I kept waiting for JM to ask why Jodi thought the Mormon church would disapprove of his "joking" texts with a woman because she was married, but apparently didn't feel they would have any problem with all the sex she was having with Travis. WTF? She didn't even wonder enough to check how that behavior is viewed?! Don't just about all religions (Christian, Jewish, Muslim, etc.) frown on premarital sex?

Arias has been inside long enough and attended enough hearings.. and she knows the deal...

she is playing GAMES.

I agree! I want to see Arias' medical records before I believe she suffers migraine headaches! MOO

Maybe she needs to consider starting the Arias trial at 9 am and ending early, then handle the other cases. Capital trial I served as juror on, the jurors had to be in the jury room no later than 8:45 am. Court started @ 9:00 am sharp. Court adjourned at 5:00 pm. Five days a week. You would think that court time including the judge would be reserved for a trial with this importance. Other states do this and it works very well. Surely there are other judges who could be brought in to handle the other case loads. This is usually done in Capital Murder trials that are expected to run longer than usual. The constant start and stop of this trial is a drain on the jurors and very frustrating. The numerous days between the stop of testimony and the start of testimony makes the jurors forget the testimony already given. Very expensive trial the way it is being done.

BBM

The judge in Elizabeth Johnson's trial explained that the mornings are used much of the time for handling sentencing on other cases they've worked on, for hearing pleas and the like - the stuff that should only take a few minutes time to handle for each person.

It's better than abruptly stopping the trial to handle those things at the end of the day. Remember, too, in Maricopa County, for the most part, the courts are dark on Fridays....

I think Nurmi just wanted to get her off the stand because JM was on a roll and was headed to make his big point for the afternoon. And the DT saw a way to get her off the stand early. JMO

It is fine though, because it gives Juan the chance to look over the transcript and tighten up his aim for tomorrow.

Exactly!!! If anyone had a headache I'm betting on it being Nurmi. I think he acquired one as Jodi undid all of his work for the last three weeks.

In a DP case it will go on for decades and drag families through the mud right up until the time they are executed , if it ever happens.

(Respectfully snipped)

Does that mean that - strictly speaking from the victim's/victim's family's perspective, wouldn't LWOP be a relief? No appeals (except, as you've said before there is a risk of appeal even with the DP to have the sentence reduced to LWP or even less!)

Please understand - I am NOT arguing anything on this, I'm just curious and value your comments for the obvious reasons - and wish you were never given a reason to know so much.

I guess it's probably different in every case - people are different. I can't imagine having to deal with the appeals process and the murderer of one's family member again and again.

  • #286
And it is not because JM stressed her IMO

She didn't report migraine after the murder
but maybe she forgot that she had one.

  • #287
Mark my words. Once she's convicted and sentenced to death, this afternoon's testimony will be appealed. They will say the testimony she gave basically agreeing with the State that she was consensual in the sexual relationship and not abused or manipulated was based on her having a migraine and not getting enough calories thus rendering her confused.

that's what we have to look forward to in a few years.

but if they had not made a formal complaint yet - wouldn't it be from this point forward if this happens it could be an appeal issue then?

But she WILL appeal no matter what. Someone will help her.

Geez, and you believe this?????

Even if the lack of food were true , it is not cruel. Please, let's leave cruelty to the 29 stab wounds on Travis' body, and the gunshot to his head, and the slitting of his throat almost to the point of decapitation. Let's remember the blood gushing from his throat in that photo where she's dragging him back to the bathroom.

Is everyone taking crazy pills here???????

No......I'm not crazy or taking pills. IF, big if, she has been denied food as Nurmi is suggesting, that she is not getting any lunch and court has to be over by 4:30 so she does not miss dinner than yes that is cruel. I did not say that I think that is the case. She has been on trial now, how many days, and suddenly when she lets a word slip out that basically makes her look bad she used her wild card. I can't imagine them not providing her with something to eat. If she decided not to bring it because she felt her attorneys would get her her lunch than that is her fault and she has disrupted the court because of that fact. I don't think she is not getting fed. I think she is not eating.....big difference. And why has it taken her defense team so long to bring this to the attention of the judge. They had to have known about it. What I'm saying is it WOULD be cruel for them to do this, but I really don't think they did. It's just Jodi thinking if she brings nothing her team will feel sorry for her and buy her a burger and fries, which she will never get again. It's her last chance. But, no. I have not lost my senses. Think about it. She leave early in the morning after breakfast so she would have to bring something from her tray. If they are only feed twice a day it's what she does eveyday. I don't think the courthouse jail serves food. lol

I think you are totally correct in your thinking here katiecoolady. After the lunch break she just seemed consigned to just tell the truth about the willingness and enjoyment of the sex.

