And I had another thought. If she left at 2 am, sunrise is around 6 am. It is getting light even before then. So, perp had 3 hours, 4 at most,to get to destination, kill her, dismember, possible clean up. He didn't rush as evidenced by the number of cuts. At least 9 by my count. That would take alot of time. So, he possibly disposed early Wed morning, probably in daylight or approaching daylight. (guess tide experts may give some insight there.)

Then I did more thinking of why so many small pieces. What if he didn't have his own transportation? Perhaps had to get a ride/borrow friends/perhaps even a taxi. Would need small parts (sorry) to transport and not draw attention.

This case is gets to me because it is so close to home for me.The New Orleans area has always been my home and even though I moved to the boonies, I still spend a lot of time in the New Orleans area. Jaren was a beautiful girl and I can imagine she was much like a lot of people i know.

My 2 cents about the fact that she worked in a dangerous area/profession does not mean that she had any culpability for her fate. Some would suggest that people shouldn't work in dangerous occupations/areas but people need to make money and they go where they job leads them.

We just had a home health nurse, going to care for a client in a high crime area who was brutally attacked and gang raped in New Orleans. Thank Goodness the perps were caught but still, it was a brutal assault and she is lucky to be alive.

I used to work in a dangerous area in the inner city of New Orleans. I often arrived at work to find discarded needles, crack bags and bottles there, all around. My work brought me in contact with drug dealers, crack addicts, felons, criminals and many other people. My car was broken into 3 times, I had to be watchful when arriving and leaving each day as I thru the projects and scary areas. I had 5 coworkers who were assaulted in one year.

So what was my dangerous profession that brought in such a scary area? I was a teacher, lol, in a school situated between two high crime projects. Some of the parents I dealt with were downright scary! But if I had been attacked, I wouldn't say it was my fault for being in such a place. Yeah, I knew the dangers and I chose to work there but I loved my students and was dedicated to them.

But when my car was broken into (3 times!) , the principal blamed ME for parking where I did and said it was my fault because I needed to find a better place to park. This infuriated me and I had enough so I found a job at a private school and wrote him a resignation letter that said something like
" my car has been broken into 3 times and you have simply advised me to find a better place to park. I am happy to report that I have found a better place to park at a local private school where i begin work on Monday. Thanks for your help and motivation in helping me find a batter place to park."

It just really gets to me when women have to always be on guard because they are vulnerable, even in seemingly safe situations. Just the fact that we are born female puts us at a disadvantage from birth. We always have to wonder if a male is just being friendly or do they have an ulterior motive.

What REALLY gets to me is the fact that IF a young vulnerable girl is attacked sexually or molested then it increases her chance of ending up in a high risk lifestyle. That lifestyle only increases her chances of being attacked again. Being molested may a physical event but the emotional damage it does is often devastating for a lifetime.

I'm just musing here, not responding to any particular post or trying to start any issues over anything. I am so saddened by this and how it affects Jaren's loved ones and especially her child.

Thanks and my prayers go out to her family and the people who loved her who have posted on this site and given us more information about the person that she was to them. That means a lot because the media reduces victims to a statistic or leads with the most lurid (often simply rumored) information.

I encourage her loved ones to post here if they wish. I would love to hear more about her as a person, about the kinds of things that they loved about her. Those kinds of things help us to remember that she was a loved human being and a cherished person and keep her from being dismissed as simply a sad statistic or just another victim.

Seriously. You know I've never really felt afraid for my personal safety while walking alone at night? A few times I've gotten a vibe like, "I think this guy is going to try and mug me, time to get ready to fight". Unless he's armed, worst case scenario I get a beating and loose my wallet and phone. Even that's rare. I'm a 6 foot tall white guy with a shaved head and a moustache, and if I'm walking alone late at night I'm probably coming from work, so I'm wearing a suit (I've been mistaken for a cop plenty of times). It seems like as a woman, you have to be on "yellow alert" permanently. Maybe instead of regular gym class, girls in middle school and high school ought to be taught martial arts. No reason to teach the boys; they'll just beat the carp out of each other, LOL.
My good friend Margarita tends bar in the west village, and like all young, pretty girls who tend bar in the city she dresses in skimpy outfits to increase her tips. She also closes the bar at the end of the night. So not only is she scantily clad, alone, late at night, but anyone who sees her close up and leave knows she has her nightly tips on her, in cash of course. I bought her a can of mace last week.

Remember that she went missing early wed morning and body washed up Thursday morning. And it was reported body had been in water for a while. So either he dumped her body very near where it was found closer to thursday, or he dumped her near NO Wednesday and it had current to take her. that is where the tide experts will come in to tell how long that would have taken.

Hi all - Jumping in to to say if anyone has trouble finding Hillary's sister's comment on the SunHerald article, sort the comments by "newest first". It is the 3rd or 4th one down. I post there as "LMO1" -I was going crazy all weekend, wondering why Hillary's murder wasn't investigated, so I threw caution to the wind & asked the question to the readers because that's the newspaper Hillary's friends & family would most likely read. I almost didn't say anything; thinking it might be innapropriate but i'm glad I did because now everyone will know that along with Angela Ball's case - the police are doing seriously horrible & dispicable things by ignoring these murders. Oh! Another thing, very soon after Hillary's sister posted & several of us replied -the SH took the story off the "front page/popular stories" & BURIED it. I know that paper; they didn't want bad press about the police "out there". We all need to keep the conversation going, because more women are going to die if LE keeps that lacidazical attitude. ~~~ Okay back to lurker mode!

Whether the couple come forward after the video is released will tell us quite a lot. I have considered so many scenarios. One thing that really hasn't been mentioned at all is that she could have been murdered during a robbery. She just finished working and might have earned even more money after she left with the couple. If the couple doesn't come forward, then it could have been the couple that robbed her. But I imagine the couple's spending habits at the club could rule out that scenario.

Also, I have not heard much mentioned about noise. Stabbing someone in the back is probably going to lead to some sort of scream. It's entirely possible that nobody heard her or just didn't think much of it when she screamed. But the killer wouldn't know this. The killer would have thought that the police might be on the way. Yet the killer took considerable time in dismembering her. (God, I hate to use that term.) Does this mean she was stabbed at a location where nobody could hear her scream? Perhaps the murder took place in a rural area or in a private home.

Lastly, the clothing will provide some significant clues. For example, if there is no blood on the clothing, she was killed while undressed. That means someone either forced her to undress or she did so willingly. The details on her clothing will help the police establish motive. If she was stabbed while undressed, they can rule out a street robber.

The gist of the comments is that Jaren's bf was also involved with another dancer that was also murdered.. but this person also states that he was last to see her and that he called LE just 3 hours later(which we know is untrue) ..so I'm doubting the validity of her other claims. She says Jaren was her cousin's BFF.. and what was most troublesome was that she says Jaren has a 3yo. Child

The SH can try to bury the story if they want but, I've been corresponding with a journalist for another publication and have made her aware of not only Hillary's case but Angela Erin Ball's as well. Hopefully several journalists will start picking up on these other 2 unsolved cases and start asking LE questions.

Totally agree. My only question is why these posters to newspaper stories claim "the police can't find" the boyfriend. Not true from the MSM. LE is remaining mum, but has indicated they have spoken to him. I'll stick to what LE reveals.

I don't put much stock in her comments. According to her, Jaren left home (the motel) at 7 and her boyfriend reported her missing an hour later. For someone who claims that Jaren was her cousin's BFF she doesn't even have the basic facts right. The correct info has been reported. This person has insinuated herself into the situation, claiming to know things but doesn't even have the facts right.
