I did some research, and came to the theory that based on the Women's National Bowling Tournament token in his possession, the fact that he was found near a football field, he held a career in sports either as a recruiter or a coach, additionally he had injuries (i.e fractured nose and skull) commonly associated with football players, so he may had played pro at some time in his life.

By chance, I stumbled onto the Wikipedia page of William Abbey, who was a football coach for Southern Oregon University during its 1951 season. Wikipedia has him listed as "possibly living." but there is no evidence that points to him being alive or dead. While it's possible, he is retired and living a private life...it's interesting to note that he would've been in his 40s at turn of the 1980s, around the time the doe is estimated to had died.

Just clearing up a typo, because it doesn't seem it'll let me edit again. I meant to say that William Abbey would be in his 50s at the turn of the 1980s, around the time the doe is estimated to had died.
