I live 8 miles from Hesston. I frequent the nursery (gardening). Our friend is head of the SWAT team. Many people we know work ( I need to edit...many people that we sell lumber to know people at the plant) at the Exon plant. My husband just missed the intersection in Newton by 30 mins. where the shooter first shot.

Please pray for everyone.

This is so sad. Many companies don't want to hire ex-felons but this company gave him a chance and this is how he repays them. It just shows criminals are always going to be able to obtain illegal weapons to carry out their evil acts on innocent victims.

I know its early but I am really interested in knowing if he happened to be a Muslim. The reason I say this its not the first workplace murders where a Muslim has killed others. There have been several but I do remember, iirc there was a case where another man decapitated one woman in the office and was trying to decapitated the other lady when he was stopped when shot by the Manager there. IIRC, he had gotten mad because they didn't want to discuss his religion with him.

I am not saying he is a lone wolf terrorist but the way our world is now I do think it could be a possibility.

I am glad to see the FBI is already involved.

I sure hope we learn more about this man and his background.

On a quick glance I didn't see anything there that points to him being a Muslim. He posted Merry Christmas wishes.

Just a couple of days ago he posted that he woke up vibing and God is good. How do you get from that to mass murder two days later?

I just want to say that this community is a big Mennonite community. A lot are employed at that plant. This is a peaceful place, normally.

Also from the perp's FB... he has several friends on his "friends" list that also work at Excel. So was essentially mowing down his friends ? People he worked with every day , ate lunch with, maybe carpooled ?

yes. he is dead. no one is sure why they are at the house. talk of a roommate. I don't think we have one of those robot things that can go in and see if there are bombs or not.
