I think she, the lawyers, Jodi's mother & aunt -- all these people are behaving badly in front of the jury. As if the trial is so ludicrous that nobody could take it seriously. But for the jurors, it IS serious. You have to wonder what Nurmi thinks he's accomplishing.

A recent post proffered an alternative theory of why JA killed TA. In short this theory suggests JA stood in danger of being exposed as a “gold digging” fraud which would potentially damage her prospects of latching on to another young wealthy Mormon male.

The problem with this theory is that TA and many of his friends had already soured on this femme fatale. The females in this story including wives immediately saw through JA pretenses and viewed her as a banal superficial twit who used sexual wiles to ensnare the gullible males.
Although none of TA circle of friends completely understood the depth of JA psychopathology they all knew she was persona non grata.

What was going for JA by spring 2008 was her availability as “booty call” and her ability to potentially seduce any prospective male targets. Most male Mormons would have tired of her once her vapidity became clear. Many male Mormons showed early interest in her since she was “cute” and coquettish. I suspect that TA dated JA consistently for some 5 months since the sex play was novel and attractive.

It is abundantly clear from the audio tapes that TA was just no longer “into JA”
By April 2008 JA had become exactly what JA asserts – she was nothing more than a quick convenient “f__________”.

Therefore the conventional wisdom is still the best explanation. She came to the realization that she was being discarded by her “meal ticket” ie TA and her open road to a future of luxury and “fun” was being foreclosed. All her “dreams” and all her sexual favors had come to naught. She thus became obsessively enraged.

The audio tapes dated May 2008 clearly show her as an immature groveling sycophant. TA showed her strained amusement. It was difficult for TA from falling asleep during this conversation since he found her really boring and superficial.

The audio tape appears like a set up. JA may well have been homicidal when she recorded this conversation with TA. After TA’s death she could play this tape as well as her companion voice mail to him placed the evening of June 5 to the police in order to show – 1) things were good between her and TA in May 2008 and 2) alibi and 3) the voice mail dovetailed nicely with the audio tape – both referenced TA travel plans to visit JA in early July 2008. As a result, JA had “evidence” that there was NO MOTIVE to kill TA.

And of course this is a sham. The defense simply wanted to keep the Hughes in the dark so that they couldn't be in court or help the prosecution.
