Depending on how long he was in the river, he could have drifted a long way down river. Even the Ohio, Missouri and Illinois rivers join the Mississippi upstream from where he was found.

Moo..many jobs require steel toe boots, construction, some factories, landscaping. But if pants look like part of a uniform, that piece of clothing would be most helpful to publicize....moo

Yes agreed. I should have been more general, and say industrial/construction. But I certainly think in that general area is where they should be honing in their search of missing people to match with this John Doe.
