Thanks for that link. So basically all we know is that it was a large canvas tote bag and it was called "nice" which in guy speak probably means sturdy (I'm assuming, probably wrong). Maybe it was a Christmas tree storage bag? Or a tent storage bag? I'm thinking more along the lines of a bag that a deer would fit in like this. This is rural Kentucky, I guarantee that the vast majority of men (and a lot of women too) who live there have hunted at least once.

Unfortunately, the bag is probably not something that will immediately identify someone.

I also read in the transcripts that they were making a big deal out of Kristen's last social media post. "Somehow, I know there`s more to life than this." The first search result is an exact match for a Kid Rock song "Only God Knows Why". It may have just been something that was stuck in her head or a favorite song or something.

On May 23rd (a life event of "In a relationship"), she also said "No matter where my reckless soul takes me...Baby you saved me..." which is a direct match for a Kenny Chesney song called "You Save Me". I think she just liked song lyrics. It's completely normal for a girl her age to post song lyrics as Facebook statuses and such.

Kentucky State Police arrested Clark Smith, 53, of Cave City Friday in connection with the murder of Kristen Edwards.

Clark is charged with Murder, Tampering With Physical Evidence, and Abuse of a Corpse. He was taken to the Barren County Jail.

Smith lives in the E. P. Terry Apartments in Cave City where he was located Friday. He lived in the unit located next door to Kristen Edward's grandmother, Linda Pedigo, who said Clark was someone she knew well.

Pedigo said Clark came over to install her landline phone, and that Kristen spent a large amount of time over at his apartment using his computer.

I'm glad an arrest was made and it seems like they probably have a lot of evidence since the arrest came so fast after questioning. The fact that he lived in an apartment is interesting. How was he able to cut up her body and move it? Does he have property elsewhere? Or did he just go into the woods somewhere and hope he wasn't caught?

"The man accused of murdering 22-year-old Kristen Rae Edwards confessed to the killing according to a Kentucky State Police arrest citation.

The citation, released to the media Monday morning, states that Clark W. Smith, 53, of Cave City waived his rights and admitted to "murdering and disposing of Kristen Edwards and her personal items", the citation states."

It's curious how the two met. From news reports above, he lived in the same apartment building as Kristen's grandma, so perhaps they met that way, though it does seem an odd friendship.

There is an ongoing AA and NA group that meets at the Edwin P. Terry Estates on Wednesdays. Were either of them attending the meetings - perhaps they formed a friendship through that?? July 14 is the date he says he committed the murder. July 14 is a Thursday. Could they have attended the meeting on Wed, Jul 13 and then gone to his place to hang out, use the computer....and things got ugly??

yeas ago before smartphone were everywhere, my teenage neighbor used to come over and use my desk top. his mom didn't have one.

this grody old man prob put the make on her and she was not having it, so he took it by force then murdered her, then did the dismemberment to be able to remove her from the premises

That could be it but it could also just be that she met him because he was her grandma's neighbor. I believe it was stated early on that Kristen visited her gradnma a lot so it is probably just familiarity and she felt safe at his apartment. Unfortunately that didn't turn out to be right.

Stuff like this is why I don't trust anyone, when I have maintenance come to my apartment, the front door is always open because you really never know.

That was my first thought actually. Before I read about her using his computer, I thought maybe she came to visit her grandma and she wasn't there so he invited her in to hang out until she got home and that's when it happened. I just can't believe he would kill her right there next to her grandma's apartment and with so many apartments around.

I couldn't find anything on him for past crimes, but I'm not that good at looking!

News reports say they got him through interviews - not sure if that meant with him (as a neighbor to grandma) or that they got clues from other interviews.

It's not much, but he's apparently admitted to being the one that killed her... But nothing has been released as the "Why?" part of the murder.

In a court document released Monday, police said Smith admitted to killing Edwards before disposing of her body and personal items.

Her date of death is listed as July 14, at EP Terry Estates in Cave City. It's the apartment complex where Smith lived. It's also the place where Kristen Edwards' grandmother lived. In fact, the two lived next door to each other.

After having a not guilty plea entered on his behalf, the confessed killer walked past the mother of two's family one last time. A sight they'll want to forget, but for a cause they can't.

"I feel empty. I don't want to do anything. I think about her everyday when I wake up. There won't ever be a day when I don't think about her..."

Smith is charged with murder, abuse of a corpse, and tampering with physical evidence.

Next for Smith is a preliminary hearing on August 30. It will be the first chance the family and the rest of the public will have to hear how Clark Smith was made a suspect and ultimately arrested.

Smith had a plea of not guilty entered on his behalf by a judge in Barren Circuit Court Monday morning, similar to what happened in District Court a week earlier.

Does anyone know why they do that? He has already admitted to the crime, why not let him plead guilty and get this all over with?
