My very first post - I apologize if this was posted somewhere already, Ill get the hang of navigating the site eventally...

I am curious as to whether there is anything (other than JA's word lol) that shows this phone call was actually on May 10th. It doesn't fit, after all her scary behavior, for him to have been so nice on the phone..

There was mention of an upcoming trip to Washington - does anyone know when that was?

I agree with many of the previous posters as to her motivation for recording the call being having it to show it to other women if she wanted. A way to ruin any relationship he might have in the future with a Mormon girl that, as she said, "wouldnt get freaky" (which I also felt was her pathetic attempt to point out to him that his perfect mate was her since she was both Mormon and freaky)

Unfortunately, this is a very accurate portrayal of the events I have observed this week of February 11-13, 2013, while I was at work in my office, which has 2 windows, one facing south and one facing east, while I drank coffee with Cinnabon flavored creamer, during which week I answered 22 phone calls - 10 of which I had to take messages from, the other 12, I was able to assist right away. One day, I think it was Monday, we got 8.75 inches of rain. We had lots of flooding in our area...you probably saw about it on the news...at least the Weather Channel, if you get that. Most cable providers have that in their line up. Anyway.... I'm sorry...could you repeat the question?? :waitasec:

Good morning, all! I totally agree that the sex tape was much better for the prosecution than the defense. A thought I had: when JA was blabbering about how the tape came to be, she included in her story getting that phone from Gus. My guess is that she asked Gus to find her a phone that could record long conversations; thus, she was planning on recording Travis and using it against him. That could possibly be part of the information Gus said he had that could help or hurt JA.
Also, she never recording a conversation before, not because she kept messing up (as she says), but because she didn't have the right phone.

YES! I was also convinced that the supposed trip to see her in Yreka was a fabrication of JA's. He sounded so jolly and mellow. That surprised me too. I know a lot of websleuthers think he was desperately trying to shake her, but this conversation does not really support that. Not that soon after he might have wanted to be done, but at this date, less than a month till his murder, he was still willing to travel to see her.

Also, he was sooooo patient with all her babbling post phone sex. An abusive person would have shut that off quick. Just sayin'.

I agree with most of this. I was expecting him to *click* hang up quickly, but he didn't. However, abusers can be variable. I do believe he was emotionally abusive to her in general (would love to see texts/emails), but they had some good times. I also think she's a classic dependent personality.

What the recording indicated to me was:
1) he didn't view her as a stalker, he was truly engaged in an ongoing relationship with her of some sort, albeit "under the radar" (I think being under the radar is abusive in this case, also, and yes, I know she had a choice);
2) they enjoyed each other, at least sometimes. He was open and talkative and even playful. He confided in her. He was, at least in the past, somewhat possessive (Abe "hitting on my girlfriend').
3) TA was definitely into sex. He wasn't raped. He voluntarily and actively had a sexual relationship with JA. He was not a victim in that regard.
4) JA recorded this call intentionally with a purpose. She captured certain things, i.e., sexually incriminating stuff with an agenda in mind.

I absolutely agree with you, Lacey. There was no mention of most of what her testimony, and further her defense, is wrapped around. Yet, if your primary motivation is to destroy someone wouldn't you intentionally weave every single thing they've ever done wrong in?

I know I certainly would want record of the most damning evidence I could compile against him.

On the 48 hours thing she talked about being a photographer "My camera goes everywhere I go" YET... there is not ONE picture of any bruises, hurt finger, spidey underwear... and the picture of the Tshirt and grannie panties was taken right before she was arrested!! IF abuse existed there would be some sort of record...there is *nothing*
She loved pictures she took thousands and NOT one shows any kind of bruise or abuse. There is NOT one sign of pedophilia from Travis. Nothing in his house... nothing on his computer... nothing mentioned in the tape.
