While the association between Hillary Moulder and Jaren Lockhart is certainly disturbing, I think that people should be very cautious in referring to Moulder as a murder victim.

Her death was no doubt tragic, but I do find it a bit hard to believe that a homicide victim would garner no media or police attention whatsoever, especially in this day and age.
Hopefully the media will at least 'look into her death' since she was employed at the same place as Jaren and they worked together.

Edited to add: one of HM's relatives mentioned on f/b that HM & JL were friends.

Unless they disclose that they found her body and they have __________ in custody, I, for one, will not rest!

Especially if the media deemed it non-newsworthy and moved on, or if coroner said eh, OD with a less than thorough autopsy. Then they would have no reason to at least look into it.

Whether or not I've personally heard of Kalisha Madden, an internet search reveals a large number of articles with quotes from law enforcement officials regarding her case. The issue in relation to Hillary Moulder isn't whether or not her case is widely-known, it's whether or not it's acknowledged as a murder.

Point very well taken then, but do we dismiss the possibility (no matter how small) of a possible connection just because of the number of internet articles on her death?

FWIW, here's a story about another Bourbon St dancer who moved here in the spring of 2009 and was murdered two months later. Her body was found in the stairwell of an abandoned City Hall annex. Initially, LE thought she'd cut her wrist. Months later, her death was officially ruled a homicide. I hate to say it, but this happens more often than one might think.

The morning of July 23, she was found dead, with cuts on her neck and wrist, in a third-floor landing of a stairwell in the vacant, moldering City Hall annex on Canal Street.

The circumstances surrounding Ball's death remain a mystery. But the background story is a familiar one for New Orleans: A troubled person drifts into the city, takes chances, finds action among dicey characters on Bourbon, then becomes a casualty.

A woman found dead under strange circumstances inside a vacant Mid-City building in July was murdered, the Orleans Parish coroner determined Monday.

A suspect was named in January 2010. I haven't followed up to find out if he was eventually arrested.

Thank you. Guess I was thinking it would explain why it may have been reported in an area outside of NOLA?

Hillary's Aunt mentioned Jaren in a post today, and stated the two were friends. No mention on how Hillary passed.
I know.

BBM.
Thanks for posting that, Bessie! I swear, it seems like one can go around murdering young women with impunity, so long as your victims have a history of sex work or drug use.:banghead:
BTW, that's the reason I don't think the LISK will ever be caught. I bet he's just changed his dumpsite and will keep on LISKing.:twocents:

completely off topic here but in watching some video, it led me to this: She was Bullied to death R.I.P - YouTube

How is it that when I got bullied, I took it and moved on, and nowadays the kids cant? someone has to have an answer!

kseal if you run from FB page to FB page you will find a pic of her and her friends and the comments are basically about how "they" were going to get into rehab to get daughter back. I dont know if they had done that already, or not. Could it lead to the perp? sure! other than that not much.

I just want to say in regards to the wide disparage of comments/interest/coverage between cases....I want Jaren family and friends to know that I, for one only, never come on this site on weekends....I spend it enjoying life with my DD, however I came on specifically to check up on Jaren. My oldest DD has piercings and tattoos, and if that makes her less desirable to find if missing then there is something wrong with society! Any human being regardless of anything else deserve to be treated with dignity and respect, and that goes for the missing as well as the unidentified! NO MATTER WHAT! Because someone looks differently than you ? SO WHAT!

Sorry, I too, have noticed the "slap you in the face" disparage between cases...and you can blame race, or hair color, or gender or appearance, or job...but it's a fact that cannot be ignored or denied any more! Some have double digit threads, and some have one....stop ignoring that fact and try to help make it better!

I am praying for Jaren most of all because she needs it and so does her family, and also, that could be my DD == but regardless, its SOMEONES DD!!!!!!!!!

(jumps off soapbox)

ETA: this was directed at no one!

Of course the amount of media coverage is a factor since it's hard to keep commenting on a thread when there is nothing new and it's always just "bump, still no news" but I think the double digit thread phenomenon is partially a forum format thing on WS. If there is a lot of activity on a thread, it's always on the top. If it's always on the top, there will be more readers. If there are more readers there will be more activity. If there is more activity, the thread is always on the top... The busy threads feed themselves.

I was afraid of that.

The disparities in media coverage have always troubled me.

How many missing children of color do we hear about? It's not because they aren't missing.

But that's a rant for another thread.

Around here, I've heard several times in the past few years about missing children of color or otherwise in my area. From memory I would guess about the same number as white children. Our police force is not full of a bunch of old white men ignoring missing children if their skin happens to look different. While I don't feel at least in BR that the LE are racist, they don't always let us know about the crimes involving people living "high risk lifestyles." I don't think that is fair, but somehow more acceptable to people. The motives of cities who do this could only be guessed unless we had someone on the inside, but I suspect most of these places would like to under-report all crimes to make their city look safer (JMO). And, maybe they think no one will notice. Thank goodness with Jaren people are seeing this and maybe will demand more from our LE in the future. It's just a serious shame that it took something like this for people to see it.

Jury, I sincerely hope that you don't think that there are that many racists in this country who wouldn't report missing children to the media because of their ethnicity. What an awful thought! I sure hope it isn't that way. I feel pretty confident in my LE that they will notify us of ANY missing children. If I'm proven wrong in the future, I will come back here and apologize for saying otherwise.

Someone with his name and age is in custody per Vinelink.

It could be for burglary

If LE never disclosed that Hillary's death was suspicious, there wouldn't be any media coverage. It may have been several days before LE determined that she was murdered. Of course, it's possible that she wasn't murdered, too. We can't assume anything. We need some facts.

I've found a page on FB that may help give answers sooner then later being that's she's "family" I think ... I'd rather not say who it is because of that reason but as soon as I see word I'll post it on here

But nothing was written about Hillary being her daughter. The granddaughter was listed, and another daughter. Too weird, unless I am missing something??!!

The other daughter has a page also and it mentions a sister

I saw that, thank you. This is so sad, as well as the 2009 murder posted above by Bessie. My heart is heavy, and prayers are sent up for the families and friends of these horrific tragedies.

Well, the wife just rolled over on the sofa. She didn't see that I'm reading strip club reviews! I just read two, and both spoke about a private dance area across a court yard. here is what one said about the place:

"The VIP rooms are located in the courtyard behind the club past the bathrooms (which are absolute ****). I’ve never been in one and can only go on what I’ve heard, but I hear they’re completely private and what goes on in there can be negotiated beforehand."

Another reviewer talked about them probably needing to use bleach every hour in one corner of a private room. It sounds like there is more than dancing that goes on in that place. I also learned that most people don't rate the place very highly. This is mostly due to the looks of the dancers. Don't shoot the messenger. I'm just telling you what I read.

I doubt anyone on this thread thinks we should dismiss the possibility of a connection. On the contrary, if a connection exists we'd very much like to know. The first step in establishing a connection is to confirm that both deaths were, in fact, the result of homicide. Right now we have only the word of an anonymous poster. With all due respect to the poster, it's highly unusual for a murder to be so under-reported that only a few months later locals don't recall hearing about it, and an internet search turns up no trace. That leaves us good reason to be skeptical, imo.

from what i ave read it sounds to me like the two cases are related. I wonder if LE will care enoug to issue a warning to dancers in that area. IMO both girls are also similar in build
