Found Deceased KY - Jermaine Sprewer, 25, Louisville, kidnapped, ransom demanded, 7 Sep 2021 *Arrests*

Such a sad and tragic situation all around IMO.
Do we know for sure there was only one phone call & request for money? It’s possible LE was keeping a lot of details out of the media. An example would be his car that was found Fri. LE wouldn’t share how or where it was found.
I agree that it almost sounds as if they (suspects) already knew how it was going to end from the start.
According to this-
"During the calls, a large sum of money was demanded in exchange for his safe return," Kennington said. "The family has since not heard from the assailants."

(ETA should have read only one day, not one call, my mistake)

Family speaks after kidnapping victim found dead: 'It's something you can't put into words'

For more than 72-hours, 25-year-old Jermaine Sprewer was held captive. According to Metro police, he was tied up with guns pointed at him. On Saturday, he was found on the shoreline near the Shawnee boat ramp, dead. Officials said they have reason to believe he was killed.

As police continue to investigate the incident, Harrison is urging people who know something to come forward. She said anything that helps them get justice will be a big help in giving them peace of mind.

:( This is such a sad outcome. My thoughts and prayers go out to Jermaine's loved ones. I hope investigators are successful in finding the culprit(s). These folks are way too dangerous to be running loose on the streets. MOO

Rest in peace, Jermaine.

There's about a 5% margin of doubt in my mind that this might be anything other than gang activity. That leaves 95% sure that the kidnappers felt Sprewer owed them money that he didn't have to give them when they took him so they gave his family one chance to come up with it. He was probably killed immediately after the facetime call but certainly no later than the moment police got involved. A somewhat smaller possibility is that he just liked to give a false impression to bad dudes of having lots of cash on hand at all times and was targeted just for that. Either way it plays out the same but his family will probably choose to believe the latter even though those sort of crimes are usually more burglary/robbery. As was previously mentioned, this type of crime is more personal. The perpetrators wanted to be sure he would pay one way or another.

Jermaine Sprewer Louisville, KY: Updates on case of kidnapped man

From family:
"He was a local rapper, and there's a certain image that people stereotype about him, but he was the most loving individual," said Harrison. "I know everyone says that about their family but he was just a vibrant energy. You would never see the frown on his face."

The coroner’s report does not list his cause of death. It still says "pending," but police do believe it involved foul play.

Coroner: body found in Shawnee Park is Louisville man believed kidnapped

The Jefferson County Coroner's Office identifies the body as that of 25-year-old Jermaine Sprewer. However, the coroner said the cause of death is "pending."

LMPD has not released new info since the body was found.
Waiting for toxicology report, I imagine. Wonder if he was murdered by drugs.
