One of the body language ladies said she was telling the truth when she was on the stand and said Travis told her: A five year old can handle a camera better than you can.
That would be a real put down.

Whatever, body language experts typically study normal human reactions. Jodi's barely human.

Andrea isn't going to kill you because you decided you don't want to be involved with her anymore. She is only a danger if you are her child and she is unmedicated and responding to her delusions and auditory hallucinations. SO no, the average person does not have a threat from her. Jodi can kill you anytime for doing something she does not like and feel not a shred of remorse.

The legal definition of insanity (in a nutshell) is not knowing right from wrong at the time a crime was committed. Andrea Yates was not properly cared for mentally and was really unable to care for herself mentally. She could not get proper treatment on her own volition. SHe slipped through the mental health system cracks many times and her own husband was completely clueless to the signs of how sick she really was. She felt, due to a brain chemical imbalance, that her children were being taken over by Satan and she had auditory hallucinations telling her that she was a horrible mother and if she continued to raise them they would burn in hell.

Jodi has been evaluated psychologically and psychiatrically and found to be sane. She knew right from wrong on the day she killed Travis. Oh sure her ideas of right and wrong are backwards, but she shows signs of knowing what she did was legally wrong when she voiced concerns about herself and how her life was over. She has no brain chemical imbalance telling her that she had to kill Travis for xyz reasons. She knew clearly what she was doing that day.

Andrea Yates was found to been suffering horribly on that horrible day she killed her children, Post Partum Psychosis being one of many diagnoses. She was sentenced to live for the rest of her life in a state hospital. She gets her meds and therapy and is able to have a somewhat stable life. However she will never see life outside a hospital. This is where she should be. She is not capable of taking care of herself at all.

There are no meds to treat Jodi. Jodi is not mentally ill in the chemically imbalanced sense. She has mental issues sure, but not treatable by meds. Now she very obviously (IMO, since I am not a professional treating her or a licensed professional at all) has Axis II (Cluster B's) personality disorder(s) of some sort

http://behavenet.com/personality-disorder

A therapist can work with someone who solely has these but they are very very difficult to work with...because again it is something wrong in her personality, not her brain chemicals. The personality is the particular combination of emotional, attitudinal, and behavioral response patterns of an individual.

Jodi has no qualms about hurting anyone that wrongs her. She is far more of a danger than someone like Andrea Yates ever could be, because she knows exactly what she is doing, enjoys doing it, and would more than likely do it again if she could.
SO yeah, you can be sane and commit horrible crimes.

If we are to believe the gun was actually put on that shelf, no, I do not believe she could reach it without standing on something. Actually it is most likely just another of her fabrications to explain where the gun came from. I don't believe it was ever in the closet.

MOO

No gun in the closet. Jodi stole the gun from her Grandparents 7 days before she killed Travis.

My problem has always been that if you chase your children through the house and catch them and then drown them, what difference does it make if you are crazy by the legal term of the law. You killed your children and that is it. And you deserve to die. That case was sickening and living in Texas we heard every gory detail. No excuse and no reason to give her any kind of forgiveness. I hated that she even went to prison and now she is out. OMG. JMO

That was my feeling when I first heard about it. Some of my close friends in Texas, including some who know that family, have said that in her head she really just didn't understand what she was doing -- was so mentally ill that she couldn't even perceive it. I can't relate to that at all, but I can accept that there's a degree of mental illness that makes that possible. That said, I would have no problem with a death penalty imposed upon her regardless.

I noticed this as well, and I wondered if she is going to get schooled about it this weekend by Nurmi & co. She is presenting herself as someone who rises to the occasion with no hesitation when challenged or confronted. She is going to have to come across as pitiful, cowed, intimidated by JM to be a credible abuse victim. If she cannot resist sparring with him, her PRIDE is what will do her in.

I believe you are right. JA is the poster girl for pride arrogance and an immense ego. JA thinks and has thought all along that she is the smartest human being alive. She has had no opposition to her grandiose and deluded thinking. She is very much at home in the controlled prison population where she has been anointed Queen Sheba. In prison JA has developed an admiring retinue of female losers.

She adores the media attention and LOVES being on the national stage.
Her trial is like 100 Inside Edition TV interviews put together.
I am sure that each morning she awaits anxiously to get into her chair where and when she can mug to the camera and show off her superior intelligence and where she can demonstrate her command of obscure English vocabulary and grandiose circumlocutions.

She has never shown remorse for what she did to her victim. Her main problem is she got caught and her "precious life is over". But now she is in a much better place - JAIL - no male suitors who reject her; no rent to pay'; never having to worry about getting fired from a job anymore.
Indeed she is now making more money than ever through her new found fame and her art sales on Ebay. She studies law and psychology books at the prison library so she can bolster her lies and fabrications.
She takes her place in the community of prison singers She has local prestige and fame in the jail community which honorifics will persist for her natural life.

JA LOVES HER LIFE NOW. In certain respects JA has already died and gone to Mormon heaven. She has new found fortune, respect paid by non jailed boyfriend/s, adoration from the gay female prison guards, and immense media ATTENTION.

JA will gladly consume over $1-2million from Arizona tax payers as they pay for Nurmi et al, her trial time, her hearings, her motions, and years and years and years of appeals. And Arizona taxpayers will be paying for JA jail room & board to the tune of about $125,000 per year. Since the jury will not send her to death row JA has expectations of living to age 85 while in jail. That should add to the total cost of trying and keeping JA where the final bill to tax payers should be around $8 million.