Really? You actually think she would tell the whole truth and nothing but the truth?

  • #291
JMO she loves to tease men.

And She follows through.

Maybe they saw at break that the married woman has come forward to dispel what Jodi said and need to rethink things.

Radar online questioned her like 5min after Jodi spewed her name in court.

That wasn't a migraine you guys.
It was Scrambled Brain

I may make a scrambled brain omelette for breakfast tomorrow and wash it down with a strawberry frappe

  • #293
Maybe they can bag up some of that nutraloaf that Joe is famous for feeding inmates. It's healthy. Elizabeth Johnson refused to eat it at one time, iirc.

Honestly, I haven't followed this case very much other in our news locally and twitter. I do remember they can bring food from their breakfast to court or what they have purchased from the jail. 2 meals a day and that's a 2600 calorie diet, I'd think there would be something JA could bring to court to avoid her starvation...

  • #294
Yep - he is keeping her totally off balance. So much so, that she developed a malingering migraine.

I think JM and everybody in the court and myself, at least, are thisclose to having headaches. Her answers are mind boggling.

I have not suffered from Migraines now for quite some time. I stay away from sugar and starchy carbs like they are poison (I am extremely glucose sensitive)
and
Started a consistent cardio and weight training regimen and have never looked back. I used to get at least 3 full blown - over the toilet lying on the cold floor in a dark room migraines a month and havent had one in literally years.

OK...I NEVER go off topic so bad so (ahem) I do have to say regarding ARIAS and her supposed Migraine....
When a person is caught in a lie, blood pressure rises causing in some people pooling of blood in head which causes headaches as well. Then if she has a bit of low blood sugar because of not eating THE FOOD SHE LIKES ahem....
she may have a headache....BUT NOT A MIGRAINE.

AS SOON AS i SAW THIS COURT DISMISSAL, I THOUGHT TO MYSELF....
"I'd have a migraine too if I lied so much and was CAUGHT lying over and over again" because of savagly killing someone I loved!!!!!!!

BBM

Very good point. I haven't seen it yet, but I hope the jurors don't feel sympathy because JM has been close to badgering her.

Thanks, I hope HLN didn't cut out the whole migraine thing with commercials. it sounds like most people here think it was a big act.

Total act. It could not be more obvious. They come back from the afternoon break to a sidebar. Then Nurmi goes to whisper to her. Next thing is a 10 minute recess. Come back to see y'all tomorrow. Then he explains that she is sick, and hasn't had lunch. GMAFB.... she hasn't had lunch or a migraine at all during any of her direct. Then today she does? He clearly told her something was coming that she wasn't prepared for. So she got sick.

Thank goodness you missed all the j@zz talk! :giggle:

It was not Jodi who didn't want to continue. It was her DT. Something BIG is up IMO. Jodi no doubt thinks she's a STAR; the DT knows she's out of control.

Just a hunch.

I agree she's waffling on her answers faster than they can take notes. They have to fix all her mess during re-direct and she's spiraling out of control faster than they can take note of what they have to fix.

  • #297
Out of curiosity, was Jodi given bail, I had always assumed she had no bail but a poster a few pages back, said had she had money she would be out on bail.

Was she given a bail and what amount if so?

TIA

EWWWW.... please do not share! :nono:

The lights hurt your eyes, normal sounds are way too loud, you just want to lay your head down.

I used to suffer from twice a month migraines with aura and I had to stop everything I was doing. Now since I found the cure, I don't have them anymore-last one almost 4 years ago. Thank God!

Not sure if this is absolute because it is wikipedia after all... but this says inmates only eat twice per day anyways. If that is the case, it's been her standard for almost 5 years now...

Joe Arpaio - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

yes but - and i am not supporting defense, just don't want an appeal - testifying as a lot more strenuous that laying around her cell sketching pics - and she doesn't have access to the jail canteen in court - and can't use the money on her books in court - imo -

i don't know about the rules of her family buying her snacks or her bringing food w/ her from jail?? but i would think sheriff joe would prolly be very strict about this from his previous actions - imo
