Just because it's black in the picture doesn't mean it's black now. Whoever has it could have spraypainted it a lighter color. People should also keep their eyes out for any fixed gear bike with a bad paint job.

I just drove through my neighborhood and we've got just a couple of flyers up. Then I drove down Tolson, none. Down Bonin, none. From Bonin to Pinhook to Broussard, NONE.

I know this is across town from where Mickey disappeared, but I thought the city was better blanketed with flyers than this!

(ktgirl: we aren't supposed to say Northside anymore! The area has changed its name to "Upper Lafayette" to avoid the stigma attached to the Northside label....:what: LOL!:what:)

We make fun of the "Upper Lafayette" name too. No matter what you call it, people know how it is there. So there are no flyers on that side of town?? Not good. Maybe I can print a bunch tomorrow & remedy that situation after work.

This poor girl.

I was a student at UF in the late 80's and early 90's. At that time we had a young woman, Tiffany Sessions, disappear while running(still unsolved) and the Gainesville Student Murders were still unfolding(Danny Rolling was eventually arrested and convicted).

And yet, I rode my bike everywhere. My old beater car finally quit and I still had class and a job to get to!

I worked at some campus area bars and often wouldn't get off until well after 2. Sometimes I'd accept a coworker's offer of a ride home, but more often I wouldn't want to bother and I'd just hop on my bike and head home. I maybe rode a little faster and stayed on the main streets more, but I didn't even consider I was taking a huge risk.

It may seem foolhardy, but in a college town you are in this sort of bubble, or at least the illusion of one. That, combined with youth and energy makes kids feel like they are safe and will be fine.

I know there have been quite a few posters who have also said they rode their bikes while in college and never felt unsafe, but I thought it was worth saying it again in case anyone thought Mickey was being risky.

And I sure wish we lived in a world where a young woman could bike home four miles and arrive safe. :(

Hoping that beautiful Mickey comes home soon!

A friend brought up to me a situation that's happened to her. Near the intersection of congress and bertrand, there is a restaurant that I'm a bit afraid to name. She said a lot of the guys there are heavy into drugs, and when she would stop at the gas station near it, they would be hanging around and harassing her. I let my SIL know, so that she could tell the cops. God, where is Mickey? I can't believe it's been 4 days and nothing!!!

Like you, I first heard that BW and MS rode home from the club, picked up fast food and rode to the house so MS could get her bike.

I've since learned that they were both on bikes at Artsmosphere, and took the bikes to Taco Bell, went to BW's home to eat, and then MS left.

No car involved. (I think semantics were to blame. We rode together became understood as rode in a car.)

She is a strikingly beautiful girl, and it does seem strange that no one spotted her. Her bike route, as stated by BW and her sister, does go through residential areas, and unfortunately some really DARK areas.

Lafayette does have a large bike riding population. Maybe because we are a college town? UL doesn't have a lot of parking near the campus, so students park cars at the Cajun Dome and ride busses or bikes to campus. Also, there is a large biking club, and there are rides scheduled periodically that attract hundreds of bikes. I know Lafayette is actively trying to become more bike friendly.

I think they biked from Artmosphere to BW's house then took a car to Taco Bell and back to his home to eat. Unless something has changed since I was in graduate school (and well acquainted with the nightlife) there three years ago, the inside of the TB on Johnston/St.Mary closes at midnight and only the drive through is open at that time.

What sort of food do they happen to be serving? I think I know which one you're talking about, and they had an issue with crime there recently.

I believe that is right. I haven't been inside that Taco Bell in quite some time though, but on Pinhook I think the inside closes @ midnight.

CCK, I'm sure we're talking about the same place, the one I'm referencing has had some crime issues.

Does she live alone? One story says her parents are taking care of her pets which makes me think she does. Although the odds are that something happened to her when biking I hope LE is looking at her neighbors also.

So - if I were to venture the opinion that Mickey disappeared voluntarily, what would be the main objections to that idea, based on what we currently know via MSM about the young woman and about the case?

Not saying I think she took off on her own. I have no idea what's happened. But it's an avenue for discussion.

Yes, cuban food. I'm just hesitant to talk about the place publicly because, honestly, I'm afraid of a lot of the people. I just hope LE is looking into the place.

Chili, she lives with her parents, she has a ton of animals though.

The fact that she missed her brothers graduation on Saturday. She was very much looking forward to it.

I sure am.

Thought so. That isn't far from the intersection. If she was riding on the left sidewalk, facing traffic, then she would have been a little further away, but those guys have feet. And cars.

LE needs to interview those guys. There is ALWAYS a couple of guys or more hanging around there.

Why are you so afraid of the people? I've never been there, I've heard things about it, but I don't ever have any intention of going in there, so no worries for me.

But they had a stabbing (murder) there in February. And it might be worth noting that this place closes @ 2 AM. So people who may have been leaving around then might've crossed paths with her, and people who WORK there or may have been waiting for someone who works there would be leaving even later, which could line up with the time frame she may have ridden past there.

They should still see her on a camera, though, if she rode near that area.

My bff knows the people, and her opinion of them and her knowledge of the things they are involved in just makes me paranoid and spooked.

Everyone seems adamant she is NOT the type to do that. I don't think she'd put her parents through that either.

Then there was her brother's graduation that she missed.

And apparently she owned quite a few animals that she mustve loved. She probably wouldn't just up & run away without making preparations for them.

I think the police, while saying they have no sign of foul play at this time but are saying that her disappearance is highly suspicious shows they also believe the MANY people saying she is just NOT the type of person to run away.

I just don't think this is a situation where it happened. And I believe even if she had, if she saw what her family was going through, she would've contacted them. She seemed to love her family & friends very very much & everyone seemed to love her.