WOW. When JA "came to" around Las Vegas on June 4 2008 she had NO IDEA what a treasure trove she would inherit!!!!

Do we need a separate thread to document her peeping episodes?

1. The Hughes house--listening at the door.

2. Peeping in the back door at Travis and "that Phoenix woman".

3. Peeping on Travis and Mimi on their date.

4. Peeping on Travis as she came in to the house the night she murdered him.

5. Peeping at the door with Bianca and "gay Steve" at Crater Lake.

What else?

I'd at least like to know Dr. Ablow's thoughts/ opinions especially given what's come out in trial and the 48 Hours interview never mind her performance during the interrogation by Det. Flores before and after her arrest.

I just need to say, she scares the heck out of me! She let some creepy facial expressions slip on Thursday. One time that I can think of was when he was asking her about looking in the sliding doors and she said something like "I said no." right after that she glared at him before correcting herself. Then later, I can't remember exactly when it was, I need to watch again but JM asked her if she was jealous and for a split second the look on her face was just pure rage. That one really stood out to me, but there were so many others. I can't wait to see how things go on Monday...even though she gives me the creeps!

Correct, however, I don't believe she stashed the gun in his closet either. It was probably in her "murder bag".

I didn't follow the Yates case intently, but if it's correct that she was completely mentally ill -- like massively mentally ill, then I don't think she's responsible for her actions to the same extent that Jodi would be. Nonetheless, to me the crime is FAR more horrific.

Because there were more victims? They were children?

Oh, I thought everyone had seen it! I was so angry with the smarmy direct that I did something to make myself feel better! (Turn up your volume and do full screen to read!)

OMG this is hands down the funniest Juantage of a piece of performance art I've ever seen related to this trial!

From the "grabber" that turns on the shredder to the teddy bear with the American Flag to the Juananator (is that it?) to the sound track.

That is just HILARIOUS!!! I'm toasting my glass of Zinfandel to you right now.

CHEERS! and :floorlaugh::floorlaugh::floorlaugh:

Been there. Done that. Once you've lived with one (a sociopath, psychopath) you see it immediately. She "played" him many times just that one day! She wanted to swap the cars before he went to the meeting to see him/be with him/sway him not to go. He (normal person) took her at face value and thought she needed the car for something else so, he had a friend pick him up so she could get the car. She (sociopath that she is) was offended and angry about this (because he didn't UNDERSTAND that she wanted to see him) so she didn't pick up the car. HE is the one that was put out and didn't use his own car to go where he needed to go BUT, she is the one who is pizzed and does she say thank you or sorry? No she says the store closed and she's sleepy.

Been there. They (the people that fake that they are really people) do this chit over and over and over again until YOU think YOU'RE the crazy one!

Juan knows what she is.

I'm not sure about the jury because we can't talk to them or understand how they are interpreting events...

I have no doubts about what exactly JA is. I've seen it. And I do mean "it". They're out there!

moo

This perfectly, and I do mean PERFECTLY describes exactly what/how the socio/psycho brain works... IMO there could not have been a more accurate analysis of the text exchange regarding the car switch..which perfectly gives an example of exactly how these type "people" work.. jmo and just from personal experience with this type..

Hi everyone! I am newly registered but have been lurking in regards to this case. This case is what has brought me to WebSleuths. Years ago, I saw the 48 Hours on Jodi Arias. I immediately felt for Travis Alexander and his family. As I've been watching this case (I watch all of it on Youtube), I feel more and more empathy for Travis Alexander and his family. It has been absolutely disgusting to see Jodi Arias drag his name through the mud on what are obviously false charges. I absolutely love Juan Martinez and have been on the edge of my seat watching him question Jodi Arias. I LOVED how he basically tore apart her pedophilia allegations and can't wait to see where he's going with his questioning. I think it's safe to say I have a bit of a crush on him, though would never stalk and peep in his windows or throw a Toblerone at him. I have just been so proud of the way he has has represented Travis!

Welcome!!! (your post made me lol, especially the stalking, peeping & Toblerone!)

I wonder if Mr. Martinez is going to bring in the shelves to prove she couldn't reach? It would be another really good impeachment of her testimony. When juries visually see an impeachment it really impacts their view of the defendants testimony as unreliable.

Jumping in on some comments made earlier (yesterday) on JM still being "only" an ADA. The DA is an elected official position. There is only 1 in each jurisdiction. The DA rarely gets to try cases him/herself--most of their time is spent on administrative and political type matters.

So, if you are an attorney and you want to help put the bad guys/gals away, the district attorney's office is the only place you can do that. If you want to be in the courtroom trying cases to put those bad guys/gals away then being the elected official running the office (which is what the DA is and what the DA does) is not the right position for that.

An ADA doesn't "work" themselves up to the DA position; there is no promotion to that position since it's an elected position. A person has to campaign for the DA position just like any other elected position be it a judge, or a senator, etc. It's a political position.

Within any DA office there are grades/levels. JM is likely at a very high (perhaps one of the highest) grade levels in that office. To be the prosecutor of a DP case, and be able to try cases without any other ADAs involved, means to be among the best and brightest in a DA's office. People who choose that career obviously aren't doing it because they're going to be making $$$$$$$ a year like corporate attorneys can or like the criminal defense attorneys can--they do it because that's the type of law they want to practice and they don't want to be on the defense side. Those are your only 2 choices if you want to be in criminal law. It's a passion and a calling.
