I’m sure the Cajun Navy will come with air boats that are better equipped to transverse swampy land. I’m from South LA and we have tons of marshes/swamps.

My friend is a federal marshall. I saw them searching with airboats day 2.

The area is very swampy. They are having trouble searching the bayou right there because it is filled with swamp plants, which prevent any boat with motors. The Cajun Navy is apparently on their way. Texas Equusearch came, but couldn't search because of the water issue. Because he is nonverbal, he wouldn't be calling out. Plus now, having been 4 days without his seizure meds, he is likely having seizures, which regularly makes people, especially kids, sleep for large amounts of time to recover after. So they are searching blindly. He has not been seen as far as I know since Thursday at 5:28 am. Like on cameras or anything. And now Law Enforcement has scaled back. My heart is breaking for his mom and his community.

Seizures + all the water on that map... I'm not expecting a good outcome. Hoping for a miracle though.

The mom said that she discovered him missing at 10am and called the police and told them that he was a special needs child and he might be naked. She kept calling the police, but they didn't come. At 4pm she went to the police station and filed a report. The police finally came to her house at 8pm. Since then the police have kept in touch with her and she is grateful for what they have done.

It is horrifying to think that nearly 10 precious hours were lost from the time he was first reported missing until the PD began to search for him. Add to that, he left the house through a window 4-1/2 hrs before he was discovered missing, so by the time the search started almost 15 hours had passed. A neighbor's camera shows him leaving the house at 5:30pm, wearing only a diaper, and he was seen on another camera in the neighborhood at 6:33pm (and the diaper had been discarded.) After the search finally began, they seem to be doing everything that can be done to find him, but it will be a miracle if he is safely found. We've seen miracles before, so lets hope Bryan will be another.

He must of gotten out of sight fairly quickly after the initial sightings. If I saw a naked 12 year old walking nakedness walking down the road I would keep him in my sight while calling 911.

I can't even explain how hot it is, too. Like no way to walk without shoes without physical burns to the feet. That definitely makes me believe he would go towards woods/ water. I can't stop thinking about him.

It can take hours for LE to respond when 911 is called in the New Orleans area.
You would think that a missing special needs child would be top priority.

My son and his family reside on the West Bank in Orleans Parish at the Plaquemines Parish line. Their monitored burglar alarm went off and it took 4 hrs for LE to show up.

I know they are still searching. I keep getting text messages from the city asking people to check their cameras. The family was asking for volunteers, but I don't think this is the kind of search volunteers could do. Even Texas equisearch couldn't do it. But our Cajun navy boys are out with boats, dogs and drones.

Rain and lightning temporarily paused the urgent search for 12-year-old Bryan Vasquez on Thursday (Aug. 21), as law enforcement says it is shifting its strategy from broad searches to more targeted, investigative efforts. But some family members say it feels like the police are backing off.

The New Orleans Police Department said in a press release that the effort to find Bryan remains “a coordinated operation involving local, state and federal agencies.” Officials emphasized that although the visible search footprint may have changed, the operation continues with equal urgency behind the scenes.

On Thursday, search crews brought in cadaver dogs and boats to comb through lagoons near the area where Bryan was last seen. Dog teams from Alabama, Mississippi, and Texas are volunteering their services. When a dog detects a potential scent, another is brought in to confirm.

One week after 12-year-old Bryan Vasquez disappeared from his New Orleans East home, criticism continues to mount over how long it took police to respond to the initial 911 call.

New Orleans Police Department Chief Anne Kirkpatrick acknowledged a delay in dispatching officers the day Vasquez went missing.

“When we realized there was a delay, I was like, we have to look into this,” Kirkpatrick said. “The most important thing is the child.”

There is always massive delay. Sometimes days or never. But they should definitely put missing with disability or under a certain age as priority. This child needed immediate help.

Airboats, excavators, bloodhounds join search for 12-year-old boy in New Orleans East

Officials deployed excavators, airboats and bloodhounds in their continued search for Bryan Vasquez on Monday.

The search teams on Monday also included an airboat with sonar, bloodhounds from the Louisiana State Penitentiary at Angola, the New Orleans Fire Department, officials from the St. Charles and St. Bernard Parish Sheriff's Office, as well as an army of community volunteers who've been combing the neighborhood looking for the boy with little to no sleep.

The Vasquez family is holding out hope that Bryan Vasquez is alive. Hilda Vasquez has three other children, ages 11, 7 and 4 weeks old, according to Rosales-Fajardo.

"She's been not sleeping, just walking around and worried," Rosales-Fajardo said. "The 7-year-old has been screaming for his brother."

It's terrible to see a post about a missing child with autism and click in and read enough to breathe a sigh of relief and think "at least it wasn't the parents this time."

Also there needs to be some severe repercussions for the police ignoring it for so long. That poor mother. He's such a cute kid.
