KC's "Brain Development"

I don't know if anyone has said this yet but Jesse Grund insists she was perfectly NORMAL while they were together..It wasn't til after they split up that she changed dramatically..As he has said numerous xs in media interviews "I don't KNOW this Casey".

I have heard of certain mental disorders that sometimes don't show up in a person til around their 20's..Could this possibly be the case with her?

eta..I just watched one of those old JG videos (with NG 2009) yesterday, before I even saw this thread, cos CNN added it (along with NG & Baez from 2008) probably cos of the trial.

It could also have been as simple as he saw what he wanted to see. He was young and in love.

My daughter has Aspergers and she knows right from wrong. She misreads social cues, which causes her to have few friends. Mostly, she doesn't realize when the conversation has shifted to a new topic and stays stuck on the old one. This makes her repetitive. She says the same thing over and over. But not in an argumentative way. She doesn't realize people have grown bored with her. Othewise, she is very kind and can communicate empathy...which is why it took her so long to diagnose. She can verbally empathize far longer than the person needs to hear!

So I don't think Casey has Aspergers that made her commit a crime. More likely, she has PTSD from early abuse (or alleged abuse) of some kind which has caused her to be immature.

I think the DT is going to use this to explain her behavior after Caylee's death, with her death being an accident, or her disappearance still explained as a kidnapping. If she is convicted, this brain development theory may keep her from the death penalty.

I do see the bus on it's way to mow down George, though I doubt he is the perpetrator of any abuse!

I have seen two very disturbing sides to Casey. The first one is the person we know so well and love to hate. She is manipulative, fake, takes on a superior attitude towards her family and friends, and is evil incarnate. There is nothing likable about this Casey. She has no redeeming qualities and is certainly responsible for the death of this poor baby girl.

The other side of Casey is equally disturbing. She is a child. A small, meek, kind-of likable little girl. You have to look hard for this Casey, but she is there. She comes out every once in a while, usually around JB. I will try to post a link to a video of one of her early hearings. It was in January, of 2009, I believe.

Before the hearing, the microphones are on and you can hear everything that is going on at both the defense and the state's tables. You can hear an exchange between KC and JB where they are talking about using a pen. KC says something like, "But I like this one better anyway..."

She sounds, for all the world, like a sweet little 12-year-old who is being silly with her daddy.

I think this 2nd personality is the one that JB sees, because it is the only one she has shown him. She is socially and mentally immature, and that is apparent if you watch this video, and see and hear some of the exchanges between client/attorney (daughter/daddy, young woman/older suitor).

I would almost guess, these two personalities are real and alive in KC. Although, the latter personality could be an act, it seems real to me.

Think about the puppy-dog looks KC has been giving JB lately. She almost makes me feel sorry for this little girl part of her - almost.

In any case, I think she is very disturbed and, at least a part of her is very, very young.

However, in my mind, the second KC we see is...her attempt to be cute, flirty, innocent, damsel in distress/needy, etc. I think it's her MO and is pure manipulation...or she just can't turn off that cute/flirty side...it's worked so well in the past with all the men

George Anthony was asked as well if his daughter was all there mentally by a member of the media. He responded, "Oh yeah" and then goes on to say she doesn't take drug and she doesn't fly off the handle.

I'm just not seeing the brain development issues...

I thought the A's said she was a good student...if she had brain development issues, I would expect this would be in her academic records somewhere? That she struggled in school (other than her attendance, LOL)...

I thought the A's and DT were claiming she was a good employee...if she had brain development issues, I would expect this would be in her work records, that she had problems with details, follow-up, something that negatively impacted her job performance...maybe she struggled with tasks more than others?

Her friends? Anyone ever pick up on her having problems with any daily tasks, etc? Did she seem different in any regard? Other than her lying and making up stories (and stealing), did they ever really feel she was "different" than others in their groups?

She used her brain...it took a lot of work, planning, etc. to keep certain groups from certain other groups of people...she worked in advance to make up elaborate lies to keep Amy from her parents and finding out the whole "mom is moving out and giving me the house' story was a complete and fabricated lie. She kept her parents at bay for 31 days with all these elaborate LIES about being out of town when she was running around all over town.

