In New Orleans? Yeah, you can absolutely keep that quiet...for awhile at least. There are a lot of violent crimes, missing persons cases, corruption cases, upcoming election news and Katrina Anniversary remembrances that can easily push a case like this on the back burner. I’m not saying it’s right , but it happens.

It’s not just her account. It’s an account that they both share. His tweets during her disappearance was all over the place. Messages were submitted out of order and was incoherent. It also raised a red flag—to me at least.

I will say that in my sleuthbyears, when they say next to nothing about a found person, it is usually self harm. I hope they say something soon, so at least the searching can be done.

Yeah but even in cases of self-harm, they report that someone has been found. This case is so weird. Is a person really missing or is this a publicity stunt?

I said similar - not publicity, but connected to their online activities - upthread. If a body has been found but maybe still trying to prove it is her, getting DNA or dental records or whatever if too badly decomposed, you still would have thought something would have been said, ie 'body has been found on the search for missing Jessica Durning but police are unable to confirm at this time whether her'?

Maybe it is different in US? I am in UK and we recently had the case of Libby Squire who was missing for weeks. A body was then found in the water, but although most thought it was her, because of decay, they couldn't state such for a few days until it had been confirmed. But the public still knew of the find.

In this case, while the friend is putting out word a body was found and thought to be her, no police, media or family statement has been made. Nor, anything from the husband. And I think it was said and then removed here, this body was found over a week ago.

I’d say it’s very unusual to NOT report human remains being found, but I can’t imagine her friend making this up and posting it? That is so morally corrupt and I just can’t see that being good for anyone’s business... in fact I think they could all get in heaps of trouble for doing something like that...

Not much of a response from locals. Hoping LE did ask neighbors for footage. I didn't look to see if there are neighbors across the street who might have footage of the front of the house?

Have you seen any police activity around - well I suppose in the wooded area closest to house, and around their house? Though you may not of course know if not too near (we have different reference terms here for blocks!). Have you heard any local rumours or seen anything on local web groups?

I’m considering finding the few local news articles and reaching out (or commenting) to see if there’s any indication that she’s been found, as reported by her friend (who I personally believe).

It makes no sense that someone claims a body was found but there is no info in the local media. Was the body found in another place? I saw an article from today about a male body found in a canal. But I have not seen anything about a female.
