I loved that Juan made JA read the magazine messages. "Here, you read them." Great moment. I enjoyed watching her try to play cool. You just know she was livid about it.

& look how she read it w/ no hesitation, she knew the code, & didn't even pretend to stumble over it...

I had to leave the feed at about 4:30 cst but I watched JVM. They showed a clip of JA laughing today.... can someone tell me what she was smirking at? They showed it on JVM but didn't explain the context. TIA

That was after she told the prosecutor how his style was like Travis' and made her forget things.

Folks in court have said that people there gasped when she said that, so I wonder if her laughing was because she assumed they were gasping in a good way for her? She got a kick out of herself, regardless!

I am a very big animal lover, that is my Chihuahua in my avatar, and her saying she shook like a Chihuahua is a huge insult to every Chihuahua out there. They have feelings, they show love, they show happiness, they show emotion, something that she is so incapable of.

Bumping this.

THANK YOU, for this great post KaRN-- I had not quite put all of the pieces together on Juan's strategy today-- especially how the witness tampering may have played into it. I didn't know about the hearing long ago about the inadmissibility of the pedophile allegations-- and now it all makes sense. (I haven't followed the case very long.)

BUT-- my question is, if the pedophile allegations were inadmissible, AND Juan didn't object-- did he risk a mistrial or something? Is the judge upset about this? Was he "required" to object??

I think it's a great strategy (not objecting), so that the prosecutor can bring in more evidence to dismantle her lies-- but I'm puzzled about how it's all going down. Was that legal/proper?

Same as the magazines and journals-- surely the defense knew about these?! I cannot believe Juan wouldn't have been above board about them. And yet, it sure seemed to me that the defense team acted as though they had never heard of the journals or magazines before Juan brought them out. That was very puzzling to me. Surely they would have objected if they were not listed in discovery? Did the defense team REALLY overlook them? (That boggles the mind, as related to the journals, especially.)

I admit I was a little confused for a while today as to where the ship was sailing -- and I just hope that the jury wasn't! I was pretty confused about the Donovan/ Campbell/ Matt connection-- hopefully Juan makes it VERY clear next week! I totally got the pattern of stalking and confrontations, possessiveness, lies, etc.

I think I see where Juan Martinez is going with all this-- and given another hour or 2 today, he would have connected all the dots. (Shame he didn't get to do that before the long trial break.)

I think the defense knew about the magazines, but didn't realize the significance of them . When they were looking at them JW was pointing out things and then Nurmi said approach.

I don't know about anyone else, but when JM started with the pic of JA and her dumb sister, I started cracking up.

This is how you treat someone who wastes your time and insults your intelligence.

The 2 male lawyers on Dr D made some really good points about how Juan could do better. I really liked both their input. Especially the first guy talking.

IMO, Juan did good today, but everyone could of course improve and I think the part where he could improve the most is to slow down some and after making point A, stop and really hammer it home before jumping to point B.

A good example is the magazines. He had real good evidence there, but then jumped right to something else. I was like....WTH. Why not stop a minute and hammer home one summary statement about trying to manipulate a witness and then end that story line and then go to point B. The problem with not pausing there is we are left to think the stuff with point B has something to do with Point A, so we are waiting and waiting still for the point. And then we break for the weekend and are like WTH. What is the main point.

Sure, we kind of got it, but that to me is an area of huge improvement that could help Juan with the jury.

After seeing Juan on Direct, I realize this is just his style and he probably will not be able to change his style. Maybe he will at least slow down some. He moves so quick.

Darn good point. Right after the magazine deal, I was still trying to absorb that and he was on to something else.

Just slow it down a little JM. The jury hasn't been living this trial as long as he has. :seeya:

Oh lovely. Just lovely.

Thank you!

I noticed that and have wondered the significance, what would make her write that in there, almost bragging to herself. She craves attention, maybe learning early on being cute gets you things.

If I got my journal out and recorded each time a man hit on me or asked me out, well! well.. it would pretty empty, but that's besides the point.

(first, I would need to buy one of those journal things...) I probably have one with Holly Hobby on it from the 60's or 70's and I put money on it, its empty or i drew in it.

Her journal is a tribute to herself, she no doubt thought she would be destined for greatness and enjoyed living her exploits or revising real life to what she thought it should be for her.

Did you catch the entry about what she said about Travis, the comment that sounded like 13 year old teenager. I forget the wording but she was clearly wrapped up in visions of him.

The oddest thing was after she killed Travis, she kept her journal as though she hadn't killed him. I guess she was creating her own alibi. She seems the type that reveled in the attention or sympathy she would have gotten over the loss of Travis from family and friends (she didn't get that from HIS friends or family though)

She is just so freaking nuts. She really thinks she is going to get away with this and "show" people. She seems to view the world and the people in it with contempt, as if they are too stupid and ugly to understand her life. She feels she deserves special treatment and always will. She surely will get special treatment on death row!!!

Yes, he had roommates. Travis was gone frequently and traveled quite a bit. The area of his home where he lived had the door closed. Travis lived a non-dangerous lifestyle. His roommates couldn't imagine that he was dead inside his shower.

