Ugh. As a Dad of daughters I just get anxious about this. Mine are now into their 20's and never were a worry, but they sometimes had a friend or 2 with troubles and I worried for them too.
These young teens think they're done growing but they have no life experience yet.

No offense Clareneko :)

She tweeted five hours ago "lol I am fine."

I hope she stays fine. Had a feeling about this one and it wasn't bad ... yet.

That is the age is one of the more confusing times in life. At like 13 and 14 you aren't a little kid any more and you resent being treated like one ,or being told no. You also start looking more grown up and have hormones going crazy- fun times for parents. Has there been much about her family? I hope this case is being taken seriously by LE. She might have left a not posted on twitter but that doesn't mean she is safe or with good people.

The "I'm fine" didn't seem to be directed to public concern on her Twitter page. Can they check her messages. I can barely work instagram hopefully pms can be read or chat threads (my 14 uses it) that she might be on can be accessed. If you want to convince people you are okay show proof of life. Take a picture with a newspaper and post it. That's probably too old school. Kids are tech savvy they can probably figure out something cooler. I hope she is fine.

I hope the police take this seriously and don't write it off as a runaway situation. NOLA cops have a bad reputation. My experience in the city supported it.

None taken :) Yeah, I'm concerned for that reason, too. I have seen a lot of girls at my school of which have left their houses without permission, or planning to, and some have ended up in really bad situations. That's one of the reasons I'm highly concerned for Kyoko...Who knows what might happen?

She just posted a message about 20 minutes ago, but it was a casual one...Where could she be? She doesn't seem hurt or in a bad situation...

With "friends", I suspect

For now, is there any way I can help?

I don't know what. It doesn't seem that the media, LE or even family are doi ng anything.

Maybe not Kyoko but you can help situations like this from happening by raising awareness among your friends and peers. You can discuss this very scenario and encourage them not to let friends stay at their houses without being certain the parents know. Not to cover for a friend who wants to hang out and have fun by not letting an adult know where they are. How danger can find you faster than you can imagine.

Thanks for the advice :) I just hope that Kyoko will make the right decision and go home on her own.

LA has a State Safe harbor statute where a youth can report to a runaway shelter and they keep the child for 72 hours. I imagine they take your phone and whatever else, so if she didn't do that right away she could actually still be there.
» Louisiana Revised Statutes 46:1353 – Notice to parent or guardian; reporting requirements to parent, legal custodian; seventy-two hours of safe harborLawServer
I pray a lot. And then I hope in that.
Dunno Clare.
I wish more young people cared like you do.

Can this twitter account be hers? Same name, same location. Tough talk for a 14 years old.

Kyoko Duke (@queen_koko__) | Twitter

Just to clarify, almost every post on her twitter is a "retweet", meaning she didn't write them herself, but rather reposted them from other peoples' accounts.

The "I'm fine" post though DID come directly from her account (either from her or someone else using her account), and it's notable because it's literally the only non-automated post written directly from her account since before the start of the year.

Regardless of where the retweeted posts came from though, I do know a lot of kids her age and a little older who talk like that, it's maybe not "typical" but it's definitely not unusual.

Thank you :) At the moment, we can all keep our fingers crossed and hope for the best.

And if there's an adult in that home or wherever they can be charged with harboring runaway - interfering with custody of a parent/guradian
Runaway (dependent) - Wikipedia
The worst part about it is, the adult there probably doesn't even know she's missing. Probably thinks their kid is just having a friend over for the night.
