I have looked also. Total crickets. I wonder if they have found him and have taken him back home.No one, LE, family, or friends are obligated to say if they have.

Well, THAT REPORT is vague!!! Wow. I mean... "unfortunate accident"?!?! Where is the official police update? I couldn't find anything. They didn't find his body, so.... what makes them conclude he drowned?

Maybe a note? Or something like a rental car parked near an entry point or wallet discovered downstream?

I wish they'd say. At least SOME kind of statement...

Not a single news channel in the city has reported a body being found in the river, or an accident involving Mr. Gelfand.

“UPDATE: There have been reports of a possible drowning, R”L. A massive search is currently underway by the Mississippi River for Mordy Gelfand. At this time we cannot confirm such information and remain hopeful that Mordechai ben Shira Golda will be found safe & healthy.”

BUT then this, which states that New Orleans LE believes he drowned.
UPDATE: Search for Mordy Gelfand continues in Mississippi River after Police believe he drowned R"L - LNN news

This is all a bit odd. Also, LE knows his card was being used and should know when it stopped being used. I didn’t see anything from New Orleans LE or a recently-discovered body in the Mississippi, but I didn’t search for long.

OK, this one is baffling. I've been following this case since it was first reported and this report that LE believes he drowned, but no body is strange.

So he clearly was not happy and wanted a way out ,now this…not buying it…

So, what happened with his credit card being used? If someone's been using his credit card, it seems a little hard to believe he accidentally drowned. So was he alive for awhile, using his card, and then recently fell into the river?

Very weird to see police come out (or get quoted indirectly) and say he drowned without evidence. There's been cases where it seems very obvious that the person probably entered the water but police never say anything concrete until the body is found. Only situation that makes sense is maybe they have CCTV footage of him entering the water and struggling?

I should have been more clear. There is one article where the author says that LE believes he drowned. That's it. I wrote "found deceased" on the post, but I should not have written that because there are no quotes from LE.

This report does not say that he is found deceased, but that they believe that he had an accident and seems to have drowned and they are searching for him in the river.

But there is nothing of a body or him found mentioned.

Correct. I shouldn't have written that; it was sloppy. Article is someone claiming to report on LE's belief.

What is R"L?

What is R"L?

I believe it is an abbreviated Jewish honorific of sorts roughly meaning "merciful God, please save us." The closest analogy I can think of - and it is far from a perfect one - is how "pbuh" follows the mention of Muhammad in Islam. I can get a specific answer in the morning.
