I was looking at various news media reports from the Eastern Kentucky region in the aftermath of the Allen, Kentucky shooting incident.

At this time Storz is held in jail in another county under a ten million dollars all cash bond. Storz is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing during the afternoon of Monday July 11.

It is my understanding that Storz ambushed the police officers before they made contact with him when they arrived at the residence in Allen.

During the standoff, one of the injured shooting victims layed in the street for hours on account of Storz firing at anyone that tried to approach and render medical aid to the shooting victim. Also a sheriff deputy that was forced to stay underneath a police cruiser for hours was hospitalized for carbon monoxide poisoning.

Domestic situations are such a hazard for the responders.

I just don't understand what made this man lose his mind and shoot all those officers and others like that. Domestic calls are dangerous, but this was on a whole different level.

Kentucky law enfircement officials held a Sunday afternoon press conference in Prestonsburg, Kentucky.

The press conference released new details of the events that transpired in the mass shooting incident that occurred Thursday at Allen, Kentucky.

The sad part is that not only were there fatalities in this mass shooting incident, some of the injuries that the police officers sustained are likely career ending injuries.

I found some background information concerning Lance Storz.

Prior to residing at Allen, Kentucky, Storz had previously resided in the state of Florida, Washington, and Oregon.

Storz had two past bankruptcies in Oregon and Florida. He also wasn't a stranger with the court system in Volusia County, Florida.

During the mass shooting incident, Storz had an arsenal of multiple weapons with lots of ammunition. This has me wondering if he previously had served in the military.

Storz had also called his neighbor during the mass shooting incident.

I can't help but wonder what if he had awakened while the officers were initially talking to the wife outside. Would he have seen them, and started shooting and killed her and those officers?
Such a tragedy for all concerned.
Praises for men who will step up in those times, even at the risk of the sacrifices they made. The Uvalde situation went one way, this went another. God bless the families of these men.

WYMT-TV from Hazard, Kentucky carried a live broadcast yesterday of the funeral service of Floyd County Sheriff Deputy William Petry.

I believe WYMT-TV will also broadcast the funeral of Prestonsburg Police Officer Ralph Frasure at 1:00 PM today and the funeral of Prestonsburg Police Officer Jacob Chaffins at 1:00 PM tomorrow as well.

Videos of the funeral services can be seen on the WYMT-TV website and also on the WYMT-TV Youtube Channel.

The preliminary hearing for Lance Storz was cancelled today after the grand jury returned a 20 count indictment this morning against Storz.

An initial hearing is scheduled for Tuesday morning in Circuit Court to schedule an arraignment hearing in Circuit Court for Storz.

The commonwealth attorney is currently considering whether it will seek the death penalty for Storz.

Prosecution has gotten the ball roiling right off it seems. If they can get their evidence lined up, we may get a speedy trial, as most trials go now. So much to process. Just imagine the ballistics testing.

I know for a fact that this is not the first time that a mass shooting incident had occurred in Allen, Kentucky.

On Friday October 16, 1981, seventy year old retired coal miner William "Okie" Bevins walked into the Mountain Auto Truck Parts store in Allen, Kentucky and shot eight men multiple times inside the auto truck parts store. Five men were killed and three men were wounded.

William "Okie" Bevins went back to his home after the shooting and he was later arrested by the police at his home.

Before the shooting incident occurred, Bevins had been in a dispute over a woman with one of the shooting victims.

And before the mass shooting incident at Allen, Kentucky in October 1981, Bevins had previously been convicted of murder in Kentucky in 1929 and had served seven years in prison on a life sentence for that crime.

Bevins was later convicted in Circuit Court of five counts of murder and he was sentenced to death. Bevins was the oldest inmate on death row in the United States during the 1980's. He died at a Kentucky prison during the late 1980's.

Lance Storz had his Circuit Court appearance earlier this week. Storz pleaded not guilty on all charges and is still held at a county jail under a ten million dollars bond.

Storz has a pretrial hearing scheduled for sometime during February 2023 of next year.

Does KY have the death penalty?

Does KY have the death penalty?
Yes. But in general KY is pretty soft on murders other than those who kill LE.

If you take a look at death row you'll find those that are still on the row committed some heinous crimes. Some who committed heinous crimes get their conviction changed to life without parole.

Kentucky rarely carries out the death sentence.
