Josh allegedly visits strip club after wife disappearance?

  • #81
Bet that is why the cops wanted the video of josh wearing the hat.

The man identified as Powell came in around 2 p.m. wearing a hat. He ordered two beers and a shot and left after about an hour-and-a-half to two hours. Burkholder says customers moved away from him and actually applauded as he walked out the door. His behavior was "outlandish," club owner Rydell Mitchell said.

If he drink two beers and a shot between about 4 pm and 5 pm wouldn't the police who greeted him when he arrived home around 5 pm notice alcohol on his breath?

A surveillance video of him establishing that he was at this club that afternoon would certainly be a coup for a prosecutor to have for trial.

I saw the updated story on the local news. (No video is posted yet). Several people spoke on camera describing Josh as being a jerk and wanting everyone to know he was having a bad day. They claim they didn't realize it was Josh until approximately one week later when they saw him on tv (probably the famous blue stripe hat 6 minute video). The police confirmed that the people from this business called them (about one week after Susan disappeared).

Friends of Susan do not believe it is true. They don't think it sounds like Josh. They also wonder where the kids would have been while he was inside.

BBM above...The friends did not believe Josh was capable of hurting Susan either , but she is missing and his story is hinky and he was the last person to see her.

We have no idea what Charlie has said and then you got to wonder how would a 4 year old describe staying in a van for 2 hours.

IMO it's very true to form of Josh to go someplace such as a strip club and want peoples attention, everything all about him "He had a bad day" Geez Josh, what kind of a day do you think Susan was having? What kind of a day do you think your son's are having being taken out of their warm beds and out into the freezing dark night?

I understand friends thinking it would not be like Josh to go to a strip club, but what they'll have to come to terms with eventually is that they did not know who Josh really is, he pretended to be a certain way because it suited his purpose, much like I believe he pretended to be a certain way to get Susan to marry him.

What I worry about now is, with Susan gone, where is Josh putting all of him control issues? People can only do the "acting nice" for so long and then the mean. spiteful acts always seem to come out. From the sounds of it he did many hateful things towards Susan and now that she's not there to be the target, someone else is going to be.

"Duces" Wild

Well, nobody claims to be a scholar there.

Its fairly common to have intentional "mispellings" in business names. I'm guessing the owner is named Charles Duce or something like that.

I believe this story.

The friends of Susan Powell who are doubting JP was at the strip club are the same friends who believe JP killed Susan, put her in the back of the family van, loaded up Charlie and Braden and went off on an escapade to bury Susan's body.

If JP was nefarious enough to have the boys in the van with him while he was transporting Susan's body, it is NOT impossible for me to believe he left them asleep in the back of the van covered up with blankets while he went into the strip club!

One would think a father who has his 2 and 4 year old children in a van with their dead mother in the back would bring something along to keep the children sedated while he disposes of her body!

One of the first things JP probably thought about while he was in the "what am I going to do now?" phase, if he killed Susan, was how he'd prevent the boys from witnessing him getting rid of their mother which caused him to quickly realize he needed to sedate them to prevent them from waking up while he was digging the hole or getting her out of the van to drag her body, etc.

It would be nice to know if Susan or JP had a prescription for sleeping or anti-anxiety medication, either past or present, which Josh could have easily given to the boys with Clonipin being a good example because it tastes good and dissolves in the mouth.

The reason Josh didn't come home immediately after being informed Susan was missing was because he was at this strip club, not "just driving around West Valley City" like he told Tim Peterson! If JP was simply 2 hours away from West Valley City, he would have said, I was driving home!

This scenario is simply my opinion!

There ya go!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That's it. They have the video and they want Josh to deny being there. Nothing better then to prove a defendant is a liar.

BBM. Hey, has anyone asked Susan's neighbors who she is?

I was over at the Powell house the morning we decorated it before Josh came back that week. I was standing next to Kiirsi when she asked one of their neighbors about "miss moonie". The neighbor stated that she did not know who the woman was, but we don't think she was telling the truth. That particular neighbor was at the house that night and would very well know who it was that mooned everyone.

They should have named it Se' Duces Wild!

If Josh can be proved to be at the club, and it sounds like a drew peterson (🤬🤬🤬🤬 channel on cable during missing wife) trick.
If boys were left alone in van, then my guess is Josh did this more than 1 time.
He knew the strip or other strip clubs......comfortable.
Oh, I pray that Susan is found and Josh is arrested and the boys are in a good home soon.

A person who does not drink as a rule would behave outlandishly after a shot and two beers, no doubt! They didn't throw him out because he was entertaining everyone present and didn't cause a big enough disturbance by starting a fight, etc. Regardless of his annoying, obnoxious behavior, everyone was highly entertained by Josh, no matter what each individual's unique emotional reaction was, which is why they allowed him to remain.

He could have used a breath freshener. He probably drank the alcohol when he first arrived. Does anyone know if Josh had a habit of carrying breath freshener, mints or chewing gum in his pocket or glove box?

