I'm not sure JJB is the killer, but there are too many coincidence s to ignore. Until I get proof positive he ISN'T involved he will remain at the top of my list!

I totally agree glf. Until police come out and say he wasn't involved and
why, he remains at the top of my list, too.

But I am curious to know why people don't believe it's him or WHY police aren't thinking he's involved. And why they are interested in a KC connection.
(unless, of course, that's a red herring).

I'm assuming that the appt that aftn was supposed to be somebody from KC, or she had an appt booked very close to the day of her murder from KC.
Granted, KC is big enough for somebody to "lay low", but if the drivers of those PU's are involved, I would think they would be in another state, maybe as far away as Idaho, or Virginia, and get did of those vehicles fast, even if it meant selling them to a scrapyard.
There was too many reports in the heartland for them to sell them close to Kansas, unless they were sold to somebody who didn't care they had been driven to and from the scene of a murder.

Not proof positive, but the Sheriff's office has told me that he was looked at in this case and they do not feel as though he was involved. They didn't specifically tell me why they felt that way, but he's been in custody long enough that if they had anything tying him to LH's murder, he would have already been charged by now.

LE has “investigated that potential lead.”
LE collected “tons of physical evidence” at the Heimer crime scene.
If JJB murdered Lori, his DNA should have been found at the crime scene amongst the “tons of physical evidence”.
Unless LE botched the evidence collection or the lab analysis, it would seem JJB did not murder Lori.

Soldan on Tuesday said agents from the Kansas Bureau of Investigation and three full-time investigators with the Sheriff’s Office are following up on several leads and all evidence has been collected from the scene. “We’ve got tons of physical evidence and lots of leads to follow up on,” he said.

Residents of the area were concerned that similar cases in the Salina area could have been committed by the same person, John James Brown, who was incarcerated by the Salina Police Department. However, the Saline County Sheriff’s Office does not believe those crimes to be related at this time.
“Given the nature of the crimes in Salina, involving knife attacks, we have investigated that potential lead, but there’s been no arrests made on him or anyone else at this point,” Ascher said. “We are currently investigating any and all leads coming in surrounding anyone for this case.”

Again by Lt. Michael Asher: "We don't intend to release a photo because the WITNESSES ((capped by me) who observed the vehicles in the area didn't take a photo or anything so THEY did their best to describe what THEY saw in detail."

Please note that apparently there was more than 1 witness describing the the vehicles.

Asher also stated that the Saline County Sheriff's Office does not believe those crimes to be related at this time." Referring to JJB.

Also referring to JJB he says, "We have investigated the potential lead but there's been no arrests made on him or anyone else at this point."

Well, there has been an arrest but for a different stabbing and JJB is not going anywhere anytime soon.

And I still want to know why Capital Murder is still listed next to his booking photo.

Based upon what I have read from court testimony, there was no attempt at robbery during the course of those stabbings.

There was never an Attempted capital charge against JJB!!

You are referring (I think) of the stabbing he did of a friend of a friend. This would not qualify as a Capital Murder much less an Attempted Capital Murder charge!

Why does the jail booking detail for JJB include “A capital murder” in the section listing his charges?
This is my guess of why there are all of those charges listed for JJB when he was booked 7/4/2016 at the Saline County Jail.
At arrest, based on what LE has been told by numerous people, LE included every possible charge they could think of in the criminal complaint.
The arrest charges later get sorted out by the state prosecution. The state then enters a formal charge(s).
The ideal scenario is to have access to the court records rather than just the jail arrest record.

For example, a case I followed in 2006 has the person booked into jail with the charge of Felony Burglary (Assault During Course Thereof).
But one month later, online court records reflect that the arrest charge was reduced to Misdemeanor Battery when the prosecution filed the formal charge.
For this person, the online jail booking inmate records still (ten years later) show the Felony Burglary charge.
The jail website has this disclaimer:
The data on this site provides arrest and booking information and should not be relied upon to determine an individual's actual criminal record. This data may not reflect charging decisions made by the State Attorney's Office or the outcome of criminal trials.

Hmmmm.....ok. This makes a bit of sense even though it smacks of an illegal arrest but allow me to explain.

Since JJB was arrested and booked on the 4th and they hadn't yet interviewed him (even though they did seize 5 swords from his home and a machete the night before in a field where he was subsequently arrested) nor had they had a chance to do blood work or any other form of analysis, they may have thought, at the time JJB was going to be good for LH' s murder, thus charging him with: 1).Murder in the 1st degree, Intentional and premeditated
2).A Capital Murder; Kidnapping
( not entirely sure how that fits in)

??????????? I am speculating about the above. I am NOT saying that with ANY certainty.

The remaining charges are why he was picked up in the first place:

Aggravated Battery: Knowingly causing great bodily harm (yes, that fits for the man he stabbed several days earlier and for what he is currently on trial for)

And. .Aggravated Battery, knowingly use of deadly weapon
(that too fits with the man he stabbed and is currently on trial for).

It doesn't seem quite right that police can throw everything but the kitchen sink at someone they've arrested while not having some sort of evidence that could/would support that charge. But after finding the weapons, maybe that gave police all they needed to arrest him for Murder: premeditated and intentional. And Capital Murder: Kidnapping (What??!!! What hat did they pull that charge out of)

Certainly they had enough evidence for the stabbing of the Salina man to hold him over w/out the premeditated murder charge and the Capitol murder charge. That smacks of an illegal arrest based on......what?

Also, the 2 men that were arrested for harboring JJB did not have additional charges tacked onto their arrests.

I am still unsure of this whole mess.
They should have some firm knowledge regarding this murder
by now. And even though they are saying it's not a cold case yet, I'm feeling a definite chill.

No police report in Salina Post today. However, there was a man arrested for several chgs, and fits the general description of a POI in Lori's case. Interesting article.

He's not accused of murdering anybody. Both of those charges, according to Sheriff's Office personnel that I have spoken to, are listed in their records as ATTEMPTED! I have explained in this thread at least two other times that Kansas law lists attempted murder under the same statutes as murder itself and therefore are entered as the SAME by the jail on the website, whether it's attempted murder or murder itself. I hope this explains this once and for all.
