What is sickening is she uses her own mother to put out her outlandish lies. She has no shame and will use anyone for her own personal gain.

"The victim was then stabbed 27 times in the back, shoulders, head and chest. Cuts on the hands were defensive wounds from grabbing the knife. With the exception of two wounds, these wounds were not fatal. The two fatal wounds were a deep stab wound to the chest and then a cut
across the throat. While conscious, the victim would have felt pain and mental anguish associated with these multiple wounds."

They are all in the minutes dated August 18, 2009.

That cut to his throat went all the through to his spine. He was almost decapitated. This was a prolonged and vicious torturing with Travis alive and aware of what was being done to him.

This is not IMO how someone acts in self defense. In self defense, a person as quickly as possible disables (even if not dead) their attacker and then runs like hell and calls 911, screams for someone to help them, runs to the first house they see and pounds on the door screaming for help.

I'm so disgusted JA is attempting a self defense defense strategy. It was a brutal, prolonged torture and deliberate murder.

I thought so too Ocean but then when Jodi showed the detective the injury to her fingers I couldn't understand it. If I saw it right her middle and ring finger were sliced, in the crease made by the knuckle. Why wouldn't her pointer finger be damaged when the knife slid back from the blood and cut her? IMO Travis may have deflected a blow with his hand and that caused the knife to slide back but the way I would hold a knife to stab someone either my pinkie is the first finger nearest the blade or my pointer and thumb is.

I think the knife was maybe two sided edge blade and that is why she had cuts in the creases. It would all depend on where the pinkie was located at the time ..it could have been lower down than the two fingers who were cut in the crease. Its hard to know for sure since we werent there at the time her fingers got cut in the creases.

I went and held a knife with my left hand just now.....:floorlaugh: I noticed I tend to drop the pinkie finger lower and the other two fingers are more on a straight plain.

Where in the interview does she mention having pants with a zipper. I have never seen pants like that, but I am seeing what looks like a zipper in the dragging pic.

I think her only chance was to plead not guilty by reason of insanity. She is clearly a mental case. If I was on that jury, I would want to hear from an expert about her state of mind.

Katfish I think that would also be an uphill battle. If I understand correctly the legal definition for the court to recognize insanity does not include psychopaths or other assorted fruits whose actions show the person knew right from wrong and tried to circumvent/avoid responsibility for his/her actions.

Morning WS'ers I'm watching In-Session and the replay of the interviews with Detective Flores. He is amazing in the way he treats her and drags infomation out of her. I wish he would have interrogated Casey Anthony instead of Allen (who I thought did a bad job at Universal). Yuri was the calm one who did a much better job. But, boy, Flores is good!

Today should be interesting with an ex-girlfriend (I believe).

iirc it was in one of the very first interviews... where he asked her if she had track pants with stripes down the leg/zippers up the leg and she said she did (but of course tells him they were a different color, etc etc etc)

I hope she does!!! I have a morbid curiousity as to her emotions (lack thereof). I want to see how a true monster ticks for some reason.

I'm not saying I buy her story, but there are very clear cases over "overkill" in homicides that stem from battered spouse syndrome. They snap and want to make sure the other person never hurts them or anyone else again, plus the emotions involved...

Again, not saying this is what happened. Just saying it is possible based on the current defense narrative and I would not be surprised if this is the reason given by the defense.

I dont think the evidence supports BWS although it seems if a female cruelly and visciously murders a male that become the tired old standby excuse used. Im rather sick of hearing it actually.

In fact I cant wait for DA Martinez to examine the DT expert. I think he can have a field day with her asking her hypotheticals using Travis as the victim and JA as the profile of a true abuser.

Precisely! Though some have argued people with cluster B personality disorders should be able to argue diminished responsibility. (I haven't seen any case law - I just know researchers have argued such.)

Either way it would still only be a partial defense. At the end of the day though it's akin to someone arguing they shouldn't be responsible for killing someone because they're a bad person in my opinion.

Jumping off your post - it occured to me that JA's mom/sister/others don't live in AZ do they? I thought they were from Yreka. Which begs me to wonder where they are living during the trial. It's my understanding they do not come from a family of means, and the expense of not working, staying at a hotel/rental would be quite costly. It's probably irrelevent, but am curious how they are funding their stay. 3 months is a long time (if that's how long this trial is going to last).

Det: Flores was amazing. How many times have we seen in the news of a murderer getting out of prison because the detectives either abused their position or they screwed up protocol?

Flores did everything by.the.book.

i admire him, he didn't threaten , he gently and calmly steered jodi into the direction of truth. He was using a soft non threatening approach in order to make sure she was relaxed. His voice being so soft and gentle is probably due to technique, in order to make Jodi feel that he was on her side, that he understood, he was receptive to her feelings during the crime and aftermath.

I have nothing but respect for this man, and I don't usually like cops (The arrogant "Let's do what we want, we are above the law" types which are plenty in the UK) IMO

Watching Flores work that conversation was incredible. Jodi is like a 6 year old child who denies denies denies even in the face of pure 100% evidence!

You never know. No one thought Diane Downs would take the stand and she did. They are both similar in the way that they feel they if they can just explain then you will see it their way.

To give you some idea of how much blood loss occurred and how fast it could have been lost with the neck injury that Travis received, here is the link to a youtube video of a Buffalo Sabres hockey goalie who was struck with an ice skate during a game. The skate cut a 6" gash in his neck and severed his interior carotid artery. **Correction: should have said jugular vein**
