Court documents offer graphic details of inside of Lenexa U-haul where police found man, two children and wife’s remains

LENEXA, Kan. -- Court documents paint a graphic description of the inside of the Lenexa storage unit where police found the body of a woman who'd just given birth and her husband with their two children.

The woman's husband, 35-year-old Justin Rey, is charged with child endangerment of the couple's newborn baby girl and two-year-old.

According to court documents, Rey admitted to employees at the Lenexa U-haul that he had stayed inside the storage unit at least one night with the two children. He also told U-haul employees he was there to retrieve things for his wife, who had recently died.

Husband faces new charges in case of woman’s dismembered body found in Lenexa storage unit
The husband of a woman whose dismembered body was found in a Lenexa storage unit was charged Wednesday with abandonment of a corpse.

Justin Rey told police that his wife died after giving birth in a Kansas City hotel room and he cut up her body in the bathtub, according to court documents filed Wednesday in Jackson County.
A large cooler and plastic tub containing the remains of Jessica Monteiro Rey were discovered last month by Lenexa police.
Police found Rey staying in the storage unit with his two children, a 2-year-old and a 4-day-old newborn.

Because he had a newborn, an officer asked Rey where his wife was. Rey said she was in the cooler and a tote he had with him, according to an affidavit filed in Johnson County District Court.

“An autopsy was conducted on the body parts found in the two coolers,” according to the affidavit. “Based on preliminary autopsy findings, the dismembered body was that of Rey’s dead wife.”

[h=1]Missouri man allegedly dismembered wife’s body in front of kids at hotel; remains found in storage unit[/h]
When Justin was arrested, he told police his wife delivered their baby in the bathtub of a hotel room near I-70 and Stadium Drive, where they had been staying since Sept. 25th. He told police he used a plastic fastener and a shoestring to secure the umbilical cord.

Justin also told police his wife died after childbirth and he placed her on the bed and then took pictures with his wife and kids together.
Justin said he spent two days with Jessica's body, Friday and Saturday, before dismembering her and then taking her body in the cooler to the storage facility in Lenexa.
Detectives say Justin admitted cutting up Jessica in the bathtub and then putting her body parts in the cooler. What didn't fit in the cooler, he said he flushed down the toilet or boiled in a pot on the stove.

He took photos of his babies with their dead mom — new details in Lenexa dismemberment

In one statement to police, Justin Rey said she committed suicide after giving birth. In other statements he just said that she died.

After Jessica Rey died, he said he placed her body on the bed and took pictures of himself and the children with her body.

Rey, the newborn and toddler stayed in the room with her body for two more days before he moved her back to the bathtub.

He dismembered the body while the children were present, he told police. Rey put the body parts in a large cooler. He disposed of other parts that didn’t fit.

I just can't. I hate people.

ETA: Not enough to kill them though. It's just an expression of exasperation, I promise.

This makes me wonder if he ate anything. I don’t get the impression they had a lot of money, maybe he did it to survive. Oh god I hope not!

sad [emoji20] all around. I feel sorry for him because I believe he’s mentally ill and truly didn’t want her to die as well as cut her up and bring her in pieces.
Sad for the children especially- good god it’s a great thing they both survived and are certainly in better care now.
And of course so so sorry for the victim. She was so afraid of losing her kids that she ultimately sacrificed her own life by neglecting medical care.

Wow that's quite extreme.

I can to an extent understand taking pictures. It was not uncommon 100 years ago, to have a photo taken with the family gathered around the deceased family member. I don't find that so terrible.

But cutting her up with the children present is too much. The baby will certainly not remember anything, but the other sibling might. I hope not. What an awful thing to do. Yes he is likely ill.

What a sad case.

This is just terrible. I feel so bad for those poor babies, especially the 2 year old, I really hope she doesn't remember seeing her Mom dismembered.

How did the hotel cleaning staff not notice that someone had given birth in the tub and then that someone was dismembered in that room. Surely he did not clean everything up so well that no one noticed anything happened.

What makes you think he was a drug user, as opposed to just suffering from a severe mental illness such as paranoid schizophrenia?

Whoa. What an unexpected development. SK?

Another new article:
Soon after Ferel disappeared, "several thousand dollars'' in charges were made using Ferel's credit cards, police said.

Text messages sent by loved ones to Ferel also led to responses that signified "a marked change in the way Ferel would respond,'' leading them to conclude someone else was sending the messages, according to Palm Springs Sgt. William Hutchinson.

Ferel's body has not been recovered, but police said they found his blood inside the trunk of his car, with Rey behind the wheel. Following an August 2016 car crash near Los Angeles, Rey was found with Ferel's car, cell phone and other property.

More of Ferel's property was recovered by police inside a Kingman, Arizona, storage unit rented to Rey. Hutchinson also said Rey was caught on surveillance footage at various businesses using Ferel's credit cards.

I wonder if he has any other storage units around the country. :scared:

Eeewwww well, we know he likes to cut the bodies up, boil them, whatever. So they will likely only find pieces of his body. This is more sinister and less mental health feeling, now.

Well, I never would have thought he would have been able to pull off something like that for so long. Thank god those babies are away from him. I wonder if he has any other connections to any mispers?

On his Youtube channel, "Mr. Justin Rey CS,''... he details his beliefs that Child Protective Services in Indio and elsewhere removed the couple's children from their home illegally. He also accuses CPS of beating, sexually abusing and drugging children and in one video, claims the agency took the children away at gunpoint.

If he was found with the missing man’s car and belongings. The car had the missing man’s blood in it and there’s Surveillance video of him using the man’s credit cards. Why wasn’t he arrested???
