KY - Laken Snelling, 21, arrested after giving birth and infant was found in closet - Sept 2025

She's young and athletic. That helps. :)

I guess that could be a good explanation. Cheerleading takes alot of stamina and strength, so no wonder she still looks pretty fit despite getting pregnant.
I wonder if her boyfriend knew at all.

IME, it'd be difficult not to have known. What he might have done or not done in response to knowing/ suspecting is another story.

Many still seem to live in a "it's her problem" world with respect to pregnancy -- including legislators and others in positions of authority.

This case and LS remind me of some other cases we've seen over the past few years (e.g., Skylar Richardson). Not sure what this might mean in terms of case progression, etc

I suppose we could all provide examples all day long of emergency births. One friend of mine started labor and it went so fast that as her husband ran to call the midwife, she screamed, "Get in here now!" She delivered in the bathroom before a call could be made for help. They were experienced parents and still were caught off-guard and couldn't summons help during labor.

A co-worker went into labor and left for the hospital, but didn't make it past her apartment building lobby and had the baby there. Her husband called 911, true, but a fire truck didn't arrive until after the baby was delivered.

In those cases, the babies were full-term and healthy. I don't condone putting a baby in a bag in the closet, but what if those two examples were about pre-mature babies who couldn't survive or were stillborns? Would they be blamed for not calling help soon enough?

Keep in mind, someone did indeed call 911. We don't know how long that took or who placed the call, iirc.

We will know details eventually. There is so much we don't know yet.

We know from LE that her son was already in a black plastic garbage bag with whatever she cleaned up from giving birth when the roommate discovered him dead.
LS had plenty of time after giving birth to call 911.

The premie who "couldn't survive" would then leave the mother with a newborn making the decision the baby wouldn't survive so she doesn't;t call for help.

LS as the mother had a " duty of care" towards her son to call 911 after he was born.
imo

I'm not being insensitive to your situation but since you were walking around grabbing things what would have stopped you from getting your phone in the other room if your husband wasn't home?
I would think that you wouldn't be getting your hospital bag together and would get to the other room and call 911.
Also you weren't alone at home and I gather was relying on your husband to get you to the hospital.

I still don't believe that a social media gal like herself would not have her cell phone close by, like real close by at all times.
imo
Not insensitive at all! I could certainly have had my phone at that point if I had collected my stuff in a different order. What I meant is that I thought I was in the "oh wow, I'm in labor, I should throw my charger in my bag and get my shoes on and call the person who's going to watch the older kids to come over" stage of labor, so it wouldn't even have occurred to me to call 911 because I thought I still had a few hours to get to the hospital. By the time I realized I was at 911 level I couldn't move. Does that make more sense?

Maybe if I had been home alone I would have gotten my phone first. I definitely would get it first now. 😂

CS said we don't know who called 911...?
Yet from the get-go it was said a roommate called 911.
CS said LS's parents paid 100,000 bond with 10 % down which isn't true, guest ran with it as being true.

The guest (retired detective ) explained what he believed should entail in the investigation, LS;s cell records, text messages etc. though he doesn't know what agencies are investigating but when a dead baby is found it should be investigated as criminal then go from there.
The "crime scene" is crucial too.
It's worth the listen.
This is the Commonwealth's attorney who would be the prosecutor to indict.

As far as I’m aware, no credible reports of the father’s identity yet? Only that the two men have given DNA samples.

Lots of TikTokkers “reporting” that the father’s identity has been confirmed - I’m assuming this is just the usual irresponsible rumour-spreading for the sake of a follow, right?

It really could be she went into fast labor and birthed a stillborn and did not know what to do. I appreciate the posts of how it can happen so fast.

Outstanding question: did she have prenatal care? To me, it was clear LS and CJ knew at the “couples” three heart photo shoot she was pregnant.

Yes!
It all makes much more sense and thanks so much for your clarification and hopefully all ended up good.

I wonder if she possibly did any damage to the baby wile doing stunt? There's no way she should have been doing that sport while pregnant.

Nancy Grace said there was cleaning supplies placed on top of the baby in the closet.

It's one thing to be traumatized by labor, but this sounds like something else entirely imo.

I see a lot of people who are confused about them not having determined a cause/manner of death or gestational age yet, but I feel like that isn’t abnormal. Just through my experience searching through unidentified bodies on NamUs, I feel like most cases with babies have a relatively large age range of 0-1, or they are vaguely described as just an infant, newborn, or fetus with no clarification on specifics (although a lot of these involve skeletal or severely decomposed remains, and the decedent here seems to have a very short PMI so making specific determinations would be easier). Many also do not list whether they are thought to have been born alive or not, any cause of death info, or possible congenital defects.

This baby was found before it was decayed. I agree that a decayed body autopsy is much different on determining cause/manner. An autopsy would show the development of the lungs which would help determine the gestational age of the baby. I think they know the age, but are trying to determine if the baby was born alive or still-born.

OMG!

She still can't bring herself to delete her Tik Toks and her FB still has all her photos and "This content isn't available right now" under each one.

She did live and breathe for attention.

imo

Well, she is certainly going to benefit from leaving it up now. The views on her TT have sky-rocketed since her arrest. She will get a monetary boost from being arrested.

@16:47/22:32, I was curious about the reference to a particular Bible verse printed on Laken Snelling's shirt -- "Isaiah 40:31" -- I Googled it:

"Isaiah 40:31 is a Bible verse that reads, 'But those who wait on the Lord will renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint'. It's a promise of God's power to those who place their trust and hopeful expectation in Him, enabling them to endure through hardship with a renewed spiritual vigor, metaphorically described as soaring like eagles."

It's a little late to be asking, but why wasn't she on birth control?
