Kyron's Parents in Touch with Oprah

I think that when all is said and done, KH and DY will do what their media advisor recommends with regard to O and any other shows like hers.... In fact this might all be part of a planned media strategy IMO.

Does anyone have a link that Kaine and Desiree have a media advisor? I have not read that anywhere. Thanks.

  • #83
I have not heard about any media advisor either...I think Desiree indicated they are kind of out there on their own...

Oprah would go for the sensational aspects of the case...it would end up being about the family history, divorces, etc...

I'm not seeing it as helpful, personally, but respect whatever the parents feel they need to do. Even if LE does not believe Kyron was taken out of the area, the parents have to believe whatever gets them through the day.

Perhaps Oprah should take her show to Oregon and cover Kryon there as this would be a much greater impact instead of KH and DY going to Chicago.

Sheriff, DA to ask for more money in Kyron search

http://www.katu.com/news/98765949.html

Six weeks have now gone by since Kyron mysteriously disappeared and his parents thanked all those who have been sending positive thoughts their way through a statement released by their media liaison:

"Kaine and Desiree's main priority remains keeping their energy and available time focused on assisting investigators in the search for Kyron. Kaine and [Baby K] have returned home (and) are getting settled back into the house. Kaine is spending time getting the house ready so that Kyron has a comfortable and safe home to return to. The family sends their deepest gratitude for your support and thanks everyone who is keeping an eye out for Kyron."

What about another America's Most Wanted segment? I went to their website and it seems that they did something on him, at least he is on the website.
I think JW will be able to KIS and NOT focus on TH and the family drama...

Personal Opinion: would prefer AMW over O. And we know that AMW is also pretty far reaching/international. Less sensational in my opinion.

There was a very small segment on AMW. Didn't last more than five min., probably three at the most. Basically it was have you seen him and gave a number to call.

I figured it was a smaller segment as I had missed it. But, my point remains (at least for me) the same. Even if JW made a longer segment I feel as if it would be less sensational than O.

I guess I was thinking in terms of alternatives to O in terms of international audiences.

After typing all of this I realized that I probably am not making much sense...if you want me to clarify a thought please let me know!+:waitasec:

i think i am second guessing myself after thinking about it...

If I were a parent (and I am not, unless you count crazy dogs)...then I would do whatever I was told to do as far as what would be best for my missing kid.

I would, especially after following CA and now Kyron, double think every single thing I said and did as far as possibly saying the wrong thing on tv. Would I want to go on every show, cry my eyes out and curse the person who had my kiddo? Of course. If that would put my kiddo in more danger than he already was in...I would hate myself for life...

So...I guess I am all for DY and KH doing whatever they are being told to do by professionals...

give me 30 minutes and Im sure I will rethink again.

I read a quote that was given, and the source was their media advisor. Someone posted somethuing to the effect of " They have a media advisor now ?" following the quote. It was upthread... I will look for it... I would not post this if I did not remember having seen it...

It would be great if Oprah and other affluent folks could get that reward money increased.I'd like to see $500,000. It brings additional attention.

Is the "Media Liason" the lady from the church that kind appointed herself the day Kyron went missing?

Well, the Anthony's can be thanked for this one. Cindy famously said she was the one who cancelled on Oprah. And even though they never went on her show, they got as much money as possible for Casey's defense through selling Caylee's story to the highest bidder.

So no, I don't blame them, in the wake of the Anthony's tainting it, for not going on Oprah or limiting their exposure on any show. They've only done one so far. I say good for them.

Have KH and DY been in touch with, say, the Klass Foundation,or Tim Miller ? People who actually have experience in helping families find their missing loved ones ? Just a thought....

Unfortunately, we don't have any way to know. Maybe that would be a good idea to send to one of the reporters as a question to ask?

They do have an FBI team there, though, in addition to the many other local and non-local agencies. They are awesome at what they do, IMO. Also, the FBI is surely aware of these organizations and may have passed some resource information along to the parents.

I would love to see TES involved!

From Kyron's Parents Field Questions by Email on July 5, 2010

http://www.kptv.com/news/24151901/detail.html

Q: It’s been just over one month since Kyron disappeared, how is the family seeking support to keep up hope that Kyron will be returned home safely? Who is the most helpful source of support outside the family?

A: The only support we have been seeking is for people to keep an eye out for him. The local community and people all across the state of Oregon and everywhere in the Unites States have sent notes of prayer, reassurance, and strength in support of Kyron and our family. While the local community is relentless in its search for Kyron and support of the investigation, the national community continues to get the word out and watch for him. We will be reaching out to other families and organizations that help with missing children cases, we have not yet had enough time to do so. Other than that our strength and support comes from our love for Kyron and we lean on each other as much as we can while we search for him.

But refuse to take money for Kyron Horman Story.

http://blogs.wweek.com/news/2010/07...oprah-but-say-they-wont-take-money-for-story/

There is always speculation about ways to raise money for searches, PI, Legal Fees.

The Parents of Kyron Horman say they will not take money for a story with Oprah.

IMO, another example of shoddy journalism.

*************

The parents of missing 7-year-old Kyron Horman tell WW that producers for Oprah Winfrey have contacted them. But Kaine Horman and Desiree Young say they won’t take money for the story of Kyron’s disappearance.

“We wouldn’t sell it,” Young said in an interview Tuesday.

“Oh yeah,” Horman agreed. “It’s not about money.”

They said they’ve been in contact with producers from The Oprah Show. But they said they’ve received no offers yet for book or movie deals.

***********
IMO, three separate answers to questions that that have been combined to look like more.

The have been contacted by Oprah...period

They have not received any offers for book or movie deals... period

They won't take money for the story of Kyron's disappearnace....period

Marc Klaas, whose 12-year-old daughter, Polly, was abducted and murdered in Northern California in 1993, and who now runs KlassKids Foundation to prevent crimes against children, offered a different take.

"Some people seem to be losing sight that this case is about a missing child," said Klaas of the "circus" atmosphere in the Horman case. "The focus shouldn't be about this stepmother, Terri, and the bizarreness that she surrounds herself with or that surrounds her."

http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/U/US_WHERE_IS_KYRON?SITE=FLTAM&SECTION=US

If they can avoid the "circus" that will be great. But ITA with MR. Klaas...the focus needs to be on KYRON, not this other stuff.
