline news and recklessly analyzed/picked apart by experts who should know better.

Oh I tried to find the Dr.D episode online for you, no luck.

I just watched Dr. Drew a little bit ago and I don't think she meant any disrespect towards Travis. She was describing how so many of Travis' friends said they'd never believe he was doing anything like that. One said he told him that he was struggling with moral issues with Jodi. Casey was basically saying that it does seem like TA didn't really like that side of himself and may have been conflicted.

She then turns to Jodi and said she'd never expect to hear that jodi told a friend she was feeling guilty about her behavior with him.

She simply put it that "Jodi liked her dark side and Travis hated his."

I don't remember exactly what all she said but I didn't get the impression she was trying to label or put him down for anything. I thought it made sense what she said.

Just adding that this was MOO based on what I remember her saying and how it came across to me. :)

I think that by this time he was a bit worried about her reactions. But since she was out in California he was not as concerned so he would probably have no problem talking on the phone like this, in an attempt at keeping her at arms length.

I think he was worried about how she would react if he dumped her totally. So mathis was how he thought he could keep her calm.

This is how I felt about my abuser...still feel actually ...if i can placate him he wont hurt me....

Humor them, and you might wake up the next day....so sorry Travis had to go thru this.

So sorry so many go thrum this. JA IS A TRUE ABUSER.

 I went on a long search for Esther, and let me tell you, it was a nightmare. I am beaten down and worn out from being in Jodi World for days and days. I've learned way too much, and will avoid ever discussing salad with anyone again.

Estrella Jail is where Jodi is housed. They say there is some truth in each one of her lies.

Jodi implies on the phone tape that she's thinking about traveling around with Travis, and he got kind of quiet, and it seemed obvious Jodi was feeling him out to see if he'd invite her on specific upcoming trips.

At least to me, it seemed Travis was pacifying Jodi over the phone and building her up warmly. He said she was first on the list, but not for Cancun.

I wish he sensed the danger, but she was constant drama and that is how they keep you totally off balance while they manipulate and abuse. Jodi abused a good man's naivety and trust, then she killed him.

It was not Skye.

I'm not sure I fully understand the issue surrounding Gus or why it matters who was in the car with him. What happened on that car ride that makes who's with him important? I read something about him having said that SOMEBODY was in the car when he received a phone call and now people are saying maybe there really wasn't anyone and now he doesn't want to admit to perjury? I'm confused! Can someone please give me a few details to refresh my memory or clarify what I'm misunderstanding?

Who's they? Or do you mean in general that most people say that pathological liars spin their lies around some truths?

Yet, later that same day, Travis writes that "you invaded my privacy" in a text/email to her. What's that about?

It's true he sounded more warm towards her than I expected on the phone sex tape, but he was still into having her as a sex buddy, I guess. She stroked his ego constantly, and soothed him so manipulatively that he did not see the red flags or hear the warning bells. All he thought he heard were those hot sounds of Jodi faking it.

Well I'm thinking when they broke up she offered herself to him as a sex playmate (just to keep him involved), as long as he made sure she enjoyed the sex too, and he obliged gladly. As time went on he felt more uncomfortable with the arrangement as his religious beliefs and his desire to marry were in conflict with his relationship with Jodi. Plus as fun, encouraging and game for anything as she was, he knew something was just too hinky with
her. He finally got the juevos to call it all to a complete stop and forever.
That did not fit into her plan. He took all control away from her. She went there to get it back.
Possible.......imo

This is possibly a real person mentioned once or twice during the trial. Esther was the first one to turn Travis on to a certain lubricate.

Oh, listen to me, now I'm becoming an expert on lubricates!

I finally got the chance to listen to the tape. Wow. Shock. A man who likes uninhibited sex! I can't imagine the men on the jury feel there was anything out of the ordinary there. Travis was blinded by the sex. He had discovered his kryptonite. Raise your hand if you've had one of those relationships that was only about the sex... (ziggy raises hand). I believe Travis knew this was pretty much just a sexual relationship - sure he had affection for her, but not the kind she needed or wanted.

So sad to hear him singing the Star Spangled Banner and being funny and changing the words. Sorry he never got to discover Vermont.

His obsession with "Jodi sex" did him in. Not saying it was his fault, but he could not seem to say no to that. It was like having a private 🤬🤬🤬🤬 star.

Big woop on that audio recording. I was getting as tired as Travis listening to it.

I agree. I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of the stuff she's talking about happened, but she's skewing and exaggerating it to make him look bad. Oh and to throw in her "abuse" checkpoints for battered woman syndrome. She described him choking her like she was talking about what she had for lunch. No emotion!

My favorite two quotes of the day:

I hope I'm getting these right... First one was made by a woman on Nancy Grace.

"This is Fifty Shades of Carp!"

Second was made by a man on Dr. Drew.

"If I was the prosecutor, I'd be going home and having a party!"

Lol I was nervous about this sex tape coming it, but the major consensus seems to be that it hurt the defense more than it helped!

Exactly. I think this tape today really showed the jury that she is a liar. The part about when her attorney asked her right after the tape about why did she tape the phone call and Jodi says that Travis asked her to tape it.

OMG....Everyone in that courtroom with any common sense will immediately raise their hinky meter and say BS!!!!!

That was it. Her credibility is now lost. Game over.

All the other days of her in court were bits of pieces of small things that made the jury wonder....Can she really be honest about this? And then when that happened today, that was it. All doubt about her possibly lying is now removed.

Sulamith, I just saw the re-airing of Dr. Drew, and the 'dark side' comment in context.

Jordan was referring to the baudy sex-play in the phone recording as JA's and Travis' 'dark side's respectively, and that Jodi apparently enjoyed hers, but Travis was conflicted about his.

So now I feel bad. I still think her dramatic choice of words was distorting and not helpful but confusing because like I voiced before, there's nothing sinister - or dark on that audio...

So maybe I don't feel bad.

Oops - she's not done talking yet - I may update with another point of view yet again! :) Yikes - I have no business saying anything right now - my brain is not cooperating tonight.

You're exactly right - I just watched it too.

I messed up. :(

I totally agree. Earlier, when she was doing her little victim act, about the horrors of waking up and finding him having 'unwanted' intercourse with her, some were afraid that the jury would sympathize with her. But after hearing her on that tape---PPffftttttt. Puh-lease.

Something I find interesting is that we heard about all their obviously consensual sexual forays...but not the kicked ribs, slapped face, broken finger, choking, demeaning sex, rape, owing her money, forcing her to dress like a schoolgirl, him masturbating to pictures of young boys, keeping her a secret, and disparaging her.

I fully believe, as many control freak stalkerish abusers do, Jodi was stock-piling anything and everything she could garner to use as a weapon against him. Because of this I think it even more unlikely the abuse ever actually happened.

If the whole point of the tape was to use it as a weapon why not weave in every single dastardly deed he'd ever done?

Yes, another great example. I've been watching her closely and trying to think how I would react if I were on the jury and not knowing anything about her. Its little things like that example you just mentioned where I would think to myself.....Did she really not wake up in the chair until he was already making advances to her? Did that really happen?

Watching her closely, I've seen small clues that I think the Jury is seeing that she is lying. One thing I notice is she always looks down when it gets to some of the lying.

I think the Jury has got her number. I just hope all 12 of them do.

That was epic! She was thrilled she was awakened with him initiating the sex!
Caught in lies lies lies! Anything questionable that she says is probably a lie too. We know for sure they traveled, they had sex sometimes, and there was a very brutal homicide! Pretty sure next month it will be called a brutal murder.