Ways Josh has been "venting" and controlling since Susan's disappearance:

Not allowing Charlie and Braden to go to Susan's parents house for Charlie's birthday party

"Demanding" that Susan's parents come to his father's house for Charlie's birthday party, if they wanted to spend time with their grandsons

Refusing to cooperate with the police

Refusing to participate in efforts to find Susan

Refusing to speak with reporters, both newspaper and TV

Gutting the Powell's West Valley City home and moving to Washington

Publishing the http://susanpowell.org web site

Refusing to return Chuck Cox's phone calls

Refusing to allow frequent, ongoing visitation between Susan's parents and the boys

Seducing Susan's friends, neighbors and ward members into helping him pack up the West Valley City home so he could move

Renting out SUSAN'S home

Posting unflattering photos of Susan, while bragging about all his accomplishments and not even mentioning Susan's stockbroker job at Wells Fargo, on his http://susanpowell.org web site

Disabling the http://charliepowell.org site

Ditching reporters by having his brother follow the moving truck in the Powell van, driving it back home, hiding it in the garage then walking back to the moving truck to drive to Washington with his brother as a passenger.

Taking down all the ribbons, signs, fliers, etc. from the West Valley City home.

Sneaking off and renting a car.

Using various people for his own gain to pick him up at the airport, help him pack, let him use their computer, provide him a place to stay while he was in WVC packing up the contents of the Powell home, etc.

Possibly posting comments on various sites such as Facebook, Salt Lake Tribune news articles, etc.

Throwing his sister and her husband, Jennifer and Kirk Graves, out of the Powell home for bringing up Susan's name, after they had driven 15 hours to see Josh, Charlie, Braden, Steve, etc. !!!

What if the alleged visit was to 'create an alibi'? "I'm going to show up somewhere public, make it well known I am there." Perhaps his belligerent behavior was on purpose, to create a scene. Grabbing someone's drink? That's over the top, and he obviously wasn't plastered drunk, he was making a scene.

"You don't know what kind of day I've had." = I need to demonstrate I am having marital trouble, I'm coming here to have a drink and eye some girls. That's what Homer Simpson does when he has home trouble, right? "Things are out of sorts, I had a fight with my wife last night..."

However, like all things, it seems weird and inconsistent if that is what his intention was. Was he surprised to hear Susan was missing when he got home?

But again, this all may be FUD from the strip club. Who knows...

Josh Powell has been reported as being obnoxious, someone who never stops talking and constantly interrupts, peculiar to the point Susan's father stated to Melinda Rogers of the Salt Lake Tribune that he wondered if he was mentally ill and it has been said that NONE of Susan's friends liked Josh.

Now try to imagine this obnoxious, annoying, weird guy (who doesn't normally drink) with a shot and two beers in him!

I say the the strip club had someone on their hands whose behavior was absolutely outlandish!

Well now we know what his sister will be thinking when he ask her to babysit the boys for a couple of hours so he can go to the new computer club in town. LOL

Good post! Just a few random thoughts....

1. I'm not going to assume that he normally doesn't drink. We don't have any evidence either way. I've know a few folks who were disenchanted with Church in SLC. They had some vices that their family and neighbors either didn't know about, or pretended they weren't aware of.
2. In watching the report, they actually didn't say he was outlandish, (to me) they absolutely implied he was obnoxious. (Exactly as you depict, above.)
3. Everything I've seen of J. is (to me) obnoxious so while he might have been a bit more "on", I think he was totally in character.
Life is, after all, all about him. :winko:

Seems odd to me that a guy who doesn't normally drink orders a two beers and a bump. A bartender could speak to this, but it sounds like someone reasonably comfortable in the bar.

What could Josh have been thinking on Monday around noon, 12 hours after he possibly killed Susan?

"What am I going to do now! I've got to go home! People are going to want answers! I wish they would stop calling! I've got to answer the phone. No, I can't! I'll just keep driving. I'll come up with something! OK. I'll answer this one. It's Tim Peterson. I'm not talking to that Kiirsi!"

(Josh picks up the phone around 3:00 when Tim calls again and learns the police have broken into his home and are waiting for him.)

"Oh man! I'm not going home now! If I wait long enough, the police will surely leave! After all, they've been there for hours! Where can I go to kill some time? What should I do? A shot! I need a shot! I've GOT to calm down! Where's a bar? I can't just go to any old bar. Someone I know might see me! Where's that strip club WH told me about? Oh that's right! I remember! What am I going to do with the boys? Think, Josh, think! Hey! I can give them that cough medicine I brought that they love so much that makes them sleepy! You are brilliant! I'll just give them more than usual and it will knock them both out fast! Good thinking! I'll turn the heater up high, get the van really hot then put them in the back and pile blankets on top of them! I won't be in there that long!"

(Josh finds the strip club, gives the boys the medicine, puts them in the back, covers them up then tells the sleepy boys he's going into the store and will be right back.)

Josh goes in the bar, has a shot then asks for a beer to wash the horrible taste away. After the effects of the shot and beer take over, Josh is not thinking straight, especially after not having slept or eaten recently, and orders another beer.

Because Josh's thinking is impaired, he stays much longer than he planned, forgetting about the sleeping boys in his van!

- This is only a possible scenario and simply my opinion, not fact -
