Joseph Scott Morgan, Death Investigator, Ask Me Anything May 7th @8:00 PM Eastern

Thoughts on the potential serial killer in the northeastern US? Is it just a media spectacle or is there something more to it?

I would like to hear JSM's thoughts on a case out of Georgia. Not interested in the corrupt firefighter aspect, he's just a bad actor driven by a lack of morals. To my knowledge, he is not suspected of being involved with the deaths of Qaadir & Naazir. Below is a brief description of the case. More detailed news links are also provided.

===============================================================

The recent investigation into the deaths of Qaadir and Naazir Lewis, twin brothers found dead on Bell Mountain in Georgia, has led to the arrest of a volunteer firefighter for taking photos of the scene. While the Georgia Bureau of Investigation initially classified the deaths as a murder-suicide, the twins' family and friends dispute this, stating the twins were not known to visit or even be familiar with the area. Further forensic tests are needed to determine the final cause of death, says the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

Here's a more detailed breakdown:

Couple other questions:
What indicators at a death scene most often get overlooked by less experienced investigators?
Have you ever disagreed with an official ruling on cause or manner of death? What happened?
Has any case ever made you feel afraid or personally threatened?
How do you handle being around so much trauma and grief on a daily basis?
and finally...
If you weren’t doing this, what would you be doing instead?

What made you feel compelled to pursue a career in forensics, death investigation, etc.? Is there a significant event that influenced your interests, or a cumulation of experiences that aided in choosing your career?

Also, as a fellow Southerner, has that had an impact on your career, negative or positive?

I’m a born and bred Floridian who has also spent significant time doing volunteer work on the Gulf Coast, here and Louisiana specifically, I’ve noticed sometimes that people can be dismissive of one because of that,— along with having to work around complicated issues of overburdened, underfunded, and unfortunately sometimes, corrupted government and law enforcement.

If you could give any advice to others who are curious about pursuing a similar career, what would it be? Are there things you wished you knew before you moved from college to career, and what qualities do you think matter most in order to pursue a career like yours?

Thank you so much!

How has the role you play changed over the course of your career?

How do you see death investigation potentially changing in the future?

What do people most often misunderstand about what you do?

You said ask you anything, so here goes. This concerns the case of FL - Christian Toby Obumseli, Fatally stabbed, Miami, 3 Apr 2022 *gf arrested*. The gf is OnlyFans model Courtney Clenney. Her defense is that she threw the knife at him in self defense, not meaning to kill him. Supposedly, it was not a stab, it was a throw.

The Medical Examiner said the knife went in downward near the collarbone area, and pierced into his body hitting the Subclavian Artery. Unless she was a professional knife thrower, it's unbelievable what she claims. The downward angle and depth doesn't seem possible in a knife throw.

Her defense showed a video in court to request bail, and the video was of knife throwing expert throwing knives at a pig carcass. This was an attempt to support her self defense theory. However, the knife thrower in video is an expert, and was standing closer I think. She wants us to believe she threw the knife, in other words, not stabbed him. The question is-- what's your opinion and do you think it's possible for her to have thrown the knife and have it go into Christian's body deep enough and at a downward angle to hit the Subclavian Artery? Or perhaps it had to be a stab.
