Why would his name not be entered in NamUs? Can anyone tell me if an OFFICIAL Missing Person Report has even actually been filed? If so, is that public record that can be linked here?

I agree, kicking is more of a child thing. Just to further expand on this speculation about Lucas being hurt at school and those who live in Kansas please pardon my ignorance if I'm wrong. If Lucas was being hurt by other children, either at school or in his neighborhood, it could possibly be the result of either racial or physical bullying. Racial because of his name, "Hernandez" or physical because of cleft palate/dental condition. We all know how cruel children can be, especially those who are given free reign to bully. This would explain the difference in photos of Lucas. I've noticed in photos where Lucas was with family, he appears to be a very happy, cheerful child. I haven't seen the typical physical traits in photos of abused children with Lucas (for instance, looking forlorn, fake smile, physical distance between him and other family members, etc). I have noticed though in some photos that appear to be school related, like the ones on his missing poser, he doesn't have the same look as he does as when he is with family.

I have to disagree...my four and five year olds show tremendous compassion for the so called underdogs in our classroom. They always leave me stunned. The ones who sometimes don’t.. the ones who witness abuse at home. I am always humbled by my kiddos responces to each other!

Are you referring to me? If so, please understand we are doing nothing until this weekend and in spots that if LE have not already covered, by then would go untouched by them.

I can vouch that Mrs and Mr. Perfecting Pink will do nothing that will get them jail time. I know because Mrs. posted in the beginning...no jail time!

I think it's suspicious that after Lucas told his great grandmother about the kicking and hitting and she reported it, she never got to see him again. This, to me, would imply that it was most likely a family member who did the abuse and either the step-mom or the father punished the woman with no more visitations. Step-siblings is a possibility, but it's the parents who'd control who got to see Lucas when not in school. I don't think it would be just school related.

This reminds me of other cases where when concerned relatives or friends/neighbors made formal complaints to the authorities about abused children, they were then completely cut off from contact. In more extreme cases, the whole family (like the Turpins) would leave town or even state to make sure they were 'hidden' from prying eyes and (in their minds) interfering busybodies.

Unless the rules are different in different states I don't see how any families who have been reported to DCF would know who the reporting parties are in order to keep the children away from them. I know that here in NJ DCF keeps the names of reporting persons strictly confidential, only a judge can order DCF to reveal the name of a reporting person.

With good teachers, they would know the kickers. I honestly have never had a kicking problem in my PreK classes. Hitting and yes biting, but not so much kicking, unless kicking a ball and missing?

Maybe older kid(s) kicking a younger one?

Kicking stands out to me as a bit unusual - not something an adult would do to a child the age of Lucas. IDK - I suppose anything is possible.

We'll eventually find out. I am hopeful Lucas will be found. Though I really, really wish the person with the info would assist!! It's cold out there....is Lucas alone in the elements?

Someone needs to speak up now and give a clue to where this little guy is.

No! Not in the slightest. I was just letting the non-locals know what the feeling is like here.

You know, turning people away from the parks, blocking off road access, etc.

The area posted is currently being searched (at least it was earlier). I will drive by again on my way home and see what is going on.

I honestly feel like this is backfire from me saying that we had a very, very bad experience with CPS. I feel pretty ganged up on about this if I'm honest. We had an awful experience with CPS. They did nothing to help us. They failed our family. I'm not sure why I should be expected to just let it go because some CPS workers are good. I get that. I was only speaking of my experience. My experience and the endless amounts of cases we see here that have a failure from CPS in their past.

I honestly wish I had never said anything about what we endured. This has turned into a backlash at me for saying something negative towards CPS.

I understand that most, if not all, CPS workers are overloaded, it's crazy the way our world thinks we can handle things when we can't. But I promise you, some are just plain incompetent.

Please don't feel ganged up upon. :hug: I hope you did not think I was ganging up on you. :blush:

I know that many people feel the way you do about CPS. Many people have been failed and it has ended in disastrous and deadly tragedies. I am not trying to be dismissive of that horror.

I was just trying to explain that the individual social workers are not always the ones to blame in these tragedies. I am sure there are lazy or incompetent ones and it is disastrous to come into contact with them in that situation.

And I am so sorry to learn about the horrible, tragic loss your family endured. :rose: I cannot imagine how I would feel about social workers either.

We reported someone to CPS for abuse/neglect and it was supposed to be kept anonymous. But the father came to our home, drunk and screaming threats, because his wife had figured out who reported the abuse.

The social worker apparently told her the very specific allegations. And since my husband and I were the only ones present when that abuse occurred, they knew it came from us. I had asked specifically for them not to make it specific enough to identify us---but I guess that did not happen.

We ended up moving before our lease was up and taking a loss, because this family was so scary.

I highly doubt the report was regarding preschoolers hitting or kicking Lucas; but if that was the case I highly doubt a relative would call DCFS about it. It would be up to the school to take care of the problem, I’m sure like most schools there is a zero-tolerance policy for behavior like that in place. And if the school failed then maybe LE would get involved to talk to the offender’s parents and if the offender repeated the actions he would no longer be allowed to attend school there.

I have personally seen a parent kick a relative’s child before, and that child was a 4 year old male. Abuse can be doled out in so many forms by adults, as stories have proven time and again.

I think it is far more logical that the relative called DCFS on a family member. That’s what it’s intended for, right?

I am a mandatory reporter and have had to report one case. The family and child both found out who reported them. I’m not sure if it was a crack in DCF or if I was the only person the child told.

Either way, they found out it was me. Put me in a very tough spot that damaged my trust with our system.