I've heard morticians (one of them being Ask A Mortician on YouTube) and people who work with the deceased attest that the smell of human decomposition is actually quite sweet, that once you smell it you will never forget it and always recognize it but it isn't what you would assume it is.

I just saw the autopsy photos of the defensive wounds, edema and bruising all over Travis's hands and really hope they show Jodi's alleged 'broken finger' with or without the next day manicure, along side photos of his hands in closing.
I'm trying to imagine getting a manicure with even a sprained knuckle, let alone a self diagnosed fracture. One or the other didn't happen and I'm guessing there's a receipt for the manicure.
Off topic, but I love your avatar. That case is coming up very soon, but it will never be played out like this.

About the magazines...they had to be available to the defense through discovery. However, just because they were available, doesn't mean that the DT was smart enough to look through them to know what they were all about.

I agree, with 400 - 500 pieces of evidence, a magazine may have seemed unimportant.

Today I paid attention to what the defense looked at when they had them. They went page by page looking for a "photo" ad that might be some pose she was shown in or put Travis in. They did not open the magazines wide enough to see the inside binding area. So they missed the writing all together. Handed it back and had no objection. Oops....

My small bits of observations...since I could not watch live with y'all. Obviously not of any big importance...since I am sure the same observations have been made over and over again.
Very opening before the jury comes in I swear it looks like Jodi was praying. Or meditating. Or something. Very weird. I have never seen her do that before.

Juan...no niceties...no "Good morning Miss Arias" no nada. Just comes swinging right out of the gate.

The whole "Dumb sister" exchange was so hilarious. She clearly got angry for him calling her sister dumb...although he wasn't really. Her whole demeanor is really amazing to see...I know everyone has commented already. Rude, snarky, angry, witchy. She reminds me of some guys in the past I have met where they are trying to sell me a line of bs and I know they are and I call them on it and I am not believing their story.....so then they turned on me and got mad at me. Juan is not believing her story and she is VERY angry about that...so she has let her true self show. Reminds me of survivors of Ted Bundy, how a few commented on how charming and sweet he was, until they wised up and realized that something was wrong and they weren't going home or wherever they were going. Then all of a sudden he changed and turned into his true angry murderous self...his eyes just changed and you could see the hate and fury. This is what she reminds me of, although right now it is pretty controlled.

"I called her dumb and stupid." LOL!

What the HELLO is up with Nurmi's socks???????? For once he is decently dressed and he has what looks like Halloween or Hello Kitty socks or something...dead serious, looks like something my kids have.

"Do you have problems with your memory?" Love how he called her out on that. Funny how she can remember the price of gas in 2008 but not recall important bits of her crime.

Nurmi objecting and saying "argumentative." Funny how most of his objections are for being argumentative. And most were overruled.

SHE broke up with Travis. Riiight.

She stalked him through the window......she didn't want to answer that question straight.

"Judge she's not answering my questions." BWHAHAHA

She fabricates text msgs....surprise surprise.

"How did that make you feeeeel?" LOLOL.

She apparently wanted to make up a new definition for monogamous.

She uses the word "courting?" Bizarre....

She just does not want to talk about her bent finger.

"Again, do you have a problem with your memory??":floorlaugh:

"I only remember things that are crystallized in the mind." :waitasec:

"With regard to Mr. Burns-you do remember who he is right?" :floorlaugh:

It sure looked today like he was not familiar.

And Jennifer Wilmott looked startled, and then thinly disguised dismay.

And, dontcha know, Wilmott and Nurmi may be havin' some "words" with Mizz Arias bout that this weekend. :what:

Bet Nurmi and Wilmott are wondering what ELSE they will be blindsided with. :furious::furious: <------Wilmott and Nurmi

Maybe that was where she learned about advil thinning the blood -- from the boob job doctor

While Advil (ibuprofen) does have some anti-coagulant effect, it is very small, especially in relation to aspirin. And it doesn't last from day to day. Jodi was a fool if she thought otherwise. Of course, we all know that she never had any intention of suicide. Another big lie.

Hey mck
It is so nice to be in total agreement with you.

I've heard morticians (one of them being Ask A Mortician on YouTube) and people who work with the deceased attest that the smell of human decomposition is actually quite sweet, that once you smell it you will never forget it and always recognize it but it isn't what you would assume it is.

OMG. Sorry, but the smell is horrible. And true you will never forget it. Not much different than road kill. jmo

Or the client to tell them ahead of time. they were definitely caught off guard.

this has probably already been mentioned, but does anyone else think that who broke up with who is a hot button for her? She's very insistent that she is the one who ended her relationships.

She is the one who MUST be in charge of the situation. It is obvious.

MOO

Some babies get surgery when they are little and I am not sure but that might be only if its moderate to severe? But a mild one, or one that does not bother the person, I would leave it alone.. surgery requires general anesthesia so if it does not affect vision my guess they are left alone!

Um, ok, I want to see forward and sideways at the same time. Are you kidding or can you really? that is actually neat

I've had surgery for this twice. Didn't work the first time when I was 13. I tried again in my 30s because my boss said it bothered people to look at me. Didn't work again. And I had well respected surgeons both times. I'm not going through it again. If people don't like to look at me they can look elsewhere!
