I don't think that's really correct. If Travis had been killed as she attempted to or was stealing the gun, that would fit, I think.
Felony murder was designed to make sure criminals were accountable for deaths occurring as an indirect result of the commission of a dangerous crime. Like if one person accompanies another to a robbery and engages in the robbery, but does not intend to kill anyone, however their accomplice (unbeknownst to them), does, and does kill someone, the criminal who committed robbery but did not intend to kill nor knew their accomplice was going to, that first person can be convicted of felony murder.
