Kaine attends 3 hours of meetings at sheriff's office

  • #41
I was offline for a religious holiday earlier this week, and I have been having trouble keeping up with the volume of threads. Is this how they know for sure he was at work all day on June 4th? (I just ask b/c I didn't see any clear info on that in the thread on this topic, and that was going to be one of my questions I wanted to ask LE for their statement/presser.)

ETA: I'm going to take another leaf through the thread on this issue and see if I can catch myself up. I thought I'd link it in case anyone else was interested:

Was Kaine at home or work the day that Kyron disappeared? - Websleuths Crime Sleuthing Community

I asked the same in the questions for LE. Here is what Kaine has said about his day.

"I last saw him at about 7:45 am. He was coming back to the house after feeding our cat (Bootsie) and I was heading out to the car to head into the office," Kyron's father told Fox 12. "I walked over to him, told him I was extremely proud of him for the effort he put into his red-eyed tree frog project, and for him to have a great and fun day at the science fair."

Kaine also told Kyron he would take him for a special treat or playing the Wii after school. That morning stays with Kyron's father.

'"He said 'I love you too, Dad,' at which point we hugged, and then he went into the house as I got into the car and left. While I have not seen him since, that moment in time is still etched in my mind as if it just happened and is a constant reminder of the joy of having him as a son."

Kyron not on the bus

Kaine Horman cleared up any confusion regarding the fact he was home the day Kyron was scheduled to get off the bus.

"I was in the office that day until about 1:45 and arrived back home a little after 2 p.m.," Kaine said."

He says he left for work, but does not say what time he arrived at work. I'm curious also.

I'd just like for LE to straight out and say, "The whereabouts of the following people are completely kosher and confirmed..."

That would help me.

This to me is hinky.

I suspect that if anyone else had been called in under these circumstances, it would have been called "questioning." But for KH, it's called "meetings."

Just making a mental note: Kaine's narrative doesn't include the phrase "I love you" to his son, nor does it include any reference to having told his son that he loved him, yet Kyron's response as reported by Kaine is "I love you too, dad."

I have to agree - I just watched the video and paused on the exact moment where KH looks at the camera, and I see nothing that would indicate to me that the meeting was some kind of "bad" event for him.

MOO.

To me, he looked cocky. MOO.

I'm not sure they would ask him this directly, since he is not trained in anything like that, but I should think they would have a long chat with him so they could extract info useful for that purpose.

My issue here, though, is I am sure they have already done a lot of that, so three hours, now, after all this time, seems like it's to more of a purpose, KWIM?

There was a news report maybe a week ago that LE was working on firming up the timeline. Timelines are very time-consuming to create and review. I'm going to put my :twocents: on this being a timeline review.

His recollection is a little too perfect. I think the night before was wild with Terri doing the science project. An after-school treat that was not preceded with a special pick-up at school to get him and the project which would have been more confluent with the plans as stated. Doesn't add up to me, sounds a bit too pat. Just one of many nice and clean recollections of Kyron's last day with the family.

imo

Unless it was Terri, then it would have been called 'interrogation'.

Exactly.

Interesting that the news reporter said he "refused" to answer questions.

Why is that interesting? There have been many times they do not answer questions, ostensibly to not compromise the investigation.

I'd just like for LE to straight out and say, "The whereabouts of the following people are completely kosher and confirmed..."

That would help me.

It would help me too but it would probably damage the investigation. They have to keep where they are going and what they are focusing on under wraps so they can proceed unfettered.

I had to watch it about 300 times since the clip was so short, but he looked pleasant, slight smile, friendly, relaxed, but eyes pained. Poor guy.

I agree, but that isn't unexpected or necessarily sinister in times of loss or stress. Every Holocaust survivor I have ever talked with speaks of their life before the war was if it were pure heaven on earth - I think we (humans) just construct things that way. Perfect. Because we need to believe perfection once existed, I guess.

However, that being said, I find these statements from the family of little use, case-wise. MOO.

Every time I read that Kyron fed the cat before school, I think what a great kid he is.

Not many kids his age are that responsible.

Isn't the restraining order hearing tomorrow? I'm wondering if that isn't why Kaine and LE met...to make sure what comes up in the hearing isn't blowing something in the investigation or to make sure he has the dates/times/testimony straight.

Not sure what happens in an RO hearing, but that's something to consider, isn't it?

I bet he couldn't remember what happened the night before, I bet nothing happened that impacted his life. But you can bet he can remember everything that happened concerning his son that morning, the last time he ever saw him, that will be etched in his brain forever

It might help to know that LE often meets with the family for further questioning... NOT as a potential suspect, but to go over details that might have been forgotten, misinterpreted, or just to firm up the timeline. Also maybe to update him on what new information they may have uncovered. Or he could have found out something he wanted to talk to them about. Could be all of the above.

Oh that's right! That's got to be what this meeting was for. Thanks for the reminder, Herding.

I wonder if Kaine actually went to the school to see Kyrons project. I haven't heard confirmation if he attended at all...anyone know?

My husband and I would never miss going to the yearly school science fair's for our 2 boys. It was a real BIG deal to us and the boys.

I should think we'd have heard of that by now, unless it is one of those details LE has hidden. But, from interviews and such, I'd say KH was not at the fair, nor had he planned on being there.
