I believe LE stated that they had dealt with him in the past, but nobody mentioned a criminal record. I'm guessing he has been violent or acted "crazy" in the past, LE was called, he calmed down and nothing was made of it. But I guess we could look into it? Are Leavenworth County records public?

Yes, that's a good point! Their wording made it clear they knew him and had had interactions with him but didn't really say he had a criminal history.

IIRC, early articles on the case mentioned he "was known to law enforcement," but there was no elaboration on the types of crimes he had been accused of/charged with/convicted of before now. Folks on here were wondering if he had a history of domestic violence charges, but I don't think anything was announced beyond that.

Maj. Sherley said the sheriff’s office previously “had dealings” with Jackson, without specifying what for.

He said “there had been some back and forth with family” and investigators were “trying to determine what went on with the family dynamic that got us to this point.”

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Donald Jackson Jr., the Leavenworth man facing a capital murder charge in the killing of his two sons, has waived an extradition hearing in Oklahoma, clearing the way for him to be brought back to Kansas.

Leavenworth County Attorney Todd Thompson said Friday that his office was informed of the update, but he did not know when Jackson might be transported to Kansas, saying that "a lot of variables" factor into that timeline.

La madre de las niñas está viva. El padre y la madre tuvieron 5 hijos, los dos varones asesinados, las niñas secuestradas y un bebé. Los padres estaban separados, la madre vivía con las niñas y el bebé y el padre vivía con los niños. No sabemos por qué mató a los niños y secuestró a las niñas.
Uno de los niños debería haber asistido a un partido de fútbol, la madre estaba en el partido y, cuando se dio cuenta de que el padre no había traído a los niños, sonó la alarma. Un miembro de la familia fue a la casa de su padre, encontró a los dos niños muertos y llamó al 911. Entonces se dieron cuenta de que las niñas habían sido secuestradas por su padre.

LEAVENWORTH, Kan. — An affidavit released Tuesday backs up details investigators previously shared and provides a timeline in a Leavenworth capital murder case where Donald Jackson Jr., is accused of killing his 12 and 14-year-old sons.

The affidavit says Leavenworth County deputies went to a home on Hillside Road at about 1:15 p.m. on Saturday, October 24 after Jackson didn’t show up for a soccer game with his four kids, and wasn’t answering his phone. Court papers say relatives had found 12-year-old Austin and 14-year-old Logan Jackson shot to death.

A Leavenworth County man who is charged with capital murder appeared in court Thursday.

Donald R. Jackson Jr. appeared in court for a status hearing. And his next status hearing has been scheduled for May 20.

Jackson, 40, is charged with capital murder for allegedly killing his two sons, ages 12 and 14. The bodies of the boys were found Oct. 24 at a residence on Hillside Road near Lansing.
