Well, I think the double standards go both ways. A woman that engages in enthusiastic sex is called names and a man involved in the very same situation is passed off as "just being a guy".

It may not be right but jurors perceptions are extremely important and if they have a reluctance to assign the DP to a woman based on her sex, it definitely has to be factored in. After all, the jurors are human and have opinions and views shaped by their life experiences. As wrong as it sounds, people are less enthusiastic about putting to death a woman, regardless of how gruesome her crime. Just like they are more likely to excuse a man for the same sexual behaviors they condemn a woman for.
