I just keep in mind, we can be on the side of good or evil.

I don't think because someone is blood, you are required to support them, love them and back them up. If a family member of mine did that I would not support what they did. I would want to know the truth, and then they must face the consequences of their actions.

All i know for sure is... I don't ever have to condone a loved ones actions to love them. nothing could ever make me stop loving my son and standing by him. It doesn't mean I'm supporting the act. KWIM?

I like how she lets slip that she was over at Travis' nearly every day even though they were not bf and gf .. she found some random excuse to drive over there straight after her shift, or late at night to look in the windows, or at 4am without announcing herself or whenever she felt like it. And we are only on day 1 of cross .. without her realising it she's slipping all sorts of details that weren't already in. Genius.

She also testified it was "just one of those places… in a strip mall". She is saying she drove all the way to Salinas and waited in a massive line to a completely random place. <insert eye-roll here>

I never saw JA as anyway "flustered" during the first day of cross.
She was confident if not over confident. She spared with JM continuously - many times merely over minor semantics. She smirked and gloated and when she blurted out "my memory lapses when men like you and TA scream at me" she actually bent forward and laughed to herself - "dupers delight".
She delights in dancing around the questions and occasionally will blurt out her self serving explanations.
Even when caught in inconsistency as she was in the timeline of Jan 21 2008 she NEVER lost her composure and indeed declared that her account of the phone calls remains very much in tact.
There were several occasions that JM was so twisted up with double double negative questions he found it hard to repeat the question when asked to so by the judge.

JA has absolutely NO FEAR of JM.
JA is a master liar and can do it on the fly. She also is very practiced in lying about a lie and then lying about the lie told about the lie. It is remarkable to witness this kind of performance.

i agree she was having good old time on that stand but also during some of those questions she was making faces and also looking for a comeback. moo no doubt she is a smooth liar. however i believe she has met her match. she keeps talking and keeps letting things slip out just because she wants to control the cross. all the while jm is dropping bombshells. yes he may get a little tangled in her banter. but he will continue to rain major bombshells on her. i am not schooled in psychiatry but i do believe she is behaving the way he anticipated. jmo

Hi everyone! I am newly registered but have been lurking in regards to this case. This case is what has brought me to WebSleuths. Years ago, I saw the 48 Hours on Jodi Arias. I immediately felt for Travis Alexander and his family. As I've been watching this case (I watch all of it on Youtube), I feel more and more empathy for Travis Alexander and his family. It has been absolutely disgusting to see Jodi Arias drag his name through the mud on what are obviously false charges. I absolutely love Juan Martinez and have been on the edge of my seat watching him question Jodi Arias. I LOVED how he basically tore apart her pedophilia allegations and can't wait to see where he's going with his questioning. I think it's safe to say I have a bit of a crush on him, though would never stalk and peep in his windows or throw a Toblerone at him. I have just been so proud of the way he has has represented Travis!

I agree, if she were able to be a great actress and play this role all the way through we would not have seen the behavior we saw on the stand Thursday.

Fortunately, her flaw is her personality/mental issue...and despite her Attorney's wanting her to play the victim (and I don't blame them, they feel their job is to save her from death, not get at the truth) Her lovely self just comes pouring right out like lava...

I GUARANTEE you they are having a "talk" with her over this 3 days NOT to spar with Mr. Martinez...and bring on some waterworks. However she can't. She can't be anything but herself... Jodi "Don't YOU DARE SAY NO TO ME" Arias....

Honestly, I think they're tired of her and resigned to doing their job. There is no love between them and its obvious. I can't see them coaching her anymore than they have. IMO

Absolutely, we love our family, and if we have lived decades with them and some bizarre snap occurs, we don't stop loving them, but we can despise the deed. And we can implore them to tell the truth especially if they have caused irreparable damage and trauma to another family.

Jodi could have known the code for TA's garage door.

If he ever wrote the code in an email for a new tenant-roommate, snooping Jodi may have stumbled across it.

Or if he simply punched the code in a time of two with her standing beside him, she'd know it.

Based on the "vision board" she created in her journal, Jodi once considered TA's house her home-to-be. I guess she was also at one point his maid, showing off her housewife skills... and very likely snooping through his personal papers... where she may have learned the code.

I have too, and they have a very tough job with this case, and this Defendant. I don't like how they are going about it, but I have a feeling they are not "telling" her to lie, they are not advising her to do illegal things.

For the most part the Defense Attorney puts himself and herself in a very vulnerable spot if they do. They are dealing with a mentally unstable woman, if she chopped up her ex boyfriend, she will surely throw her Attorney's under the bus at the first chance.

They might be guiding her through in ways that are not illegal, but I doubt if they planted story lines for her, I think that is 100% her.

Then again if they did try to help her think things up, all they have to say if she rats them out is "are you kidding? YOU believe that crap she is telling you?"

I do wonder if they pull their hair out after court when they are in the privacy of their offices.. like "holy mother of jesus, what else is she going to say that we don't know about yet?"

I recall early in the case when Jodi was at the defense table doing her crying hair curtain thing. Her female lawyer instinctually reached over to pat her back and .... I swear... Actually recoiled! She pulled her hand back as soon as it touched Jodi.

I wish I knew exactly where it was it would make a fantastic GIF

No kidding. But what's challenging about it is the seemingly normal-ness of her if you don't actually listen to what she's saying. I mean, she doesn't look like a crazy person, she can speak intelligently and coherently -- as long as you don't compare her inconsistencies or think too deeply about the implausibility of what she's saying. If someone has never come across a psychopath or has no knowledge that these people can seem completely normal on the surface - I can see where it would be hard to understand the depth of her manipulations and deceptions and outrageous behavior.

I disagree. The defense attorneys generally look very calm like "she's doing what we told her." I feel they coached her to extract yes or no questions from him and feign memory fog when he tries to pin her down (i.e. when she can't tell where he's heading or she doesn't want to go there b/c she hasn't created a story and rehearsed it for that topic).

But I don't think they told her to be belligerent. They probably told her to be respectful, but she just can't. IMO of course.

I think JA could stay in some meek character for a short bit but that will make JM whip out the even bigger guns to throw her off and piss her off.. A link that was previously posted about how to cross examine a sociopath was very interesting and made sense. I think JA could play the part til she feels completely challenged (which won't take more than a few questions from JM) and at that point she will go back to her baseline psychopathic self. I think she truly believes she is the smartest person in that courthouse. I bet she thinks her lawyers are crazy when they try to coach her on how to respond to JM; her constant smirk on the stand Thursday showed just how great she thought she was doing.
