Did you see the size of the gun used? Huge, heavy, and long barrel. No way she could have shot herself in the back of the neck. Why did he use a gun like that? And he teaches CSI?

Poor, poor Vashti! He threatened Vashti. She told her counselor. Doesn't the counselor bare some sort of responsibility to share that with police? It really struck me odd that when Vashti asked her if he would burn the house with her in it the counselor replied, "Not with the boys in the house."

MOO, he's transparent like window glass and this is obviously a made up story that doesn't make sense to anyone listening to it, and he's definitely lying and he killed her. I hope those jurors are as smart as websleuths members.

what was your first thought?

The boys.

I immediately started heading for the boys. I just dropped V, and let her go. I was already spinning and ran to the boys room.

I, uh, left the bedroom and went straight to the boys room.

I didn't notice it at the time, but the door was closed to the boys room. I had to open the door to get in the door (that was not normal).

When I left the room, the stopper was still on the door.

The first thing I noticed, is their nightlight is off. The lamp is always on, the boys don't sleep in the dark. Um, when I opened up the bedroom door, the only light was from the hall light behind me. Once again, it didn't register at the time. I came in the BR door, light was cast from behind me. B was on his knees, and he put his hands out towards me.

I picked B up and shifted him over to my right arm.

I reached down and grabbed BS right upper arm, and he was asleep on his stomach (out cold), and I grabbed his upper arm, and tossed him on my left arm.

Took off, went running out of their room, ran around to the stairs, through the kitchen, and out of the house.

Ran straight to V's VW.

I opened up the rear passenger door, and put the boys in the back seats, then started to buckle them in.

It wasn't until I was running down the sidewalk, the corgies, one of them was running right beside me. I looked around for the other one - who was also running along.

There was a lot of talk. BR was terrified, B was terrified, and I remember we talked about noise (geez...when is this guy gonna call 911). B is scared of thunder.

I know I got B buckled in, BS car seat is on the far side, his seat is a lot more complicated (hello...911...hello). I spent a LONNNGGG time on it. I don't know if I got him buckled in, or if I just gave up. I was just having a horrible time of it. (hello 911)?

I didn't know I still had the cell phone until I got the dogs and the boys in the car. I started thinking I have to call 911, I have to call 911. It crossed my mind, where did I put my cell phone. Only when I shut the door did I realize the cell phone was in my hand (HELLO).

I was still connected to V I think. I did realize the phone was connected to V all this time because I hit the end key.

me: gee, lets get the doggies and the kids all buckled in before calling 911. Who cares if my wife is dead/dying upstairs and my house is on fire.

Is this for real?

Is BS suggesting that Vashti turned off the boy's nightlight and shut their door? Wouldn't that make it harder/longer to grab the boys? Is he suggesting Vashti didn't love her sons?

I just can not figure out people like this.. If I bounce a check by accident, I am devastated and worried!! I can not imagine how these people kill people they love, Murder the mother or father of their children and then act like they it was not them when it all points to them..

Yes. That gun is heavy! And the weird angle?? Come on.. There is no way. I think he thought that all the evidence would be incinerated .

He said his phone was still in his hand. Along with going to the boys first, wouldn't you be dialing 911? I would.

Along with everything else, this is what is going to bite him in the butt. How do you pick up 2 boys, open a car door, shuffle the 2 boys and 2 dogs into the car, buckle them into car seats (one was very very difficult, remember), all whilst having a cell phone in your left hand the entire time...still connected to V's phone.

I can't even pick up my cat with my cell phone in my left hand (yes, I tried, she squirmed and I had to let the cell go).

How is he going to explain that one, eh?

HLN playing some of what I missed this morning.

He threatened to publish private photographs of Vashti. What kind of good man is that?

Not only is it heavy the barrel is too long; esp for a woman using one hand. Now; the other thing is the trigger pull on this gun. Esp tight if you ask me....tight meaning the poundage on that trigger, takes strength to pull it. A LOT of strength. It's not a gun a woman would use. I'd like to hear more from the State on Vashti's gun usage or if she shot at all.
Pretty much any one of us can attempt to put the length of that barrel in the position; to reach that trigger and have the strength also on that poundage is impossible at best immho.

As far as I understand it, she wasn't shot in the back of the neck. That is where the bullet exited.

Now I thought that the bullet exited through her head....

I am going to have to go look that up.

Yup, that's exactly what I think he's trying to insinuate. Why would V close the door and turn off the lamp - only to make it harder for anyone to rescue them.

It's all BS IMHO.

He's suggested that over and over.

Make no sense to be why he would run out of the house and take the time to buckle the kids in the car.
He has a phone in his hand.

I would be running away and going to my neighbors and calling at the same time. I would never think to go to the car and buckle the kids in.

He makes no sense.

He had those kids buckled in that car before he shot her and set the house on fire.

You are very wise, and I believe right on point!

I missed the beginning of today's testimony. But I'll tell you, his version of the events that night don't stand up to the smell test.

He already had Vashti in his arms, allegedly, he's not going to throw her back on the bed in a burning bedroom. At the least he'd move her into the hallway, before running to the children, to at least get her away from the licking flames.

IMHO, he shot Vashti prior to getting the boys, but hadn't set the house on fire yet. The gunshot probably woke up the kids and he most likely heard them crying for their mom. He rushed into their room and grabbed them, explaining the loud noise was thunder and there was something wrong and he needed to take them to the car or outside. He then buckled them into their seats and then ran back inside to set the fire. I don't think even he would endanger the kids by setting the house on fire before they were out of harms way.

He was most likely already in the home and had just set the fire when he called 911, thus his sounding out of breath. He over reacted in his phone call. He's supposed to be a seasoned LE, they do NOT act out of control in a moment of crisis like he allegedly appeared.

BS said fireman are stupid, or something like that. He had to show how mocho he is by running back into a burning fire and trying to save the day. I'm waiting for the superman cape to be revealed.

By using fire to cover his crime, imho, causes the crime scene to be in chaos, thus destroying any evidence, or at the least, evidence being contaminated by the presence of first responders who'd job is to put the fire out first, then investigate, or discover the victim.

Wonder if the pros was aware he was going to trash the victim like this? An affair with a VP of COX, puhleeze! .............. I wanna' see the proof!

Liars always pepper their stories with some truths....BS is classic. His testimony of him..checking on the kids, putting them to sleep, kids door being shut, standing in hallway looking at master bedroom closed door, looking in her room and seeing his wife laying in bed, going in the kitchen, laying on couch in den, listening in the den to creaks upstairs, "scooping" up the kids, finding the pets, putting kids in car...all paint a picture of a man trolling around his house all night....very creepy. His testimony does not have ONE authentic reaction to anything that went on in that house except his movement through that house all night.
