Did you at least see a difference in JA's demeanor? Wasn't that worth something? :seeya:

I agree JA demeanor was not doing her any favors and I am surprised Nurmi did not forewarn her to respond respectfully, that being said this case is a slam dunk to win. I do think Juan is smart but a little too obnoxious and immature at times. This is a trial, not Big Brother and trying to get in the best zingers. He reminds me of the Zingbot 3000.

What was her REAL purpose of going to Matt's house? tia

GREAT QUESTION. Too bad I can't pull something looooooooong and drawn out like Arias to answer you, but I just don't know.
What can we sleuth to find out?

Exactly. Right out of the gate with a bogus "double standard" argument. EVERYONE knows it's perfectly fine to insult your own family members lol, but no one else had better do it! My kids call each other names daily. But their friends had better not. And their mom?! No way. I couldn't believe Martinez even argued that AT ALL, much less strenuously. :::sigh:::

Maybe there was some strategy involved. This ain't his first rodeo. And he is crossing a sociopath-so he cannot be so linear and obvious as he could with a normal witness.

My Dad was a really good trial attorney. And one of his little tricks was something much like JM did, which was opening with something 'weak.' He liked to open his cross by going somewhere unexpected and not that important, and get the witness really involved in that argument, and then suddenly shift to the real issue, so they do not see it coming and are not prepared in that moment. Plus it gives you a chance to see exactly how they are arguing their points, and you do so with the issue that is unimportant. I think it is a good strategy. It may not play as well to an audience, who wants it short, sweet, simple and hard hitting.

But you cannot go at a sociopath in that linear way because they are smarter than your average bear. I think JM did a whole lot of damage to the defense last week, in just one short day.

He couldn't broach the REAL core issues because he didn't want them to have the weekend to prepare, imo.

Nope. I agree. A single man IMO that owns a
gun would keep it in a bedside table or under the pillow next to him.
How many men lived in the home?
Travis didn't fear anything! He left his freaking doors unlocked!
(well other than Jodi)
Come on! IMO she had threatened him at some point.
HE EVEN TOLD HIS FRIENDS!!!
IF. I. fail. to. show. up. at. church. one. Sunday....

He was semi joking.

ETA: where was the rest of the ammo?
HOW did Jodi even know for sure it was loaded?
UNLESS SHE HAD CHECKED upon UPON AWAKENING

B O O M !!!!! ~still premeditated even if it wasn't grandpas gun.
Does anyone believe he knew she was headed to Mesa?
Any phone records to back up her Bs ?

I agree it's not a likely place to keep a gun.
Jodi's gun story is really not believable on many levels.

The gun reminds me of those handy weapons in a computer game where if you know when to jump up this gun appears in your hands loaded and you destroy the enemy.

Jodi brought grandpa's gun, IMO.

Yeah. Something is definitely up with money. I hope we'll learn what was going on there. Has anyone here taken a deep sleuth into JA's finances? I've read here that she had access to Travis' banking info, but I don't know the facts (or even the source) of that statement.

....exactly. Who's been financing her excursions? :waitasec:

I have been watching this entire trial (and re-runs) and I don't understand this. Could someone please explain to me how this math works out?

thank you, Kamille! :)

the ceiling ppicture is time stamped 5:31:14 - the dragging photo is t.s'd 5:32:16 ... that's a minute, 2 seconds. :(

Is the ceiling picture when the camera had dropped? When JA claims TA got furious with her and came after her? If so, this is where I'm so confused:

-JA claims she dropped the camera
-TA jumps out of the shower towards JA
-JA tries to retrieve the camera
-TA bodyslams her to the floor
-JA rolls over to her left and starts running through the hallway towards the bedroom
-JA exits stage right into the closet with TA hot on her trail
-JA does a Michael Jordon and reaches for a gun stored on the top shelf of the closet
-JA runs back into the bathroom
-TA then attempts to lineback tackle JA at the waist
-JA claims the gun went off while not realizing her finger is on the trigger and then.....Wait...

Umm, how did all this body slamming, running, entering a closet, getting a gun, and tackling fit into the dropped camera/dragging body - 1 minute 2 seconds timespan? I'm not debating the picture timestamps, I'm trying to figure out how JA can claim all this took place.

Seriously!!! Most DV situations, from what I've heard, don't start out like that! It seems like most start out super charming, etc. to get the other person hooked and then the abuse gradually increases. She claims their first few sexual encounters made her feel horrible and were unwanted. Umm... there was NOTHING keeping her from continuing a relationship with him at that point. No love, no money, etc. She had no problem breaking up with all of her previous boyfriends. She has to make it perfectly clear that SHE BROKE UP WITH THEM every chance she gets.

I think she had to claim it started so early because their relationship was really short!!

Has anyone made a list of the dates she claimed the abuse incidents happened? I'd be curious if these were dates when something else happened to help her keep her stories straight.

MOO :seeya:
Exactly. Mr. Martinez needs to question the domestic abuse expert on this.

I keep thinking Jeff Ashton is really going to miss the "hands on" argument portion he and Juan are so good at. I think it's just in some peeps blood. I certainly wish them both well and Godspeed.

Jeff Ashon won the election in Orlando over Lasson Lamar hands. He beat a good ole boy here MOO

Just for the record, my opinion of Martinez was formed exclusively from his performance in this case and what I've read about him from links posted here and related reading. I have never heard of him before and had no personal opinion about his work until I saw him for the first time when I sat through the first day I attended of this trial. As I said, I don't care what anyone else thinks of him or what anyone else thinks of my opinion of him, so I'm not going to respond to details of your post.

Somewhere back about 50 or so pages, is a link to "How to cross examine a sociopath" or Google it. Read it and maybe you will understand how Juan has to handle Jodi.

Good question.

It's like she went on a tour of past/present/future boyfriends and stopped for a murder of one of them turning him in to the Ghost of Boyfriends Past along the way.

Sick.

Fundamentalist Christians talk ALOT about women remaining "pure" until marriage and "courting with a purpose (only dating people you intend to marry)." It's really popular right now. I wonder if Mormons are using this same language? IDK, that's the only place I hear anybody talking about "courting" and "courting with a purpose" is used a bunch.

Well, if that's the case then these two were beyond 'courting'.... my god they were 'copulating'!

(I couldn't remember the word, for the life of me... coupling... cuniningless (sp?)... hahaha)

I guess according to Jodi's story, the only time Travis actually courted her was at the first meeting in Vegas.

GO JUAN!!!

It's exactly what I was thinking today. I finally listened to the actual testimony of the guy who pulled all the photos off the memory card. JM went through all the timestamps more than once.

I would think that this has to be one of the many inconsistencies he hones in on. "So - you dropped the camera around this time...and well, hmmm... barely over a min later you're dragging his blood dripping body. Is that right?"

Her latest story was obvious BS, but the photos and their timestamps are "tangible" proof that it didn't go down like she said.

Could someone please point me to the shower picture "photo-shoot" sequence with time stamps? I have searched and can't find. I know they're out there! Many TIA!

:welcome: :seeya:

Great first post!!! Keep in mind that all of that PLUS the 29 stab wounds and slitting of the throat would have to happen within that timeframe for her story to make sense! The very last pic is of her dragging his body back into the bathroom on a sheet or blanket. :what: That's some speedy moving there!