Nope, not believing it. She was just a typical con artist. Nothing more, nothing less...until she killed her own daughter. Why do people always need to find a "reason" for just plain evil?

BBM. The only thing I can remember about a friend is that Kiomarie said that ICA would forget conversations they had very quickly. The example Kio gave was that ICA would call Kio and ask a question. Kio would find out the answer for her and call her back a day or two later, and ICA allegedly would not even remember asking the question... she would have no idea what Kio was talking about.

About the High School thing- I graduated in 1981 but nearly 1/3 of my class, did not. I came from a very middle/upper class neighborhood. Weird, I know but it's true. Something about the times, I suppose. Just wanted to say that- and my high school was a college prep school. Maybe a rebel thing going on. Of my closest friends, 3 of us out of 20ish graduated. The others eventually got their GED's or went back.... but ended up college graduates.

In terms of her brain development, or lack thereof, I think Anne F. is just doing her job. If the death penalty was not on the table, we'd hear nothing about that. She is trying very hard to show that ICA is somehow damaged and that is why she did what she did. She's damaged alright, but Anne needs to answer a question that jurors will have- Is ICA responsible for her actions- no matter how gruesome they were?!.

Anne F. and team know very well there is a huge possibility (more that 50%) that Casey could be sentenced to death and they need to get all possible scenarios on the table now- for appeals. There is NO RECORD in ICA's past that she had problems other than acting out or lies.

I challenge others to read some other cases- See what kind of horrific lives these people grew up in that at least give us some insight as to why someone would grow up to do the things some do. Casey came from dysfunction, but certainly not any thing that reaches the levels to explain what she did. A girl with brain development problems would have school records, juvenile reports, peer incidents,...etc. All indicate she was 'normal' although disrespectful. Anyway- just my opinion.

Anne is trying to explain the crime in the only way she can. Casey must be damaged - but casey has to ADMIT this even happened, first. And that won't happen. It's a fantasy defense.

I believe that I understand what you're asking......the anger is still about me, me , me........why are people treating ME this way, why are they expecting me to take care of this child, why are they expecting me to work? Just MOO

She needed him and so she only showed a picture she thought he wanted to see, that's all. The real Casey has always been there. He just got a very tailored down version. She would have eventually surfaced when he no longer served her purposes. It's just a very skilled manipulator at work here.
I have no doubt Jesse was confused hearing all this stuff about the girl he once (and may still) loved. He's a good person and good people get taken in by operators like Casey. Casey would have robbed him blind, cheated on him, and god knows what else- all in due time. I believe at the time, she needed him to get out of that hell-house and once that happened, she'd be on to her next victim. Remember, he was pegged as the father even though ICA knew he was not. It was starting already- he just couldn't see it.

I just think he was blinded by love and out of his element. He should color himself lucky that he just got a broken heart.

Uncle Rick told CA that Casey was a liar and a narcissist. It seems like he figured out right away what happened to Caylee. I just needed to refresh my memory about other family member's take on ICA.

Definitely a narcissist, possibly a sociopath. Lying is what they both do best. It takes no thought at all, it spews from their mouths without a blink of the eye.

Narcissists can act normal, they can fool so many people, but as they age, the condition actually becomes worse & it's harder for them to hide their true self.

They are great actors & also, if things are going their way, like when she was with the bf, she would act normal, cause it's what SHE wants to be doing.

I think presenting this shows me the defense is looking far ahead to the sentencing phase of the trial. Mainly because they are pretty certain their client will be found guilty and they need to gear up now to prevent the jury from voting death.

I think a vast portion of the population has borderline personality disorder to some degree. If they want to use mitigation, they will have to go deeper than that.

BBM - ITA if everything is going their way they can be fun and happy and nice to be around. Problem is you never know when or why they will change their mind and flip on you. If for whatever reason you are no longer meeting their needs then watch out! I think that would be very confusing for people who never saw that side of Casey to comprehend.
