I know this is a little off topic, but I've only been following this case for about 2 weeks [the beginning of Jodi's testimony]. I knew a little about the case when I began watching her on the stand and considered her guilty, but, when I saw her testifying, I was struck by how innocent and sweet she seemed. This caused me initially to question whether she had been justified in doing what she did. I've since studied enough to understand that this is not the case, imo.
However, one thing that I wanted to ask about are the pictures taken that day and found in the camera. Those pictures are telling a story. There is the story that Jodi wants us to believe [an afternoon of sex and sexy pictures in the shower that suddenly went bad] and the real story--whether it's that or something else.
So here's my question. Two pictures from the afternoon of sex--one shows Travis lying on the bed making a peace sign. One shows Jodi lying on the bed naked in braids. Neither one is smiling or looking particularly happy, although Jodi might look smug.
In the Travis peace sign picture, take a look at his face. He looks very distressed. My question is why is he making a peace sign? Is this a message to his friends who will later view the picture? Is this a message to Jodi who is taking the picture? It just seems very odd, particularly given the look on his face.
Who took the picture of Jodi in braids? I believe she took that herself with the automatic timer. Again, she is not smiling or seeming to be interacting in any way with a lover behind the camera. I believe there was no one behind the camera, only a timer.
Now to the shower pictures. First, again, Travis looks very distressed to me in every picture. In a couple, he looks like he is praying [head down eyes closed]. I believe he was on his knees or sitting down in all those pictures. Without going through them one by one, you will see in many of those pictures, the photographer [Jodi] is standing above him. The picture is clearly being taken from above. In others, she is clearly squatting down [which she admitted, btw] to take them from way below him, but he has not moved--he is still in the same kneeling or sitting position.
Now, my question is--who kneels or sits down in a stand up shower of that sort? Not only is there no reason to do it, it would be down right uncomfortable. Given this, and the look on his face in each picture, I believe he was being forced to assume those positions by someone holding a weapon on him.
In one of the shower pictures, he has both hands pressed in front of his chest. Two of the fingers on his left hand, although folded, seemed to me to be purposely raised above the rest--again, in a truncated peace sign. Again, I thought --is he trying to send a message to those who would view these pictures? It almost reminded me of prisoners of war who are forced to testify against their country but send a contradictory message in hand gestures.
Can anyone tell me--has there been this type of discussion about these pictures, either on the board or in the trial? Has there been any explanation for them [other than Jodi's self serving one]? Has anyone else commented on the incongruity of the peace sign with the look on his face?
Is there anyone who thinks,-- he did not know she was going to show up that day, she walked in on him with a weapon at 4am, and held him hostage until she killed him?
I have been looking and looking at those pictures, and the feeling that I get from them is that I am looking at a hostage situation. It gives me the creeps.
I wish I could ask Travis' friends, did he ever make the peace sign when he was having his picture taken?
