Well, THAT REPORT is vague!!! Wow. I mean... "unfortunate accident"?!?! Where is the official police update? I couldn't find anything. They didn't find his body, so.... what makes them conclude he drowned?
Found deceased per below article. Not sure if it counts as MSM, though.

This report does not say that he is found deceased, but that they believe that he had an accident and seems to have drowned and they are searching for him in the river.Found deceased per below article. Not sure if it counts as MSM, though.

Very weird to see police come out (or get quoted indirectly) and say he drowned without evidence. There's been cases where it seems very obvious that the person probably entered the water but police never say anything concrete until the body is found. Only situation that makes sense is maybe they have CCTV footage of him entering the water and struggling?

But there is nothing of a body or him found mentioned.
What is R"L?“UPDATE: There have been reports of a possible drowning, R”L. A massive search is currently underway by the Mississippi River for Mordy Gelfand. At this time we cannot confirm such information and remain hopeful that Mordechai ben Shira Golda will be found safe & healthy.”

BUT then this, which states that New Orleans LE believes he drowned.
UPDATE: Search for Mordy Gelfand continues in Mississippi River after Police believe he drowned R"L - LNN news
This is all a bit odd. Also, LE knows his card was being used and should know when it stopped being used. I didn’t see anything from New Orleans LE or a recently-discovered body in the Mississippi, but I didn’t search for long.
What is R"L?
I was thinking River Levee. Show's you want I know. IMOI believe it is an abbreviated Jewish honorific of sorts roughly meaning "merciful God, please save us." The closest analogy I can think of - and it is far from a perfect one - is how "pbuh" follows the mention of Muhammad in Islam. I can get a specific answer in the morning.
