Awful just awful. Could our Perp get to Picayune MS within 48 hours and do this? Again, makes me wonder if there an underground network on the internet going on.

Again, please read, this is totally unrelated.

I wish people would really get this. We don't have ALL the info.

I was married into a LE family for years. I've seen it all. They only tell what they want you to know. JMO

^this

They typically operate on a need-to-know basis. They'll try to reconstruct the entire sequence of events and, if holes exist in their reconstruction, then they'll parse info to the public to solicit assistance. But I guarantee you, for every piece of info that is revealed, several people in LE have discussed and decided that it's acceptable to go ahead and make public said piece of info.

I'm wondering if the person who dumped the bike had Mickey in his (her?) truck and kept right on going out of state on the expressway. Where does that expressway lead to in the direction the bike dumper must have been going? Once out of state, the person could have gone anywhere and if the person killed Mickey, she could have been dumped a very long ways from where people are looking for her. I hope she is alive and well somewhere but I suspect she was killed by someone and disposed of somewhere far from her home.

I-10 goes all the way to Jacksonville. In baton rouge it splits to I-12 to go north, but turns back into I-10 at Mississippi.

I don't think it's just you. Horrible quality news text is everywhere. Local papers are in terrible shape.

It might be related to the salary these organizations are willing to pay.

My 6 year old granddaughter could probably get a job as an 'editor'.

Sorry to say, it's the pathetic public school system, and lack of community emphasis on education. Was a public school teacher hear and speak from personal knowledge - not just generalization.

It might be worth stopping posting long enough to catch up to the answers to questions asked. Otherwise, there is a nonstop cascade effect in play. That goes for all of us.

regarding the bike being thrown from the bridge on not...

has anybody considered that maybe the bike WAS thrown from the bridge, missing the water completely, causing the wheel damage, then said perp had to drive down there to throw it out in the water?

I've considered that as well.

Ok This scares the living daylights out of me. My immediate family bounces between these areas all the time. I-12 in covington is not two hrs (at worst) in heavy traffic between MS disappearance and this girl. what is the time frame difference between the two happenings? so sad...

Shelly the case in Covington was a domestic abuse case. The ex-husband killed his estranged wife.

You can't do any good if you wear yourself into exhaustion. It messes with the thinking. I think that's why they called a time-out in the search - they probably ran into burnout problems.

Unfortunately, I hit the LCG parking lot at the same time that the storm did, so I'll have to defer to EBR's already excellent work on this point. I can confirm that there is at least one very prominent camera on the West side of the building facing the driveway leading up to the utility payment drive-through. Beyond that, I did the best I could to crane my neck and spot any additional cameras, but the rain was coming down in sheets and I just couldn't see much. I will say that I did not recognize the cameras that EBR referred to, but if he says they are there then I have no reason to doubt him. If anyone goes over there with a smartphone, I'd sure be interested in seeing pics of those cameras so that I'll know what I should have seen.

On a related note, I entered the parking lot from Azalea Street. Let me tell you, it would be incredibly spooky to come through there on a bicyle at 2 am. I don't want to imagine what could happen through there, not to mention there's a coulee running right underneath the roadway. Also, I'd imagine anyone in a vehicle cutting through on Azalea from University looking to make a shortcut over to the Saint Streets would probably be ripping through way too fast and never in a million years expect to come up on a bicyclist. I don't believe this was a simple hit-and-run, but I could see it happening under certain conditions.

I put this out the other night, because IF and agree that it's a big IF Mickey felt like she was being followed, or she just decided to take another route, the parking lot would make a good round about. Where would the camera location be on this side of the building, if anyone is aware.

I still think the perp may have ridden or walked the bike, which could account for removal of handgrips.
Walking the bike definitely makes sense. I kind of doubt it was ridden because it's hard to ride a fixed gear without practice. When the wheels turn the pedals turn (there is no freewheeling).

The handgrips could have just come off in the water or the perp could have taken them off at the last moment before dumping the bike in an attempt to make the bike less recognizeable (because they have a distinct appearance).

Alright. Let's try this again.

Same scenario as before, except Mississippi isn't involved because of..well..Ashley Smith was found.

However, I am inclined to believe this person travels on the Basin bridge a lot, perhaps for a job or family. Possibly lives in Baton Rouge and if he did dump the bike after the sign was posted, he's watching the news. A lot.

I don't supposed LE has revealed, in the time it just took me to go to the laundromat and dollar store, who, if anyone, may have been polygraphed in this case, right?

Not searching for rumors, just for anything I've missed in the last hour-plus on MSM.
